Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Would Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus be good for someone who's only played Ninja Gaiden 2? My favorite game of all time by far is Devil May Cry 3, so I think it's mandatory I try Ninja Gaiden Black as well. I did really like NG2 though.

I hear the Vita version has a few issues, so I wasn't sure. I could just download it on my 360 though.

Edit: Top of page? Oh shit. Uh, everyone buy Darkstalkers 3.

I've not done it on Vita before but on PS3 it always gives you the option to set an automatic download or whatever... i'll have a gander.

E: Just tried it myself and it specifies that "The content will be available to download to your PSVita on 3/5/13" so looks like no preloading for Vita still. Bummer.
When I try and download it, I get "the payment process for the pre-order is not complete". There's more than enough funds in the wallet so I guess they don't try to take payment just yet.

Weirdly, it's allowed me to set an automatic download for the japanese voice-over pack.

Cool, there's a demo for Sei Madou Monogatari on the HK store. Hope it finds a US publisher.

Also got my Asia copy of Project Diva f (in only 2 days, from one end of the US to the other, props to USPS), mint condition! I printed out the missing AR card on a piece of photo paper and it works perfectly, although Miku might be smaller for it.

Interestingly it seems that the Asia version has no age rating at all. Peculiar! If not bittersweet, because if not for that awful memory required box I hate, it would be a completely clean and unobstructed box art. So close, yet so far.

Also as expected, the game is a -lot- snappier than the PS3 version due to the non-wireless controls. I almost got 'Fine's exclusively by pressing every note too early to compensate for the PS3's lag. Not anymore! :)

Hey dude,

NGB on 360 is the best version by far, but...

The Vita game is basically a 30fps version of Sigma. What you want to do is ask for Sigma vs. Black, and wonder if Sigma's poor choices are worth playing on Handheld.

I would say if you're really into action games, then go for Black on the off chance that it becomes your fav or second most fav action game.

If you only really play action games once, and/or handheld gaming is very important for you (and a 30fps version of DMC3 that had random mods installed which made the game a bit less cool) them go for Sigma Plus.

tl;dr

Sigma Plus is a good port of Sigma, but Sigma is a bad port of Black.

I don't even really like NG2 or NG3, but I love vanilla NG/NGB/NGS. The NG1 remake is an amazing action game, no matter what platform you play it on. I just got done playing through NGB and NGS+ side by side a couple months ago (it was my first time with NGS), and the experience just reaffirmed my love for the game no matter its form. I prefer Black the most, though.

This says it best. <3

Play Ninja Gaiden Black on the original Xbox. It is the ONLY way.
The GoD version on 360 isn't too shabby. The CG cutscenes are a little choppy, and the lava blurring effect sometimes causes a weird white bar, but it's a great alternative to the actual Xbox version. Of course, you probably just meant NGB in general. In that case, nvm lol.

Yeah they don't take the payment until a couple of days before the game releases on preorders.

I think he got that backwards.

Sigma is a good port of Black. Sigma+ is a bad port of Sigma. Going from 60fps to 30fps with slowdown is not a good port. If you can get past the 30fps issue, you can at least take NGS on the go, which is kind of cool and it works well when it works. I hear NGS2+ is a REALLY terrible port though.

Disclaimer: my first experience with the newer NG games was NGS on PS3... curious, I read about what changed from NGB and I thought just about every change was an improvement.

^Actually, yeah, I can see it going both ways.

I was agreeing because I think NGS made a lot of really weird changes for people who thought Black was fine just the way it was (though, to be fair, some of those changes were good). NGS+ is just NGS with half the framerate and some minor additions. In that sense, NGS+ is a "faithful" port of NGS, while NGS is arguably an unnecessary re-imagining of NG1/NGB.

I still want NGB with NGS's camera controls. :(

Ah, I see. Alright, I'll stick to Black then. Thanks y'all.
Hey, even the worst version of NG1 is still better than many other action games out there...

I'm think I may be done with the Soul Sacrifice demo. Didn't do all the pacts in the trials but I wasn't even gonna download it in the first place... totally can't wait for the game to release!

I decided to get Thomas Was Alone on a whim.. decided I wouldn't then changed my mind. So glad I did! I'm at the third world and it's so charming... but I do feel like it's more of a $5 game than $8 (or $10).

Not exactly. I'm pretty sure that the general consensus among Ninja Gaiden fans is that the original Xbox version is the best. But the Sigma version is okay if you never played the original Ninja Gaiden Black.

Bought the Thomas Was Alone DLC. I know it's overpriced but I just enjoyed the main game so much and I'll probably get an hour or two out of it so that's not bad for $3.49.

Are you sure? I'm curious if you know the reasoning behind this because those were the only differences I noticed. It didn't seem like there were other emulation issues like input lag or anything beyond the trivial CG and lava graphical hitches. =\

Do you get a mail when your account has been debited? If so, hopefully at that point I'll be able to start the download.

Yeah but they take the money 2 days before release day so not sure you'll be able to start the download then >.< Guess you'll find out

Sigma plus is fine you adjust to 30fps. Don't let the purist scare you. And NGB is the best way but having NG on the go is great.

A bit off topic, but I think the only thing I noticed was gone from NG or NGB that I wanted in Sigma was the unlockable retro titles, like the Arcade game. *shrug*

Never played Sigma until Vita. Played all the NG games on Xbox. Sigma 2 on PS3 was cool except the purple mist. Yeah that would have been awesome having retro games.

I'm still waiting for a Gravity Rush sequel.

Best original Vita release, and use of touch controls. Man, great game.

If they tighten up the controls and some drop some of the blandness (red hue).

I would live more Uncharted if at all possible. That sweet sweet gyro aiming, imagine a true multiplayer... <drool>

I know I'm late and everything but I didn't realize Square's Million Arthur(free to play card game thing on JPN PSN) was a game I wanted to play over a year ago but couldn't, so now I really want to switch regions again and try it. ;_;

Vita bros (and sis), have any of you played the resident evil games years after they were released for the first time? I'm thinking of getting 2 and 3. My roommate also says get 1 but he's like super into them. I can't stand the controls but it's whatever. There's a dude named Mark (Marc?) on YouTube who posted a video of 3 running on Vita and it looks pretty nice.

A guy on Youtube got the Vita capture kit custom hardware. Click here to see his video testing it out with Sonic Racing, WipEout 2048, and LBP. So awesome to see. It makes me want HDMI out sooo bad. Hopefully he'll post more videos.
I wonder if there's a way to do this using the PS4's features. You could plug in your Vita into the PS4 and use its dedicated hardware to record.
