Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

personally, I don't know whether to be happy or sad at the thought of a Vita hardware revision

(no... there's no news on this... just a thought)

I'd say there will be a price drop (I'd guess before Christmas this year) then any revision will come out mid next year at the earliest.

what is the one Vita announcement we can guarantee will happen this year? ( discontinued doesnt count)

Guaranteed? Most likely a price drop. But what I hope for is that they announce a Vita + Memory Card bundle with a year of PS+. At least a 16GB so the IGC games fit.

It seems to me that potential buyers complain more about the price of memory cards than the price of the Vita itself. (Not that I blame them.)

I know my PS3 friends can't see me online on the Vita, but say I haven't used my PS3 in a week but use the Vita everyday. Will I still appear to them as last seen online 7 days ago?

Nope. I don't use the PS3 at all and still show up as recently online on my SO's account.

I would think Sony Bend's next game would have to be announced sometime this year. It's been over a year since they shipped Golden Abyss.

Unless they are working on a PS4 game. It seems odd that Sony has no problem announcing games that don't exist and probably won't (Bioshock Vita) years in advance, but not one presumably being worked on.

I think a "good" E3 for the Vita would look something like this...

Price drop to $199[if not revised to include onboard memory, then include at minimum an 8 gig card]

Higher capacity memory cards could include 128gb, and 64gb cards, though 64 seems the most likely. All memory cards would go down a tier in pricing, maybe even 2 tiers.

Sony bends next game,

One or two new ips announced

Sly, Ratchet, Ico, and god of war collections would join the Jak collection being Vita bound. (ps2 classics support would be even better)

Some third part support shown, something from ubisoft, maybe Fifa, and madden, CoD another maybe if it did alright(seems like everyone on my near app has bought the game.) I would also like to see Disney Infinity which i think was hinted at but not confirmed yet.

A couple of new high profile Indie titles announced, shown, and given dates. I feel like this one should be easiest given Sonys new found indie hype.

If it goes anything like that it would be a decent/good E3 for Vita imo. I more expect it to become a $200 PS4 controller though. I really hope that it goes well.

I'd love a better built-in camera. The current one is junk. I've never understood why it and the 3DS put such a large focus on Augmented Reality, the point being to be immersed, when they both use awful cameras.

hmm, personally, I am not that concerned about the camera. They are not used that often anyway. Maybe some things I would like in a revision is:

(i) A smaller back touch pad so that it is 1:1 with the front screen. Will increase the grip area as well. I have a grip attachment which solves this, but still.

(ii) A larger capacity battery. Battery densities in phones are increasing, I think the Vita's should as well.

(iii) A brighter screen. The screen is not bright enough to see in broad daylight comfortably.

(iv) A more accurate touch screen. Right now, the Vita's screen picks up my touch inputs even before my fingers touch the screen. The sensitivity needs to be calibrated.

Why do you think :P It'll always be gimmicky but since they chose to add a camera and games do support it, it'd be nice to have a usable one in a revision.
I guess they could remove the camera altogether otherwise. We really shouldn't have 'cellphone camera's anymore in 2013.

I wish they'd port Fatal Frame on Vita... And make use of the gyroscope and camera to take ghost shots.

Welcome Park uses the cameras so it's probably not going to be removed.

Doesn't Nintendo own that franchise?

Apparently, some site mentioned that they own it but the release of Fatal Frame on US PSN says otherwise. I guess they only own Project Zero 2 for Wii, Project Zero 4, and Spirit Camera.

Thomas has the worst implementation of cross saves that i've seen so far. I have to sync multiple times on both devices just to get it to work.

They took it over to make FF4, the first unlocalized game in the series, FF2 Wii, unlocalized in the US, and Spirit Camera, a kiddified AR "horror" game you have play in the light, one of the worst 3DS games out there. Hilariously the first they've localized in the US.

If you were wondering if Nintendo could ruin a franchise, there you go. Shame since the first ones were fantastic.

Anybody who passes up the Vita's best exclusive coming out in a week to play a port of an old fighting game is bonkers.

I might argue Killzone or tearaway is their best upcoming exclusive, but I agree with the rest of your statement. ;-) . plenty of better purchases for the system than more old fighters, ( though I may be a bit biased)

honestly out of all the responses, I think the price drop is the guaranteed announcement. which doesn't most of us (directly) who read this thread .

whether it is E3 or along with the Fall Lineup ( i can see an easy bundle with killzone or tearaway). Everything else is pretty speculative, even if it is assumed to be 100%. I really cant decide if sony will announce a mem card $ drop or bigger cards. In their mind, cards are their biggest money maker... so dropping the vita console price will only make people buy mem cards... dropping the card price is not really needed. selling consoles and making people buy any cards is more important than not selling as many consoles and letting people who own a vita already buy a bigger/more cards...i have hope for the vita really. it may stand on rickety legs, but i dont think sony will give up on it, not until they see how ps4 affects it at least. and if they put out a major retail release every 3/4 months peppered with a bunch of great indies, it is perfectly fine by me.

i may be a little drunk, but god damn i love my vita. i havent heard someone buy a vita and say they've been disappointed. Even Toto, he may have "sold" his, but it took him 2 years to regrettably do so.

godspeed vitagaf. I <3 you.

p.s. (to end on a constructive criticism) I do think Soul Sac could be a bit meatier in all aspects (sans bosses). also, how hard is it to have librom say something different other than " have you checked the droplets recently". And honestly stfu, they are tears, Librom. just admit you're crying. ok ending rant before it gets out of hand.

I suspect most of us that are disappointed with the Vita simply don't feel the need to say it that often. Certainly not in this thread.

I would love more games that's all
(lol not that I have enough time to play them... lol)

seems like the C-Wars guys posted an update

Dearest family and friends of C-Wars,

Peach trees are in full blossom here in Beijing, and we hope you’ve been enjoying a great springtime no matter where you are.

We’ve enthusiastically contacted Nintendo and been waiting for their response. In the meantime, we’ve already got in touch with Sony to talk about the dev-kits application process.

There might be things from Stretch Goals that we didn’t expect to achieve in a short time, but we promise we will try our best to make them happen eventually. It’s hard to guarantee a deadline for completion of all the unreached goals without enough funds. The basic development won't be delayed, but we do have to ask for your patience on the unreached goals. We understand you backed us because you trust us. Be confident that you’re in good hands!

Here’s a video we’d like to share with you. Come see what Onipunks the work mania looks like on a weekend!

Go pimp the hell out of C-Wars! Luna's fate is in YOUR hands!!!

Oh by the way! We’ve been exchanging email with another indie team. Guess who’s going to be the 4th and final Special Guest in C-Wars? Well, not telling you yet! :P

The Onipunks Team

i just hope they give the Vita bit more love.. the way they worded the update seems like the 3DS is the preferred platform (I know this obvious from the stretch goals... but I just thought with @shahid and all talking to them, things may change)

Toto hasn't sold his Vita yet, probly. He said he was going to be very busy for the next week or so. I guess people only focused on the negativity of his posts...

Yep!

If you enjoy puzzle kind of games anyway. There's certainly a hell of a lot of content there for the price.

I do :/

It wasn't on my radar when it was released at such a ridiculous price. But this is a pretty good deal. Only thing is, I'm drowning in Vita games, especially lately. I bought 3 PSM games yesterday, ordered Super Monkey Ball Banana Splitz from amazon (10 pounds), thinking of pre-ordering Soul Sacrifice for the DLC goodies, got Guacamelee, have a bunch of free Playstation plus games (Virtue's Last Reward, Thomas Was Alone, Puddle). That's excluding the other games I already bought a while before which were too much :(

Smart As demo was fun yesterday, the price is more fitting. I think I'm going ahead with it even though there are more than enough games as it is. Sometimes I wish I had a more limited taste in genres. Outsiders can moan about how Vita has no games, but it's hard to keep up with when you're invested and already own the system.

I still haven't started Atelier Rorona+..
(although a lot of it has to due with it not fitting on the same memory card as Soul Sacrifice)

How do you check how many posts were made BTW?

Click the thread post count and it'll bring up a list. =)

That is next up on my list. But my list of vita games is already so long. Dammit, why do I buy all these games then end up not playing them.

Yeah i have that too I still need to finish DWN, Shinobido, LBP, Sonic and haven't even unpacked P4G but last week i got some zavvi codes so i ordered Disgaea 3 for 18 pounds :D

I'm five days into mine and I can safely say it's one of the most impressive pieces of kit I've bought in recent years - I have no idea why it's taken so long for me to get one!

<3 VITA GAF too!

How many times have we read this sentiment? Nearly everyone that buys one immediately realises what they've been missing. Good on ya!

On that note, I bought EDF2017 Portable last night. I have no idea why it took me so long to buy it.

There's just so much bias towards it for some reason.

I think I was burned by the psp...I bought one at launch and it just never really took off with me. I felt as though each game was just a paired back version of a PS2 game.

There's just something satisfying about a VITA - I can't quite put my finger on it at the moment though...

FF7 Remake for the Vita.
lol that would be glorious

but I doubt SE has any money at this point

I'll see your FF7 with FFXII. I could get slaughtered for this but, as good as FF7 remake would be, I personally would love FFXII. If SE was going to do a FF7 remake they should have done it back when those tech demos were done.
