They're alive, WHAT THE FUCK? When I saw the original thread title I assumed it was just some serial killer thing.

I'm a life long Clevelander and I thought for sure they were both dead. Every couple months one of their names would pop up in the news as their families pleaded for any information. The local channels have been on this nonstop for almost 2 hours.

Watching the candle light visuals on the anniversaries was rough. I couldn't imagine what those families were going though.

I agree (though I think I disagree about what constitutes a deterrent). I'd rather not see this topic become a place where people feel compelled express their most gruesome revenge fantasies, though.

Would you consider it gruesome, if I told you that I support putting people like these under artificial coma till they are in their late 80s to mid 90s? Perhaps then they can empathize with their victims from whom time and choices are so cruelly stolen away?

This dude who rescued her is eight shades of hilarious.

"I knew something was wrong when a little pretty white girl ran into a black man's arms"

smh

When I was on my TrueCrime addiction there was actually a couple stories of sexual slaves held for a period of years until they either were found or escaped. Usually threats towards their family or being browbeaten so hard when they tried to escape in the beginning kept them from breaking free. Some were so brainwashed and scared they even managed to do stuff outside or hold jobs.

sorry to go OT for a sec, just wanted to say your new avatar is awesome.

The interview with the guy who rescued them is ridiculous. He barbecues with the dude and knows him real well. He also says:

'I knew something was wrong when a pretty little white girl ran into black man's arms. Dead giveaway. Either she's homeless or she got problems.'

Then the thumbs up.

Very happy they're okay.

I was just about to post that. Me and my wife are sitting here shocked on the couch and then he drops that. Inappropriate time to be laughing

Glad they were able to escape.

Stories like this fill me with grief though, because you just know there are other victims out there suffering their fate.

This is just abhorrent. Good that they finally were rescued, but a decade later.... Jesus

Charles is amazing. Holy crap. This is a serious as fuck story, but I couldn't not laugh at how that dude was telling it.

Honestly I hope this sicko is apart of some network or ring. Hopefully opening doors to catch more dirtbags.

The idea that your family member, son or daughter could be locked up for years at the hands of some perv is ...just .....well there really are no words.

This story is nightmare fuel.

So glad the girls were found, I really hope they can readjust to a normal life.

Do we know for a fact they were used as sex slaves or is that just a safe assumption at this stage?

Makes me wonder if it was my kid, would I rather some nutjob kidnap and kill her or rather her be kept as some scumbags sex toy for 10 years? Honestly don't know.

I sometimes get depressed when I see victims escaping/getting rescued at the last minute on all those procedural shows because I realize that almost never happens. Awesome to see real life mimic entertainment for a change.

I bet their families are happy. Interested in detail though.

According to the article, Amanda Berry's mother died in 2006 of heart failure. Three years -after- she went missing. I doubt Amanda even she knew until now. I'm sure her daughter being missing didn't help the Mom's health either. Unbelievably tragic.

Yeah I remember this. stockholm syndrome is wild.

Also shocking how he was found out by UC Berkeley campus police because they were "strange." You know how awkward he and the daughters have to be if the campus police thinks you specifically are kind of off? In Berkeley?

Theres an episode of Flashpoint that touches on this but holy shit, i'm very glad they are free and wish them the best at coping with such madness.

I know quite a few people who knew these girls and went to school with them. I did not expect them to ever be found, but am very happy they were.

I know that area - Clark's the sketchiest place on the West Side of Cleveland. There's also a cemetery near his house...

That is fucked :(
