Plus if Suarez goes, we should get a minimum of at least £40m. I have being think recently if it would be worthwhile to cash in on Suarez. As amazing as he is it may serve us well to strength our squad all over. If you look at our bench we lack players. New centre half, extra left back, extra defensive midfielder, extra winger would do our squad wonders.

I can see the logic in your thinking, but in our curret position, it doesn't sit well with me selling a 30 goal a season striker.

I would much rather play him on the right wing, and let him do that mad thing he does on the byline. He's also probably be less likely to get frustrated beating a fullback than he would beating two centrebacks on his own.

Suarez right wing, Coutinho at no 10, and then a new winger on the left would be fantastic for our first XI next season.

Hmm, as you all know by now we have red cancer grabbing the championship in the Bundesliga. While BVB and Neverkusen will be playing in CL next season.

The CL quali (4th) spot is up for grabs and today Gladbach will try to preserve their chances to get there vs. Schlolke (and fail).
As for EL, I feel like Frankfurt and probably Gladbach will end up at 5-6 while Stuttgart is already qualified through the cup.
EL for Freiburg could end up disastrous for them since their squad is nowhere near deep enough and they're also being torn apart by bigger clubs, sadly.

Tomorrow is pretty much Bremen's last chance to avoid straight relegation (17-18) vs. Hoffenshit and hopefully they'll prevail and send them into second division.
Augsburg will fight the good fight, but end up in the relegation play-offs, probably vs. Köln. Though Düsseldorf vs. Köln would be epic (since both those cities have a rivalry even beyond football).

Now you do a summary of your leagues (if the respective season is about to end that is).

Huh?

Of course Arsenal do, they've got Champions League qualification and Premier League television rights. They possess the ability to spend far more than we do, but they choose not to do so. Spurs are the more limited of the three, but they've been efficient in their dealings and have grown their commercial arm alongside that.
Arsenal only made a profit last year because of their sales in the transfer window.

They have cash in the bank which they could use but on an operating cost level they aren't particularly rich - and that's with the endless years of CL qualification.

Everyone will benefit from the new TV rights deal but alot of this money is going to be swallowed up in wages - even so the benefit should be spread throughout most teams evenly.

They signed the new deal with Emirates which should be of some help but I'd be seriously surprised if they end this summer spending significantly more than Liverpool do.

You're reading the Dutch news now? :P

Do you know what the club is planning for him? Will he play or is he going to be benched like happened to Assaidi at Liverpool?

Replacement for Godmar. Unfortunate, but this is how football works. Would love for Aimar to either stay in the club with a different position (maybe as a scout) or for him to become a coach and come back to coach the youth system until he becomes the head coach.

Don't think he's going back to River to end his career, seeing as his wife doesn't like Argentina much.

Djuricic is more than welcomed, looks like a good player.

I understand why LFC would consider selling Suarez but they'd be crazy to do so. Not every transfer works out. Maybe they sign 2-3 guys from what they get out of him, but do any of them have the same impact? Not likely.

Arsenal still aren't guaranteed Top 4 although it'd be fairly shocking if they didn't win all 3 of their final games. The fact that Spurs and Chelsea play one another is probably going to be enough to ensure they make it though. Presumably whoever wins the Spurs/Chelsea game will finish 3rd or 4th.

I'm not sure Spurs or Arsenal have the means to spend something like £40m net which Liverpool have done in the last two seasons. Perhaps with the CL money one of them will be able to but I'd be surprised, it would be completely unprecedented for either of them.

Well we did try to spend £20m more in the last two windows, first on Moutinho, then Damiao. We seem to have enough cash for one big signing.

You mean after we beat a hopeless Newcastle side six nil?

That's a misnomer, if we've got any hope of returning to the Champions League we need Suarez.

No i've been think about it for a while. I know that the Newcastle game misnomer. I think that we have a better chance of progressing up the table with a stronger all-round squad than relying on a star player. We are unlikely to get back into the Champions League next season, especially with Suarez's banned games. I can't see him staying the season after for more non-CL football. Best to cash in on him now after he has had a prolific season.

In an idea world we would be able to strengthen and keep Suarez, but I don't expect our transfer budget to be that much. It's going to be sell-to-fund.

We are not going to get £17m for Carroll, teams know we are desperate to get rid of him.
If we are lucky we would get £5m from Coates. His potential value has been ruined by not playing him this season. It's not worth considering how much Spearing will net the club. I hope Henderson is not going to be sold as our only other alternative to raise money for the players Brendan wants (Its not as if we are going to make a profit on him anyway).

Don't get me wrong, I think Spurs and Arsenal WILL spend this summer.

I'm saying I expect Liverpool will keep in line with what they've done the last two years and spend something like £30-£35m, net. I don't see Spurs and Arsenal spending a massive amount more (£50m+) which would then blow Liverpool out of the race for CL spots next season.

I don't really buy into the whole star player narrative. Suarez is a good player, but he's also been able to perform because there are a lot of decent pieces in the Liverpool squad already. 40m... that's a lot of money, if spent properly. But everything hinges on that "if," of course.

Levy's so good he can't even give his money away.

I think in both cases the 'selling' clubs ended up getting cold feet and dicked us around. Even Levy's legendary time-resistant fax machine didn't help.

Swiss Ramble has been tweeting about United's third quarter financial results.

Swiss Ramble ‏@SwissRamble 7m

Man Utd's Q3 2012-13 revenue of £92m was higher than 13 Premier League clubs in whole of the 2011/12 season

Man Utd's Q3 12-13 revenue was about the same as Newcastle's total 11/12 revenue (NUFC 7th highest in England)

This is interesting

It’s not all good news in these figures, as wages have again grown by an unexpectedly high 25% to £44.9 million following expensive arrivals in the summer (including Robin van Persie from Arsenal and Shinji Kagawa from Borussia Dortmund), renegotiated contracts for existing players and growth in United’s commercial team. That said, the important wages to turnover ratio actually fell 2% to 49%

Leverkusen right back is some Madrid player they just sold last year lol. Business sense of a fucking turkey.

Don't think they'll get Gundogan and Verratti. Would mean selling one of Alonso/Khedira/Modric really.

Khedira. Sure, he runs a whole fucking lot around the pitch, but so do players like Vidal and Gundogan and they actually provide fantastic attacking and link up play outlets. Khediras like a fucking stone golem.

Never understood the fascination with him.

Can't remember a single thing he said.

You missed the part when he said Robben >>>> Cristiano ??

or when he told some guy he hoped the cartels killed his whole family lololol

Edit: It was Robben, not Ribery vulva! Its even madder!

I hope there's a Madrid fire sale this summer. I'd definitely take players like Di Maria or Modric at Arsenal.

No he said Ribery is better than Ronaldo.

He said Robben was on Messi's level or something like that.

TouchlineDrama: Pic of José Mourinho producing a piece of paper with his managerial 'facts and achievements' at his press conference. http://t.co/sUd1cT4QOW

TouchlineDrama: Mourinho was asked why he failed—"What failure? I was correct with my methods, just as I was correct in not picking your beloved youngsters"

TouchlineDrama: Mourinho on his title win—"This Barcelona side is the best team of the last 20-30 years and that gives even more credit to what I achieved"

TouchlineDrama: Mourinho to Madrid-leaning journalists—"You want to forget my title win? Well 20 years without a European Cup win can't be forgotten either"

TouchlineDrama: Mourinho—"The 3 Champions League semi finals I took Madrid to cannot be called easy considering 18 prior coaches in 21 years reached only 5"

TouchlineDrama: Mourinho slips into the third person—"5 [Champions League] semi finals in 21 years. The Mourinho you label a failure managed 3 in 3 years!"

The new Zidane.

Arsenal are fucking stupid.

So stupid is not spend way past what you have and still managing to finish higher than 16/17 teams in the league? OK.

I hope there's a Madrid fire sale this summer. I'd definitely take players like Di Maria or Modric at Arsenal.

Di Maria is shit and Modric is not what we need. In the middle we need a box to box midfielder that can give us 10+ goals a season not someone who can make the odd pass now and again.

Any decent strikers around though? People been saying Jovetic but I don't know what he's like.

Leverkusen right back is some Madrid player they just sold last year lol. Business sense of a fucking turkey.

he's actually quite good. madrid has a buying back clause and if the rumors are true is just a tad above what leverkusen payed for him.
dat voller

So stupid for not maximising commercial revenue and building a team that can compete for trophies. So stupid for selling their best player to a 'rival'. So stupid for allowing their best player's contracts to run down until the final year, to the point where they're held to ransom by their heroes. So stupid for not spending the last eight years building towards something, preferring to refresh every two years.
