From what I've seen of him Strootman isn't THAT good, like he isn't going to be a Yaya Toure or Vidal IMO, he isn't at that level.

But he is still quite good. A well rounded player and very much box to box. Seems a good fit for United. Strong and mobile, decent on the ball, bit of a knob, can clank. I really want us to sign him because I think he has a good mentality which is lacking in out other CM options.

Hopefully we do but there hasn't been a credible story about it in ages.

I'm hoping if we do get him, he'll make us better defensively in midfield. Like you say, I doubt we'll be able to control games, I feel thats more down to the playing style and the type of players we have currently. But, it'll be a good change to see someone alongside Carrick who knows what they're doing when asked to defend.
