Kotaku Rumor: Microsoft 6 months behind in game production for X720 [Pastebin = Ban]

Another glorious Tale from the Ass?

The 12GB of GDDR3 RAM just to claim more than PS4 to the average consumer makes it sound like absolute BS. Going to 12GB would require an entirely different memory controller and GDDR3 isn't even in production anymore, is it? Microsoft doesn't need to say they have more RAM, they'll just say they have 8GB and the average consumer won't know that the PS4 has an advantage there, if they even know the tech specs at all.

These pastebins are so obnoxious. Some people are posting them as jokes but several are posting them all seriously and saying they sound plausible. There's only been one legit one since the next gen rumors started and they're just getting more an more stupid.

I just find it amazing how the Xbox has enabled so many ridiculous rumors. It's like the PS3 at this point.

I don't even remember that many false rumors for the PS4.

It's only going to get crazier from here on out. God help us if Microsoft doesn't give precise specs on the 21st or at least allow developers to comment on it.

The 360 uses GDDR3 for its unified memory so I imagine its still being made. Though I think that rumor about the changes and heat issues are fake.

By the time we got around to the speculation phase, Sony announced. Microsoft waited, thus longer incubation time for stupidity.

Microsoft were taken completely by surprise by the power of PS4 and the elegance of the design. Their relationship with AMD is also under extreme duress as they feel AMD have given Sony preferential hardware development support (the truth is that Sony's own engineers supported the process)

On man that is hilarious. BS

The funnier part is since that pastebin is anonymous it can be passed on to other forums.

That can nip all that bullshit in the bud.

GDDR3 is based on DDR2, so whatever floats your goat.

But i don't think its a good idea.

Probably a typo and meant 12GB of DDR3. Still a dumb idea because that means a redesigned 384 bit memory interface, a slower, cut down 192 bit interface, or a non-optimal asymmetric memory density setup where half the bus is connected to 8GB and half the bus is connected to 4GBs.

My MS friends (not in the gaming division) told me about 12G of memory a while ago - look at my post history. No idea if it is true or not, but interesting. If it is based on Win 8 there is no chance in hell I will ever buy one.

Biggest POS OS ever. Also, MS competing with Apple and Google? Those two are so far ahead of MS right now it is laughable to think they could even compete. Now, MS is putting a huge kink in VMware, but baby steps...

What's wrong with a Windows 8 kernel based OS? All Microsoft OS consoles have been based on Windows kernels.

And what matters for a video game console if MS wants to fight Apple in the media? Will you not enjoy games because MS want to fight again Apple or Google?

All Xbox's have been based on Windows. Why wouldn't they use windows 8, its the latest one. You have to distinguish the difference between OS (driver model, memory manager, scheduler) vs OS interface.

BTW, Windows 8 is actually really great. If your on a desktop, just hold down the Windows key and press D. You are right back to the fastest version MS has ever made.

So the Durango OS is reserving more RAM then my desktop

Yeah no. Im sorry but thats bullshit.

My friends who work for MS told me to expect something along the lines of 12 GB of RAM in the next XBox - 4 of which is reserved for the OS. Basically, they said it is a memory hog and will be based on Windows 8. Expect to see interconnectivity with all of MS devices...

Seeing what an utter piece of crap W8 is, that isn't an encouraging thought.

My theory is this rumor is Microsoft just trying to play mind games.

"oh no we are 6 months behind.... wait behind? I meant ahead. We are 6 months a head of schedule and are heading into mass production finished and launching in July"

So we've evolved from posting BS pastebins to silly posts within this topic?

Seriously... 12GB? lol

I dunno who to believe at this point.

Xbox 360 SOC (True. MS will be pushing this HEAVILY as Sony dont have it. One of the key messages on May 21 will be that your entire library is coming with you to next gen. The kicker though? Durango upscales 360 games to 1080p output. Again this is one of the few areas MS can claim a lead over Sony and they will push this a lot)

Best rumor of the Pastries yet.

If True. Ton 'a' Mega inbound.

Another glorious Tale from the Ass?

I've read the 12 Gigs of RAM rumor before on GAF, and someone said "dev unit", but the fact is that the 360 dev units, had the same amount of RAM as the 360 for years, and it wasn't until 2008 that the 1GB dev unit was introduced. I've never read a rumor saying that MS is mad at AMD though. People are getting better with their pastebin bullshit now by pulling stuff that's been mentioned before and throwing their own spin.
I am confused.

this would be doable but it would also be expensive as all hell hardware wise you'd need to include the entire 360 as a SoC and that won't be cheap but it might work as a premium model.

Presumably that would also mean more heat? And therefore more cooling requirement that would also add to cost?

How is that amazing? The Xbox 360 already upscales it's current games to 1080p...

Amazing would be BC. Period. If there are games that are proven to look better than this gen (ala every OG Xbox game on the 360) then that just icing on the cake.

Again Ton 'o' Mega inbound if remotely true. Expensive or not.

But if it isn't well, they will be in the same boat as Sony when trying to explain to the masses.

You mean the rumored 500 dollar beast? Codename Kitchen Sink. You get it ALL, you just wont be able to afford many games afterwards. lol

Kotaku has taught GAF well. Lol.

Your friend, if he works for ms, said 12gb because that's what was in the dev kits. 4 for debug. Also, MS actually does view google and apple as a threat because they are after the living room.
