Bayern players have a realistic chance this season for the Ballon d'Or because they have thrashed everyone, but if they lose the CL, it goes right back to Ronaldo/Messi as favourites, just how it is.

I don't quite like the way the turn of events in the Götzegate: Watzke could have played it smarter and further give the impression that he is a selfless grandpa who only wants what's best for his team and his players, and not ignite a petty war with someone who is way richer.
The sooner he shuts up, the better for Borussia's image and his. Klopp and Zorc handle things way better, I hope they sit together and discuss the PR issue they are having right now, with Watzke agreeing on shutting up at the end.

The thing is : Dortmund are in a very good position now. They can boost merchandising x-fold thanks to their recent success, they have gained a fantastic visbility overseas thanks to their successes against Man City and Real and the fact that they are playing the Champions League in Wembley, they are on their way to reduce their debt and their personal costs to turnover ratio is small, which means they won't be impacted by the financial regulations to be put in place next season.
Furthermore, they can advert themselves as the "Bayern-opponent" which is a quickway to be recognized in the eye of the neutral as one of the big teams in Europe. This recognition and goodwill can be capitalized on if Dortmund further stresses its image as an "alternative" club which has been able to build its success on its modest financial strengths and fantastic fanbase/youth development system/scouting. All of this is on the move, and Watzke is at the heart of it, as the public face of Dortmund.
He needs to play it smart if he wants to make this season a long lasting success, and that means among others to be able to attract sympathy. To go out of the Götzegate with a straight face and no whining would have helped that greatly.
