New GTA V Trailers "MICHAEL. FRANKLIN. TREVOR."

I don't know why I keep being surprised by complaining on this site.

I loved the trailers. This game seems so right up my alley it's sick. I will not read any more previews or reviews.

Character models looked mostly fine to me, except for Michael's wife or whatever. Eugh, dem eyes!

I'm asking that just because a trailer is "amazing" doesn't mean the gameplay will be. They are not one and the same yet everyone has already decided that the game is "best ever".

People reacted the same way with other rock star games yet the trailers don't always represent the final product and some people forget this. Sometimes balanced heads leads to better discussion but I might be off by saying that.

We ain't here to discuss gameplay cos there ain't any. We're here to discuss the trailers, of which there are three. Gameplay cannot be ascertained from these, but atmosphere, graphical fidelity and story can.

Graphics look alright, but I don't understand why anyone thinks "it can not be current gen." Everything there seemed very feasible with current generation consoles.

I'm faaaaar more intrigued by the gameplay\story\characters. I love me some open world games.

Doesn't look good at all. Guess GTA3 will forever be the essential GTA game.

quintessential ;)

No game is essential :p

Facial expressions are really good.

Music selection is still one of the strongest assets GTA has. I liked every trailer for what it was but Michael's trailer with Radio GaGa playing was giving me the best vibes.

I seriously can't wait to explore the meticulously crafted world Rockstar has created.

GTA needs to be controversial again to really get the spark back. I can understand that people feel everything is clockwork in terms of how they approach the game. A skinhead game would probably do that, but I wonder if more people would feel morally conflicted

They already pretty much came close to that with Lost & Damned.

I would argue all of it is worth it, play some of each and see for yourself.

There is little crossover between the stories though.

Yeah, the cross over with the stories doesn't really change the stories or isn't required to understand it. But if you play through them all, you do get something extra out of it as there are many scenarios in the game in which all three stories overlapped, but they're told from different perspectives.

It is quite well choreographed, if you think about it.

All of them look great. Michael's definitely has that Soprano's angle which is great. I'm a sucker for Hood films, so Franklin is appealing in that regard. And Trevor just don't give a fuck it seems.

I see Franklin's friends are sporting green in their clothing. I'm hoping this means Grove Street is still alive and well.
Huh, didn't even think of this. Pretty sure I also saw them shooting at dudes in purple. I think purple was "The Ballas" or something like that in San Andreas.

Housers have said current gen GTA is basically a different universe than the PS2 GTA's aside from smaller stuff like Lazlow and brand names, so it might just be a little wink and a nod to the old gangs.

I gotta say, Trevor makes me more interested in this game than I was. The other two are alright, but Trevor seems so much more entertaining.

Wondering how trophies/cheevs will play out in this. Like if there will be story related as well as character specific ones.

"Trevor: Hijack and then blow up 50 cars"

Totally in it for the Michael story line. Trevor looks nuts in a good way as well, but hopefully they do ground the character somewhat. The whole hood/gansta vibe in the Franklin trailer has never done anything for me.

Because he is black.

But you can't write that on NeoGAF so you have to find something else to describe it. I can't relate etc.

Or it could be because it seems like the same exact "respect the streets, trying to get out of the game, etc." that was already done in San Andreas. Why couldn't the black guy be in Michael's role? Why does he have to be a cliche gang banger?

Boring.

-Teenager is a COD addict, isn't he?
-Online passes/publishers trying to kill used games?
-Instagram?
-Facebook? Social Media? We saw cellphones predominantly in GTA IV
-Minigames on our cell phones?
-Gangnam Style? Harlem shake?
-Memes? Rage faces?
-The new pope?
-Bronies?

We need a GAF Bingo card for this

Agreed on that btw. I should have noted that in my first post. That middle section was the weakest.

Looks decent, but I'm feel I'm starting to suffer from open world fatigue. I'm sure I'll get this, but my interest is no longer as high as it was when they initially revealed the game.

Here's another possible connection with IV.

TBoGT credits spoiler:

It is revealed in the credits for The Ballad of Gay Tony that Packie left Liberty City with a duffel bag on a west-bound flight to an unknown location. Theories of his destination include:
[..]
Los Santos: Moreover, its possible to consider that Packie is leaving Liberty City when the plane flew over the large lighted "V" sign, which signifies the departing from Grand Theft Auto IV's setting to Grand Theft Auto V's new setting, Los Santos, which is set in San Andreas which makes it somewhat possible that Packie is heading to Los Santos. He might have some importantce in the game, (with the dufflebag he has, likewise), and might appear in Grand Theft Auto V.

Franklin's friend seems more like the cliche gang banger. Franklin basically wants to avoid exactly that and I'd assume will do so once the main storyline kicks off and he joins up with Michael and Trevor.
