No, if I remember correctly it's kind of a rolling system where characters are eliminated by voting percentages rather than pluralities.

Explained basically, you choose your 1st favorite, that has a certain weight. You choose your 2nd favorite, that has less weight than the 1st choice. Then you choose 3rd, which has less weight than the 2nd or 1st vote.

Edit: You keep doing the above until someone has a major majority (read: more than 50%) of the vote.

There was another option to keep the vote the same but speed it up. I think the way they handled the questions made got the vote changing thing more votes than it would've otherwise but there's no way to tell now.

Yeah, the question about making the voting faster should've been before the changing methods one.

It's how the oscar votes work.

Everyone ranks 1-30. Character in last place with #1 votes is eliminated. Any votes cast for that person are negated and move down to that person's second choice. Process repeats until someone hits 50%. It helps get a consensus winner.

Annie and Minette and maybe Umbrella (due to all the salt) are the only girls with a real chance.
 
Eliza won? Guess the majority of the SG fanbase has taste after all.

That just sealed the deal on my PC version purchase, though I was going to support regardless.

The one I voted for. And if the rumor about the top 3 being sacked out for the next voting round is true, we can:

1. Stop worrying in such stupid ways about Minette and Annie.
2. Stop talking shît like 5-year olds about Mike Z and his "No Aeon" campaign
3. Stop complaining like the rabid fanboys we are since Panzer, Wulf, Isaac and Science Shark are still viable options for the last DLC character.

The way Alternative Vote works is that you pick a favourite character, a second favourite and so on. It works like normal for the first round. Then you start eliminating the least popular characters. This format is a bit weird as it is looking to eliminate ten characters on purpose in the first round, iirc?


Anyway, the least popular character is removed, and as you already know who those voters would vote for if they cannot have the removed character due to ranking via preference, you reallocate their votes. Then you remove the new least popular character and repeat.


What is important to note is that you do not need to rank every character. That is optional. If your position is "Annie or nobody!" then you would just put your first vote down for Annie.

Hmm, that's a bit worrisome.

I'm concerned that most people voted for it because they assume the sped up vote and the change of method was a package deal. I wished you guys would of asked about having a sped up vote separately before the question about the change of voting method. I think the result would of been different that way.

I hope it doesn't affect the integrity of the vote, but now I fear we'll have to play a bit dirty to stand any chance because everyone else will too. :/
 
The next poll should be interesting. It all depends on who Team Eliza will support next, and how much they'll split up.

You gotta remember that the last vote was a landslide. Voters tend to majorly split once the thing which united them is gone. Generally towards other contenders who seem likely to make it (Annie/Aeon/Minette), but there are also going to be voters who move towards fallbacks once their definite vote is determined.

The new format won't make the final result very different; the previous top 8 have the most chance of winning. I will be very surprised if the winner isn't one of them.
 
I still hope we can vote for 3-4 characters the first two rounds :(

well considering even ravi said it wasnt true i guess it was just people really hating on minette and annie :/ i dont really understand the hate they get since i see a lot of fanart for the 2

edit: also yay Eliza i really liked her design when i initially saw her so im glad she won

Gotta remember, energy flows where attention goes, and it's kinda funny, because while there is a vocal fan base for all of these characters, there are likely at least 4 or so characters in the top 16 who now have a chance in top 8. And again, given vote splintering, while Aeon/Annie/Minette have the best chance, it's rather unlikely that any of the other characters don't have a chance at this point (since there must be a top 8, and if the vote splinters again - which is likely - it may not be the characters you expect - a lot of people were shocked to see Stanley make it into the top 8).
