$1500?!?!?!?!!!!!!!1

Damn dude. For that kind of money spent, I would for sure wear it. I used to wear my High School ring a lot. At least until I went to college, mainly just stopped fitting.

The ones posted in this thread are the most gaudy pieces of metal I have ever seen. I'd feel embarrassed for the people wearing them.

Surely not all of them are this bad?

A passionate embrace, a beautiful memory lingers.
Well my parents kinda forced me to get one. My dad really wanted me to get it for some reason. I'm the first in my family to really go to college, so I guess it's a big deal to them, even though I don't particularly care that much

Well damn, I didn't think it was THAT bad lol

Crazylegs had the right idea. Even more so if you are one of the first to go through college in your family. Be proud of it. If you want a fancy ass ring, go for it. Don't forget GAF hates everything.

I can't imagine ever wanting a class ring, unless I went to Harvard or Yale or a Jedi Academy.

No joke, there's a "Wizard Academy" outside of Austin, TX. I hope they sell rings. I may look into some summer wand-flicking.

I mean it's your own money but you can put $1500 to better things, especially right after graduation. Never seen someone where one before

Never heard about vlass rings but I guess it's because I'm canadian and I never went to university... If you paid 1500$ for it you should wear it.

My fiancee just found the pick on his facebook:

Kind of hard to make out, but the double T is filled with diamonds. Like I said, it's a bit big and I don't like wearing it day-to-day. However if we're out together at an event (this particular case was at a casino) and he's wearing it I'll wear mine as well. Otherwise it's reserved for special occasions and school functions.

they are usually pretty ugly or overwhelming in size. unless you are rocking all sorts of other wrist jewelry it is gonna look well, ridiculous.

My girlfriend does.... kind of annoying. I mean, it's high school! And she graduates college in two days.

But I think in time, I plan on getting a college ring. Fuck if I am spending anywhere near $1,500 though. More like $300-$400 tops when I have some money to burn...

Edit: Shit, they start at $421 at UCF through Herff Jones. Fuckers

Is that not normal??? That was about the average cost (14k, diamonds). Plus I paid for part of it with a payment plan where they charge you $75 a semester starting your freshman year

A payment plan for a vanity ring?

Edit: That looks gaudy. :(

First I heard about class rings.. it boggles my mind.

I don't personally care for them, and that seems like a lot to spend on a class ring, but whatever floats your boat. If you are regretting it that much, sell it to a classmate or something.

I'm an expert

Formerly worldrevolution. The only reason I am nice to anyone else is to avoid being banned.
LOL. Wearing a class ring.. oh god.. oddly enough a few weeks ago we realized a fresh out of college office clerk in our building wears his. We make fun of him all the time.

You've already lost, but you can rectify yourself by selling the ring and putting the money into the portion of economy that isn't built to manipulate young minds.

They usually look ugly as fuck so I wouldn't wear it. But since you spent the dough I would find some nice way to mount it or display it at work or in your home office/den/whatever.

Good luck with that man. I haven't seen one Men's class ring cheaper than $600...

Looks nice man! Looks like I'll be keeping it in the case until a special occasion comes up

My mom gave me a ring that costs her $1,000 for my birthday last year and I'm in the same boat as the OP. I appreciate it and I think it's amazing but it's rare that I'm dressed up enough to wear it in a way that makes sense.

I got a high school ring. $400, gaudy as fuck. Don't wear it.

Didn't even bother with a college ring. It would look like I was wearing a girl's ring anyway. Damn small fingers... ._.

God bless all my old friends/And god bless me too, why pretend?
Jesus, I'm not even going to my convocation ceremony because I don't want to give the school more money ($35) for the gown and hat rental. $1500 for a ring seems crazy.

I have one that I received as a gift that I wear everyday. Of course I got mine back in 2000 before gold prices got out of hand and my parents only paid $500 for it. I actually still get a lot of people commenting/complimenting me on it because they aren't that common anymore.

If you don't already have a wedding ring I would wear it. It's not nearly as bad as the engineer rings :p

Here is mine. The stone is amethyst which is my birth stone.

Man, my parents forced me to walk across that stage during my HIGH SCHOOL graduation. I don't even want to think about the death threats I'd get if I didn't walk during my college one. If I had a choice, though, they would mail me my degree so I can go home already

I know literally zero people running around with high school or college rings. even those who bought some stick them in a box never to be seen after a year.

those rings are a scam and a half and you got taken to the cleaners OP

I always thought it was pretty stupid unless you played football/basketball in college and won something.

A tie??? What the hell?

A tie can actually look good when worn with a suit. It's also just as nice a reminder and relatively inexpensive.

One of these $1000+ gaudy gold finger-nuggets though, well, unless you are Ghostface Killah, you look ridiculous.

Bought my own with internship money--just gold though, no diamonds. Wear it every day. Gotta fly that school flag.

edit: all you jokers saying you've never seen someone wear one need to open your eyes or stop eating every meal at McDonalds.

they're almost exclusively worn by public school wankers.

there are also things like oxford university hoodies, but they are almost exclusively bought from fake football kit vendors and worn by chinese tourists.

Haha, sorry man. But afaik a university/college tie is the closest equivalent here. My old boss had his Trinity tie on regularly.

Edit: As ghst notes they're usually the preserve of a certain demographic.

Any chance you guys could post a pic of these ties? Or the name? Googling "european school tie" didn't work out as well as I hoped

On the topic of rings from college, how many engineers would actually wear the iron ring? It's pretty low key so I'd probably get one.
I'd wear that if it was a thing here in the US

In MURICA, you can purchase "class rings" aka fancy and expensive rings that typically has your college name and year of graduation. They have them for high school and college.

GradProdRings.JPG

For college I don't think there's anything wrong with it as it symbolizes hard work and accomplishment, but people who wear high school rings scream "I peaked in high school."

$1500 is a lot of money though. You could almost buy a PS4 AND an Xbox Infinite for that much.

Oh god, this is a joke right? Looks like a desperate substitute for a signet ring.

If you spent 1500 on it then go ahead. I didn't buy a class ring because the cheapest I could get (silver + stones) was $800-$900 and I thought that was absurdly expensive. But if you already dropped the cash then you might as well use the ring...

Shit, they don't wear rings like that everywhere else? Moving to Cali in a few months, and I don't want to make it THAT obvious that I'm from Tx

I'm in Maryland and I've seen plenty of people wear class rings. It's not the norm but it's not incredibly rare either.

Why would you spend $1500 on a ring you weren't sure you'd want to wear? Should've just gotten a cheap one with cubic zirconia or whatever.

Also yeah, I've always thought wearing a class ring is tacky as hell, so I never got one. Always thought it screamed "living in the past" like Uncle Rico from Napoleon Dynamite. But, that's me.

I'm on my phone but try Googling "Trinity college Oxford tie". Or one of the other Oxford or Cambridge colleges.

It won't be anything to blow you away. Simple blue striped tie I think.

biggest waste of money I ever made. Not only are they some of the ugliest rings in existence, you really wont care about it in 10 years,
