Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Lol someone asked Shuhei on twitter is Sony will ever support the Vita to the degree that Nintendo does the 3ds.....not surprisingly he has not responded to that question.

Hope E3 is good because as happy as I am with allot of stuff coming I know the Vita cant survive in its current state much longer.

In Sid's defense, PS3 is an aging platform with a successor planned for release at the end of the year. Vita is only a little over a year old.

Didn't Sid just spend pages bitching and moaning that Sony's still throwing a lot of support behind the PS3? So I guess that suddenly doesn't apply now?

It's April. If Sony goes through E3 and Gamescom without announcing anything, then he can feel free to whine.

Oh man, this thread today.

I imagine Toto looks something like this right now...

How the hell did you equate the two?those big PS3 games should have been saved for the PS4 and the Vita will have nothing which can match their sales, console generational transitions is not what you can apply to the Vita because it's a recently launched portable. Here we go with the wait for E3 thing...

More games is always good but ports of ports does not help the Vita's library. It just seems like an easy out for Sony. God forbid I have an opinion on this $250 piece of hardware.

Eh I don't care about those collection, the only port I would like is Demon Souls.

This was his plan all along.

Old?

fnac Spain is listing Rayman Legends (29th August)
http://www.fnac.es/Rayman-Legends-PS-Vita-Juego-PS-Vita/a884805

They previously leaked the Jak&Daxter Collection (after the rating leak)
Not surprised. During that conference call where we learned about AC3:L's surprisingly decent sales, the CEO guy said that there are more Vita games in development. Rayman is an obvious fit.

I suspect another game in development is that Ghost Recon game that was leaked last year. Would be glorious if done right.

Rayman Legends is due 27th September on consoles, so I doubt they'll release a $40 portable version before.

I do expect a Rayman Legends Vita release eventually, though.

Anyone know about that History Channel Patton game coming to the Vita? Just saw it on the PS3trophies site.

Imagine it's a really shit RTS?

I enjoyed the PSP demo.

also this game localization needs to hurry up

It'll be localized as Gods Eater 2 Burst on 3DS.

That version will have online.

Invizimals is the only PS3 game they've announced this year. OMG PS3 IS DEAD!!!!1!

Good. PS3 is seven years old. Big exclusives aren't going to sell it anymore.

Yeah people are starting to lose their shit ... honestly what kept drawing people to the Vita community was how happy we are/were with our purchases and how united we were in supporting the Vita, and wanting it to get more support.

I think you guys just need to focus on the upcoming releases instead of focusing on the lack of huge reveals, that's all I do. I keep reminding myself of games that are coming like Soul Sacrifice, Killzone Mercenary, Tearaway, Dragon's Crown, Muramasa Rebirth, Ys Celceta, Valhalla Knights 3, and not to mention all those indies coming as well.

I didn't equate anything, I looked at your two arguments:
1) Sony's supporting the PS3 too much, they should instead be putting that support behind the PS4.
2) Sony hasn't announced any Vita games aside from Invizimals in the last 4 months.

And then pointed out the flaw in your logic. It's not complicated.

Complaining about the lack of announcements in the four slowest months of the year is utterly absurd. Barely any games get announced during this period. It doesn't mean anything.

Ghost Recon? I want the new Rainbow 6 game on the Vita.

1)Yes they are, when did I say those games were announced this year? all I said was that those big PS3 games to be/already released this year should have been moved to the PS4.BTW plenty of games get announced in the 'slowest' months of the year,it's absurd to say otherwise.
2)We'll see, given that the last major game for the platform was Soul Sacrifice announced a year ago (KZ was announced at the NGP reveal in early 2011) I'm not hopeful.

It's not complicated.

Last major game to be announced was Tearaway, back in August.

Plus, KZ was never formally announced until last year. Sony just showed it in the demo reel as a way of saying, "Hey, the NGP can do this."

Tearaway is not what I'd call major but let's go with that.

They announced 'a Kilzone' for it at the NGP reveal,it was not a tech demo.

Agreed. Keep the pessimism to the sales threads, people.

To be honest, I've never understood this desire people have for game companies to announce games months before their release. Delays I can get, but I don't think a game should be announced more than 3 - 6 months before release. What does it do for the game, really? Get people talking?

Um, yeah.

Wow,god forbid I have an opinion on the current state of affairs, jeez.

Yeah Sony definitely shouldn't have announced KZ:M,Tearaway and Soul Sacrifice so early.....

We've always used this thread to share (mostly) positive Vita news even when other GAF threads were proclaiming Vita's early demise. I'm sure many people here understand the current state of affairs. We don't need to this into yet another doom and gloom thread.

Um, yeah.

I just think the early announcements aren't doing any companies any favours. Personally, I feel better playing a game rather than talking about it. I just don't think it to be a good practice. I'm not an Apple fanboy by any stretch of the imagination, but their philosiphy of 'show a produsct only when it's almost available to the masses' seems to work well enough...

Yeah, but Apple is a very well known brand. Their products are anticipated every year. If MM came out and announced Tearaway via a blog post a month before launch, who would see it? The game industry is vastly different than the consumer electronics one.

Over My Dead Body was in October, but I suppose that might not fit you definition of major releases. Anyway, for a different take on this discussion, I've put together a list of when various post launch Sony published titles were announced for the Vita (with two dates for those who had limited early reveals). I've split them up in quick 'n dirty "big" and "not so big" categories based on "fan appeal":

"Big"
Over My Dead Body - Tokyo Game Show '12
Tearaway - Gamescom '12
Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault* - Gamescom '12
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale* - E3 '12
Sly Cooper Thieves in Time* - GTTV Episode May '12
Soul Sacrifice - Famitsu April '12 / Reveal Event May '12
Gravity Rush - E3 '11
Warrior's Lair - E3 '11
Killzone Mecenary - NGP Reveal / Gamescom '12
Resistance: Burning Skies - NGP Reveal
LittleBigPlanet Vita - NGP Reveal

(Titles with asterisks were were announced earlier as PS3 exclusives.)

"Not so big"
Invizimals: The Alliance - Blog Post April '13
Table Mini Golf - Blog Post March '13
Epic Mickey 2 - Blog Post April '13
Jak & Daxter - Blog Post April '13
Uncharted: Fight for Fortune - Blog Post November '12
Box! Open Me - Tokyo Game Show '12
Table Ice Hockey - Blog Post Sep '12
Smart As... - Blog Post May '12
When Vikings Attack - Blog Post May '12
Travel Bug - Blog Post May '12
Ecolibrium - Blog Post May '12
Sound Shapes - Blog Post Jun '11

(Corrections are welcome if I got any of them wrong)

So, yeah, I'm going to say that there's a clear pattern here of Sony having a preference for announcing big stuff at conferences. Given that those haven't happened yet this year, I don't think pushing the too long since last major announcement argument again and again is particularly productive.

Eh, I think he should be able to speak his mind freely. Besides, this sort of thinking is part of the reason the old threads (not the monthly ones) got moderated and shut down. We should be able to talk about the good and the bad of the Vita equally. Besides, Toto posts here... and he's nowhere near that pessimistic by comparison :).

The same people who see it now? the Jak trilogy is coming out in June and was announced in April. Who saw it then? Also, I think the games and consumer electronics industries are a lot closer now than a lot of people realize; in fact, I don't think they are separate entites at all now. Consoles are now seen as consumer electronics, especially on sites like amazon (their video games section is in the same section as cell phones and music players, for example). I just think that there some areas of the current games industry which could use a little shakeup.

I'm pessmisitc about this because the current situation looks bleak and not just for the hell of it.

Don't sweat it guys, E3 will deliver...
....tons of PS4 stuff and a new wonderbook
Couldn't help but lol, also lolled lastnight looking at cartridge case. Holds 20 cartridges, have 8iirc in total, 5 more to add this year; SoulsS, Ys Celctae, Dragons Crown, Killzone(maybe) FFX HD.... Ummmm it wont die this next year but I hope to be buying more carts.....:-(?)

Is Killzone a franchise to push any-lil-moderate hardware if it were to be a 8-9 reviewed game? Speculation welcome:p

The salesage and doom and gloom discussion is supposed to take place in every other Vita thread. Does it really need to take place in here now too?

Meh i'm still optimist - E3 should bring annoucements of some good first party games, some big annual franchises (Fifa, Cod, maybe PES) as well as at least minimal 3rd party support (rumored Rayman, next AC game, some ps3 ports).

Then pricecut at Gamescom

Plus somewhere in this year new Vita LTE model which hopefully will allow us to play online on the go.

Meanwhile all the indie stuff will make waiting for September much easier ;)

Bought a Vita on the weekend - loving WipeOut (main reason I bought it) and the cross-over dlc to let me play HD/Fury as well for free!

What are some other good games? When is killzone out?

thanks

What are the chances of a new COD being announced?if done right that could be pretty cool.

If Activision thought the sales were ok... pretty good. Ubisoft were happy with AC:L, and (speaking subject to correction) COD did better than that, so I gues we'll see at E3 (or Gamescon).

People have the right to be concerned about the future of the vita and the get his/her money worth that he/she payed for it.

So, if you didn't actually feel that the vita worth your money spend right now, chances are that you'll never be. Vita situation won't improve. The indie heaven thing was a pretty clever and easy way out, but if you want your AAA exclusive experiences, better look elsewhere. It just won't happen. For myself, I got my satisfaction about a year ago, and I'm still in love with the device. I am easy to please, I guess.

Get PS+, download the Soul Sacrifice demo, and buy Persona 4 Golden. Killzone will be out on September 17 in North America.

Is all of this because nintendo announced another mario, another zelda etc? So what?
Sony is obviously at fault, vita needs more big games etc, but the 3ds situation is overrated imo.
Sony should absolutely try to do these:
-help developers that want to work on vita(for borderlands, xcom and bioshock on vita for example)
-release japan only games(ff type 0, phantasy star online 2, one piece 2 etc)
-better ads, stop with the nonsense and do game focused ads like the nintendo ones.

The hell did I miss? Did I accidentally walk into a media create sales thread?

It's become the new thing in the Vita thread (this thread) to just spiral into paranoia because there hasn't been a "big" game announcement, or not enough, as compared to Nintendo's pretty consistent announcements for the 3DS. People lose sight of the awesome games coming, both big and small, because we haven't been getting steady "big" support.

What we should be trying to do is get the word out of how awesome these game experiences are (like Soul Sacrifice, LBP Vita, etc) and try to get those games more support so hopefully more developers/publishers consider the platform viable still, despite the slow hardware growth. I know we've been pretty vocal with how happy/satisfied we are, but we just can't stop now - we need to keep getting people sick with how happy we are with our Vitas/Vita games.

If you guys can just do this for me - give some of these more "niche" game releases a shot, even if they're outside of your preferred genres. You know, games like Muramasa, Ys Celceta, Tearaway, Dragon's Crown. For more huge, mind blowing games like Killzone: Mercenary to make their way over we need to give smaller game releases a chance.

This is all IMO of course, you can just as easily take my reasoning and flush it down the toilet with the rest of the Vita/Wii U death threads that have been consistently crapped out since both platform's respective launches.

.... PS:
I almost lost it when I saw Oyashiro's thread about possibly abandoning his fellow Vitabros ... but I never lost faith! KEEP THE FLAME BURNING MY FELLOW VITACATS AND MUFFINS.

haha, yeah, the "3ds situation is overrated"...8:1. The circumstances are frustrating, we know, but don't take it out on little brother.

If Rayman Legends comes to Vita I'll have to get it there instead of Wii U.

Yes, please, let us sip our kool-aid in peace.

Umm...the only posts you've been making in here in regards to what everybody is arguing are like "man look at this thread!" "what's going on in here!".

I don't even see what's so crazy. The way a couple of you are talking is like people are having meltdowns left and right. I don't even know that I would call this discussion heated, let alone insane like some people are making it out to be.

Sid, I understand these frustrations that you've had and have been venting for many months now. A lot of us agree that we need more big games. It's just, why talk about that in here? Maybe say something every once in awhile, but it's no secret that you bring it up all the time. There are so many threads talking about the lack of big games. It's not like we're trying to push you out of here; we just go in here to get away from some of that constant negative discussion, you know?
