Norcal Regionals 2013 | Road to EVO 2013 Fighting Game Tournament | April 26-28

i know i'm late with this commentary but KBR should have started haggar to fight off ranmasamas haggar. magneto and dorm totally shit on haggar so it was going to be an uphill battle once hulk died. oh well at least it was good to see 2 haggars in top 8.

I am most disappointed in FChamp, mostly because I really felt that he had the best chance against ChrisG with his Dorm play. He threw away his match against KBR essentially sealing his fate.

I don't even know why he picked GR. It's not even a counterpick. GR's awful.

I don't remember where I read it but wasn't Infiltration afraid of Kazunoko? (Xian was also afraid of him)

Kazunoko bodied Xian in two straight FT3 MM's. He lost 3-0 each time. His teammate Kaizer(also a Yun player) also dominates him, he beat him pretty free in a FT7 during the Singapore league a while back. Basically Yun is a bad match up for Gen. Xian even asked for nerfs to the character despite the fact that he doesn't need any. He's a pretty fair character now.

As for Infiltration, Kazunoko did eliminate him from Canada Cup last year 2-0.

He ran into two Fei Longs (a good akuma matchup) and Daigo.

Japan has the most experience vs Akuma so there is still more to see.

I honestly thought the guy with the best chance of beating Infiltration was Tokido, but he never got the opportunity to fight him of course.

Just got home from NCR. I liked the experience a lot. I got to play a lot of good players and explored the South Bay with my gf when I got done playing.

Sucks that I got blown up on stream, by players and commentators, but I learned a lot from the experience. Sucks that I smelled that day the 5 hour drive and working on the AC in the morning didn't help. I'm definitely looking forward to my next major. Hopefully I'm relaxed enough to go for real combos on stream next time instead of LMH.

Also Fchamp himself said on twitter after his loss that he went 10-2 on KBR using mags dorm doom in the fgtv house.

They played a lot of casuals together on Saturday night. Probably thought it would be the smarter choice after that.

Why would Fchamp try to counterpick in the first place? Mags+missiles and Dorm+missiles would zone out KBR's team fine.

Because he's an idiot. Seriously him and Apology Man were the two people going into NCR that had a real shot at taking down Chris G. Apology Man played his heart out the entire tournament while FChamp embarrassed himself once again with his arrogance.

Xian beat ChrisG, PR Rog and Ricky today, among others. Adding all the matches, he went 6-6 with infiltration, I think that's a first.

Infiltration IMO. Recently his SF4 seemed to be on another level completely. Xian did well, but still...

I would also say Infiltration because he's literally beating the world. SF4 is huge everywhere and Infiltration has been taking down all the very best players from practically every region in the world. What Chris G has been doing is just as impressive, but this is why I give the nod to Infiltration.

BTW, did the stream numbers hit 30k during either Marvel or SF4 or both? I work Sundays so I couldn't watch it live. Just wondering how big the numbers were for the stream.

I used to go to Golfland Sunnyvale to play MvC2 and I'd be playing casually until one of these tournament types would come up and wreck the shit out of me. A little satisfying to see some of these guys get worked in a similar fashion, just with more at stake.

But seriously, ownage tournament though. First tournament stream I've watched. I'm really impressed and stoked for EVO. Bummed I missed out on MK9.

SF4 was 30k flirting with 31k but didn't quite get there, numbers dropped to 27k for most of Marvel until about grand finals, when it got back up to 30k.

That makes this the 2nd biggest non-EVO FGC stream ever. What is it about California that gets bigger numbers then everywhere else? Even FR only peaked at 25 or 26k from what I remember hearing.

FR was on Easter. SCR got to 30K too IIRC, and I'm pretty sure SF25th got 35k.

I thought SCR hit 31K? That's why I said NCR was the 2nd biggest non-EVO stream ever. SF25 was backed by Capcom so I didn't include it. But during it I think Twitch showed 25k, but 10k or so from Japan were watching a restream over Nico Nico or something like that, right? But good numbers, it does show some growth as no Major from last year reached 30k.

NCR capped at 31,549 according to Fishstix.

I don't remember exactly what SCR capped at but it's so close that it's just splitting hairs.

That still doesn't excuse F. Champ not switching characters when he lost twice in a row.

both magus and someone else (forgot who) thought that Champ didnt want to lose with his main team, and also mentioned that he knew GR gave Kane trouble.

Unrelated but I think I'm probably the one of the few actual people that main Ghost Rider... :(

Kreygasm, hope you guys enjoyed the stream. Vic and I have been trying to work together on an event for over a year now, so huge thanks to Chris Ceglia from Iplaywinner and John Choi/Terry Kineda for making it happen and I hope y'all enjoyed the result!

I think the production quality of the event was one of the best I've ever seen. Also it's the only FGC 720+ stream I've been able to watch as somebody from the UK, you guys did a really amazing job.

Yeah credit where credit is due. I didn't watch as much as I would have liked, but what I did get to see was pretty flawless.
