Skullgirls DLC Character vote | The Campaign united us, The Voting will destroy us

Eh, I'm kinda against this. When the game has so many super freaky weapons and parasites featured I think a regular but unbreakable chair stands out in a nice way, not everyone has to have a weapon with teeth or super science.

Honestly, people should skip those 3 because they are guarantee to be in SkullGirls 2.

Yeah, it's too late for that now. I think after the DLC finishes they'll move on to the sequel, and if all 3 aren't there there's no point voting for them to "complete the story".

It's been mentioned that Beo's chair isn't a parasite, but just... a chair that's special to him, right?

I actually think it'd be cool for it to have some "abilities" (The extension for the "High flying cage act" is cool), but for it to be more mechanical rather than magical.

Watching Umbrella's wep basically turn into "A mess of eyes and teeth" and then seeing Venus do THE SAME THING right by it, easily enforced how some things need not be overdone, ha.

If anyone cares (or wants to make fun of me), this is my full ranking (they're in order of preference):

FUCK YES
Annie
Umbrella
Marie
Feng
Dahlia
Minette
Ileum
Scythana
Aeon
Hive

Whatever
Venus
Molly
Roxie
Violet
Victoria
Regina

NOPE
Beatrix
Brain Drain
Adam
Panzerfaust
Samson
Ottomo
Andy
Leduc
Yu-Wan
Talesin
Hubretch
Stanley
Issac
Beowulf

I would be happy if anyone in my top 10 takes it.
But I'm pushing for Annie.

Yeah there's no guarantee that we'll get more characters after this. Don't avoid voting for certain characters just because they'll get in later anyway, because there might not be a later. Vote for who you want in the game.

The direction Mike seems to be taking with Parasoul changes going forward is to make her Napalm Shot based zoning slightly worse and her tear game based zoning better. He's trying to give people more incentive to use her manual detonation skill along with actually making use of Tears in some legitimate way.

It's unfortunate because it's clear that the character had a more zoning / trap based gameplay in design that just turned into a pressure / overhead oriented gameplay in actuality. Her Napalm Shots in their current form give very little reason for a person to use anything regarding her tear game or manual detonation skill. Frankly, if you ask me, I think the biggest incentive you could give Parasoul players to actually use Detonation (along with changes that are already being experimented with) is to make detonation a quarter circle motion instead of a charge.

I definitely see where you're coming from though, I can't help but feel the "Parasoul effect" while looking at Dahlia concepts that involve little to nothing to do with the projectile side of her game. This is why I'm waiting for that upcoming Dahlia demo.

Ohhh well.

Could go whole-hog and do something like the current iteration of Nu in BBCP: have Parasoul be able to load two types of 'plasma' in Kreig that change what moves she has available that use it, and/or change how common moves between the two plasma types work.

For example, say she has a 'red plasma' mode that gives her more Napalm Shot options(like having a really slow-traveling one(like Kensou LP Psycho Ball-slow) or being able to charge a shot) and Tears on-screen have a brief delay before they detonate when set off by other explosions/Kreig -- exception being manual detonate - and the invul window on her Napalm Pillar is much shorter.

And say, 'orange/yellow plasma' is like vanilla Parasoul, except Tears work flatly like proximity mines and she has more recovery on the fast-moving Napalm Shot.

I seriously doubt it if it's still is in legal trouble. If it's then DLC wouldn't even possibile right?

The DLC update is only possible because the crowd funding was a resounding success and it kept the team together until it runs out of funds. They were on the verge of halting SG development before trying the IGG campaign. They are using the funds they have amassed to pay the certification costs. Nothing (AFAIK) is coming from Autumn because of their asset freeze.

There's no reason they couldn't do another funding drive once they're nearing completion of the last character from this round if the legal troubles are still persisting at that point, right?

If Autumn crashed wouldn't they do their best to flog the Skullgirls IP off to someone

It's... well okay it's not Homeworld, but someone would buy it

So what you're saying is you want Chairguys the game.

Are you pulling my leg here or was this just worded oddly? Are you referring to changing detonation to a non-charge motion?

If not this proves my point exactly, she already has manual detonation. Her charge down-up LK detonates the last tear you placed and MK detonates all tears on the field. There's just 0 reason to use it because doing so disrupts the already too potent HP Napalm Shot based zoning and the act of setting up the tears doesn't give you anything on the field to keep your opponent from getting in.
I was sleepy as hell. I know about her normal manual detonation options, but I've got almost zero reason to use them outside of the two aforementioned matchups. Her other tools do a perfectly good job of spacing out opponents or keeping them in blockstun... at least for now. LK shot doesn't even compare to the usefulness of MP and HP shots.
I like the idea of his chair growing to ridiculous sizes. That reminds me of Goku's power pole. The monster chair idea takes away from his Vanilla charm.

OK, so skimming through Skullheart a bit, I started reading more about the different characters until I got to D.Violet and realized that out of all the characters in the roster-to-be, she was the one I knew the barest minimum about outside of her character defining dominatrix design.

I honestly did not know she would literally be able to dictate things like tech directions, assist calls on a stage wide scale or whether or not another opponent could move forward or back. I mean it all makes sense given the base characterization, but damn, the character is a mix up monster. I think she definitely took a few leaps upward in my personal list, favors for friends notwithstanding. She's definitely going to be a controversial character in the roster though.

It's kind of hard to be controversial when you get eliminated by the fandom in the first round of voting each time. I'm just going to go out on a limb and say people don't like her straight up. :P

I'll admit that I only come into this thread to look at the art stuff lol.

I will support the game when it releases the DLC tho. I was broke as fuck and the Marvel salt kept me away (long story shot: I got blown up i Marvel and denounce any game that played like it... because I was wearing my yellow rainjacket).

More characters should freshen it up a lot....even if it is just 4(???) more ATM.

Wouldn't be surprised really. I just really like that even after following the developments moderately closely regarding these hopefuls for the roster, I can still come across a legitimate "whoa" when reading a character's proposed gameplay style. EVERY character has something that just makes me both theory mode like crazy internally and really bank on Lab Zero to knock it out of the park when all these guys are in and the crazy variety/variances get to interact once and for all.

Maybe enough folks will buy the game on PC to help out here- I know at least two folks who are going to buy it when it comes out though they didn't donate. I think PC may be a better platform than consoles for Skullgirls in general.

I hope The Hurting ends up being this ancient legendary weapon in the vain of Excalibur, but everyone just thinks it's a regular chair including Beowulf. He's just extra fond of it.

Violet will forever be too controversial.

The second mystery character makes for a total of five new roster additions.
Funny that this would show up on the saltiest day Skullgirls has had in a long time.

Posi-fucking-tively

How can you love the tank but not the shark is beyond me.

A tank shoots bullets the size of which would rip 10 sharks apart.
A shark does not.

(Also I main Hulk in UMVC3, and Panzerfaust seems just like the guy I want to play in Skullgirls, since he's mostly based on these big, slow and horribly strong characters. Whereas the shark is not!)

Is it bad that I automatically wanted to hear about a legend beginning in the 12th century or something similar from The Hurting after you said this?
