I paid good money for this Dynex!
Never did pick up the FF2 remake. Do you have to use motion controls? Might just get the Xbox version if that's the case.
The games BOMBED. Bombed hard. Nintendo probably funded the sequels probably on the fact that stretching that engine yielded efficient development costs. Taking Fatal Frame to HD on a smaller and more expensive userbase requires the furthest thing from logic.
With iwata, Nintendo would probably make Wii music HD before Fatal Frame.
FF4 is the best selling of the series in Japan though.
FF seems to be popular but it wasn't selling a lot on PS2 either.

Didn't it sell the usual 70-80k? I'm pretty sure it did. You have to remember Nintendo's metric for Japanese sales is different than Atlus or Marvelous. Those numbers are a waste of time to the sales directors at Nintendo.
I was hoping someone would point this out. With Nintendo's co-ownership of the IP, I'd say a WiiU Fatal Frame is very likely. And since the system needs games that showcase its strengths, I'd count on a global release this time. Expect to use the GamePad as the spirit camera, and expect the WiiU to leverage the HD strengths of the system to create superior visuals to previous installments.
The original report didn't list a source, but looking it up the copyright status in the US for Spirit Camera is jointly held by Tecmo and Nintendo, so they might have been going off that. Since there are no recent changes to the copyright listing of "Fatal Frame" in the US that I can find.
Also a trademark is different from a copyright.

F-Zero X and F-Zero GX almost doubled the sales. Might as well fund those games instead.

Famitsu tease? Tell tell
Or maybe during a Nintendo Direct.

Let me clear some things up.
1. The trademarks "Fatal Frame" and "Project Zero" are owned by TECMO KOEI GAMES CO., LTD.
2. Both Fatal Frame 4 and Project Zero 2: Wii Edition have joint copyright with TECMO KOEI GAMES and Nintendo.
3. All legacy IPs in the Fatal Frame franchise (Fatal Frame, Fatal Frame 2, etc.) are exclusively owned by TECMO KOEI GAMES CO., LTD.
4. There is absolutely no evidence, from Tecmo Koei financials, about the sale (or partial sale) of Fatal Frame assets.
5. There are, however, references to "joint Fatal Frame projects" that Tecmo Koei Games decided to do with Nintendo as the result of a co-development deal, including Fatal Frame 4, Spirit Camera, and Project Zero 2: Wii Edition.
Conclusion:
I have found absolutely no evidence thus far to indicate that Nintendo co-owns any share of the Fatal Frame IP.
What Dantis believes is true---Nintendo only owns joint copyright with the projects they funded and collaborated with Tecmo Koei.
In the us? 0%
Nintendo would be foolish not to. Fatal Frame could work really good with the controller and the system needs all the hardcore games it can get. Bayo 2 ain't gonna convince everyone to get the console.

Yes you do. The combat is also a lot tougher. The translation and localisation is much better though, and the graphics are stupendous for a Wii game.
Fatal Frame is hardly a system seller. Definitely not as much as Bayonetta 2 could be.

So the same situation as Resident Evil remake and 0 ?....emmmmm
The controls are ridiculous in that game. I understand "tank" controls are necessary but for the love of god they could have at least used the Wii motion + or the pointer. Vanilla Wiimote is just too imprecise for that game's design.
It's deliberate. FF4 had a Metroid Prime style lock on, and it ruined the atmosphere. Combat was too enjoyable.

Or MGS The Twin Snakes.
With Iwata as CEO, I'd say more like 50%
I don't really think him being CEO will change much.
Anyway, I suggest full scale boycott of Nintendo until they release more games in North America.
Nintendo handled terribly the games and the IP outside of Japan and now is basically dead on the west. So yeah a HD game is probably out of the question.
Dosn't help that the 3DS spin-off is a shitty overpriced product.
Thanks for the clarification. So there's nothing to preclude Nintendo and Tecmo-Koei from embarking on another joint-copyrighted project. The question is whether they are deterred by the alleged low sales of past installments, or whether the chance to make good on the potential posed by the GamePad takes precedence. The mechanical justification is certainly there, in terms of what asymmetric gameplay and HD could bring to the franchise. It just depends on whether the stakeholders think that's enough of an edge to make it a lucrative proposition this time around.Let me clear some things up.

Fatal Frame was never "alive". Nobody outside of survival horror circles knows the IP even exists, and even within those circles 90% have never played them. Tecmo won't even touch the series without Nintendo funding it.

All past Fatal Frame games were released in the west (so for Tecmo west sales while low they were enough) and it was a niche but probably the most popular niche horror series, it had it's place and fans in the survival horror genre.
Now it dosn't even has that.
