United will hire from within for their new manager when Ferguson steps down.

They need a no nonsense manager that follows the winning principles set down by Ferguson who can extend the evolution of the team, rather than enforce a revolution. Someone of great experience, a person that commands respect throughout the game. It's fucking Moyes. It just is.

Ancelotti?

For EPL followers, if Liverpool finished sixth next season, within say 8 points of 4th, would you consider that reasonable progress?

Also, is there anything cuter than waking up to find your cat curled up a foot away from your face, with their head upside down?

Ancelotti?

Believe the rumours that he's going to Real, and I expect him to stay there for a few years at least. I also don't think he's the successor the United board crave. I don't think United want to be in the position whereby they're hiring a new manager every three or four years, they want a long term replacement, someone who's proven they can stay dedicated to a job for an extended period of time.

Moyes has been at Everton for 10 years now.

He's also very settled in the North West. Went from Preston to Everton, and United's another short leap (geographically).

Is there anyone available who doesn't spend long at his clubs, but has taken a step up each time? I think they'd be fine with someone like that, since you can't really go higher than Man Utd, unfortunately.

Any of you guys gonna stay up to watch the Sony E3 conference? Its on at 2am Friday 11th June :(

Some people just like to move around.

Ancelotti's on the verge of leaving PSG after a year. I know Real's a promotion of sorts but it's not like he didn't know what PSG were when he took the job. He's hardly thrown himself into the job, and in fact it's like he's seen it as 'just a job'. If that's his attitude then I don't think it tallies with what United want next.

Hypothetically, say Moyes was in his first year at a club like PSG, I don't think he'd jump if Real came calling. Again there are certain principles I think United want.

I'd say it might be seen as progress, but it would be a fair bit underwhelming. There's still a chance that could be where we end up this season.

I think we really should be looking to finish 5th at a minimum next season, and put up a real fight for 4th.

I never even considered Moyes, to be honest.

I don't think United want nor need an exceptional character or face after Ferguson; he's built a legacy that they can live off for a decade beyond his passing (job, not death). Look at Liverpool after Shankly, promoted Paisley from within and the club continued to flourish on the stable foundations left behind, and exceptional if understated coaching from Paisley.

I don't think United can quite promote Phelan and be done with it, fans won't be satiated by that in today's football climate. I do think they can hire Moyes to have a similar sort of effect, without having 659 million people shout at them for not hiring Mourinho.

The amount I've discussed this I really should've written a book. But fuck putting my name on something United-related. I'll look like an utter cunt when they hire Pellegrini, too.

I'm going to fucking die laughing when one or both of your twin horcruxes of footballing prophecy.
Can't picture you reading Harry Potter.

Did you buy the adult edition with the moody artwork?

I'll let you off for providing me with that gif.

Marca's proposed Madrid team for next season looks mad. Says they're signing Bale, Verrati, and Gundogan, as well as some Leverkusen rightback.

buy back clause FTW

Leverkusen right back is some Madrid player they just sold last year lol. Business sense of a fucking turkey.

Don't think they'll get Gundogan and Verratti. Would mean selling one of Alonso/Khedira/Modric really.

alonso will be sold, he did not extend his contract

I think its too early for that though. We could well sell Suarez, keep half the money in the bank and tell Rodgers that we have to make do with Borini and Yesil picking up the slack :P

Spurs could strengthen, Arsenal and Chelsea will definitely strengthen (assuming they replace Lampard sufficiently)

Everton may well end the summer stronger than they started it as well. We're playing catchup as it is, we need a few things to go our way.

-Good summer business (keep Suarez, backup DM/RB/LB/GK/CB/CF/R&LW, starting centre-back, starting winger)
-Friendly fixture list, especially the first 5 games (momentum means so much)
-Clubs around us not breaking the bank, or failing to reinvest effectively
-Clubs around us starting poorly

Any of those go wrong, and we may well be out of it by November again :(

Turns out word that we would turn down the Europa League via fair play means was utter bollocks.

Rodgers just said we wouldn't.

As I said, assuming we keep Suarez, we need about 7 signings to complete the squad, but only really need 2 to go straight into the first team;

First team signings: CB and LW

Squad signings: GK, CB (or RB depending what we do with Wisdom), LB, DM and ST.

We can realistically do 4 of them this summer I would say, so if we looked to get in the two first team signings, along with maybe a LB and ST as backup this summer, we could look a hell of a lot stronger next year.

It all comes down to the quality of the signings. If we get them in before pre-season and they hit the ground running, I give us every chance, especially if one of the other top 5 or 6 teams has a bad summer.

Why bother? Just watch it at you own leisure over the weekend. 'GAF and most streaming sites will be falling apart during E3 anyway.

Why turn it down. It's a bloody good competition. It's the setup that's all wrong.

Barney Ronay has produced his greatest work yet, and is entirely correct:

Only surprise about Mourinho's return is people think it's a good idea

Witness, for example, the degree of outrage over ITV cutting short its broadcast of Mourinho's prepared self-promotional speech after Real Madrid's Champions League exit in midweek, the best part of which was the spectacle of his premature eviction from the screen, the look of shock on his face at finding himself led away by the wrist, suddenly meek and helpless, like a grandmother caught shoplifting.

Tuttosport: Cavani has agreed personal terms worth £140,000/week + bonuses with City, clubs are negotiating a fee that could include Dzeko.

He's already betrayed god and and his family, now he'll betray his club. #Traitor. Dzeko isn't going to Napoli though, he's Dortmund bound.

what is the point

the reason its such a good book is because things come to a head from the first two

the youth of today has no fucking patience. GOSH DARN IT.

series 2 was pretty bad compared to the book
FFS.

Heading back to Smiths to buy ACOK then.

Best be good.

In Sleeping Dogs, can some of the buildings containing Jade Statues only be accessed after certain story missions?

Yeah. I spent 20 minutes trying to find a way into a building because I could see a statue through a window.

Then the very next story mission had me going into it.
