So if you want to experience the full potential of xbox 360 you will need to have gold? Alright then.

Considering his situation (he already has a PC, PS+ and lives in europe) Live is a hard sell. And imo, people don't moan enough about Multiplayer being behind a paywall, especially since it's P2P for most games anyway.
There is a large defence force for Sony on gaf (just like there is for all of the console manufacturers) but that's not what's going on in this thread.
God tier? What? You hit quick match and enter a game. It's no different on PS3 and it's just as fast. Cross-game parties are a decent addition, but not a feature that warrants paying for.
Also, "heavenly" online experiences? Lol, I can only roll my eyes, you should work in marketing.
If you desperately want to play Halo and Gears online though, then yeah. There's no choice but to pay up.
Whether it's worth it is purely personal opinion.
Not the full potential of the Xbox 360, but full access to the game you paid 60 bucks for.

I'd say having Gold is pretty much a must if you own an Xbox. So many of the features are behind a paywall that Gold is almost mandatory if you want to use the systems to it's potential.
I have it because I occasionally play online and use netflix. I wish MS didn't feel the need to put netflix and online behind a pay wall, but they obviously would find it hard to justify the cost of Live if they didn't.
I begrudgingly pay for Gold on Live.

We are gamers and Microsoft has never really been pro gamer or consumer so while we trash Sony for being stupid at times, at least Sony isn't working against in the manner that Microsoft is.

I only pay for Live so I can boost and get those multiplayer achivements for some games. Don't want my achivement completion percentage to drop just because I didn't obtain the multiplayer dlc cheevs or whatnot.

Eh... it's not really something to "recommend" per se as much as it is a cost you have no choice but to pay if you want to play 360 games online.
I've been a long term subscriber in the past but am currently a silver peasant as my Live friends don't seem to be playing the games I liked playing online (L4D, Gears) anymore these days. Honestly, even when I was using the online the most I didn't really feel like it was worth it, but then I live in Europe and from what I understand we seriously get the worse end of an already questionable deal compared to the US for Gold.
Hoping to see better incentives offered for the service next gen.
