Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Tbh I don't follow JPN sales, nor do I know what's seen as good.
So is there some big party once a single entry in a series caps the million barrier? :p

Final Fantasy XIII is the only PS3 game to sell more than a million units in Japan. Resident Evil 5 did too if you count all of the budget re-releases.

Thanks

SS DD for me it is :D

Same here, although mine is mostly spurred by the idea that DD is like 50% cheaper than retail for the game here.

Even with 13? .... bleh I imagine 13 was doing good enough to warrant like three re-releases.
I'm honestly starting to think my perception of Japan has changed quite a bit this last generation.

It's unfortunate that you're outside the US, because I'm placing a Vita-sized order from Amazon Japan like this week (maybe even tomorrow) and it wouldn't be a big deal to add this on since I'm already getting so much stuff. But shipping costs from me to you would probably not be worth it. :/

How do you get Amazon Japan to send goods outside of Japan ?

Keep in mind that 13 was the hot new mainline FF everyone was waiting for and it didn't have the stigma it has now.

(13-2 was a massive flop by comparison, but that game had a shoestring budget anyway).

So does the Preorder bonus for Soul Sacrifice apply to retail copies?? I want this game on a cart to save digital space. You think Best Buy would have the bonus'?

For Japan GAF...

My wife's cousin is heading to Akihabara for a few weeks on business and offered to grab me one or two items. That said, how difficult is it to find the white Vita pouches at retailers? Namely this one:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005VLZWOW/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Go to Yodobashi/Yamada/Big Camera or any of those consumer electronics retailer giant's store and you should be able to find plenty.
If she's heading to Akihabara then just head to Yodobashi... that should be the easiest.

You might want to get this also, but it won't fit to the pouch :)

I finally bought a Vita, with Uncharted GA, WipeOut, Gravity rush, LBP and Person 4G....Man, I'm having a BLAST right now ! It's been a long time since I got so much satisfaction from a system I just bought (Dreamcast maybe, I guess I have a thing with unuccessful systems ! ;-)).
it's really a shame the sales are so low. After showing the Vita to my not-so-gamer friends, they are all "wow", grab it and play it for hours ...but are discouraged by the price to get one.

What's all this then?

They have no problem shipping most products overseas. It's the shipping costs that are expensive. And because they don't use regular postal services the chances of having to pay customs taxes are really high.
Yeah, if only they'd ship games and game-related items internationally I'd be set.
I can kind of understand the restriction on games and consoles (not wanting to deal with region lock complaints, maybe differing power supplies, etc) ...but stuff like Vita cases? Makes no sense. :/

Oh my! I guess I'll need to have her pick that up as well! Thanks!

Apart from his forwarder suggestion, there are (very few) sellers on Amazon who ship internationally.

The difference lies here, listed under their name as a hyperlink:
Local Only: 国内向け発送料金 (Domestic shipping fee)
International: 海外向け&国内向け発送料金 (Overseas and domestic shipping fee)

If you find a listing that has a seller with overseas shipping, you can order it directly from amazon! I believe. I've never actually ordered something from them as the shipping costs are huge.

Maybe I'm alone on this, but I'd much rather PS2 ports/"enhanced" editions than PS3 ones. P4G is just brilliant, and frankly, I don't know that I'd want to experience it any other way. Nintendo has employed this strategy with Mario Advance 1 - 4, metroid, Zelda etc. Let the vita take on what it can handily, instead of hamstrung versions of PS3 games (that, also, might I add, I can play on PS3). I guess since the whole cross-buy/save/controller feature set is selling point, my argument is moot, lol.

RE: Rayman Legends. I hope to the SONY gods they allow use of the vita ala Wii U gamepad. I'll buy, anyway, but that would incredible.

does anyone from canada know which (if any) retailers will carry the soul sacrifice preorder dlc, aside from psn? i was burned by ps all-stars not having the preorder dlc when i ordered it through futureshop last year, assuming every retailer got it.

i emailed futureshop and they just sent an email saying they don't have anything in their system. sigh.

If anything EB games probably will. I've never had a problem with pre-orders not coming through with them.

just checked their site and they DO mention it, so i guess ebgames will for sure have it. fucking lame, since i have it preordered at futureshop for $10 less..

edit: i just checked psn and it's not up for preorder either. is it going to be available for preorder in canada? anyone know? is it up for americans?

I see they added this to the referral page:

PS Vita Refer-A-Friend reward emails were sent to qualifying participants on April 15, 2013. If you qualify and have not received your reward email, please contact Playstation Support at Pscustomer_Service@PlayStation.Sony.com with the subject line: Refer-A-Friend. To ensure prompt service, please include your name, PSN ID, and the email address that you used to sign up for the Refer-A-Friend program.

So does that mean the rest of my referrals that say "Success - Pending" wont count now?

Welcome, great game choices. Now you know how most of us feel or at least felt. Did you get thise games with PS+? If not, you should consider subscribing. Some of your games are available with the service so you can trade them in. It's a good service. Also get Guacamelee, then you should be pretty much set.

New Corpse Party game for Vita. There's a pretty good chance of this getting a digital localisation, right?

Both PSP games got PSN releases so this one should probably also get one?
Still have to finish the first one, nice game.

After one month and I still don't have one... The one I really wanted was one of these two:

They were expensive and it seems impossible for me to find them, if anyone have some similar clean/simple alternatives please let me know.

I bought this one on launch day in Japan. Shit was expensive as all hell, but it's damn pretty. Not a very functional case though, and the indentation from the strap gets pretty deep over time, heh. I like it, but it wasn't worth the price it was going for at the time, which was around 5000 yen.

Guys whats the opinion on Corpse Party? I really like visual novels like 999 and VLR, is this game similar?

The first game is a PSP remake of what was originally a RPG Maker game. It's one of those RPG Maker games where the battle system is completely unused, instead you're just walking around avoiding danger (Silent Hill style) and experiencing very visual novel-esque dialogue. It's very well done, has fully voiced dialogue (Japanese voices only, no English dub included) and is genuinely scary despite the very 16-bit-like visuals.

I haven't played the second game (Book of Secrets), but from what I understand it is a fully traditional visual novel instead.

Thanks for the impressions fellow GAffer. Do you know a similar style? It's just for protection, not to be used as a travel case or something.

I just like those minimalistic styles a lot.

Yeah, that's what drew me to it as well. Wish I could recommend something else, but I haven't looked at Vita cases in a long while, since I haven't been bringing it with me lately and since I spent so much on that one, I figured I'd try to get my money's worth.
I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the cases out for sale, even that one if you can find one, and prices must have gone down a bit by now. You can definitely get something cheaper and more functional (cartridge pockets etc.)

I'm sure this won't go over well...

looks like a woman's wallet :/

lol, it kinda does.

Boo this man! ;) I just like the simple style, and I'm okay with that.

I also like this one:

But in Europe it can be hard to find those, and if there is it's very expensive hence why I'm stil looking for alternatives.

Thanks for answering. I do not need something big or for cartridges, just for the Vita itself. I'll keep looking!

Thnaks. Thinking about getting this and Persona 3 Portable.
