Someone who didnt bought a X360 because of this, missed PDZ, Crackdown, PGR, Halo 3, Reach, ODST and Halo 4, Gears of War 2, 3 and Judgment, Forza 2, 3 4 and Horizon, Fable II, Lost Odyssey, Kinect.

For sure those people had the same experience as a X360 owner. An Xbox without Halo, Gears, Forza, Kinect. They are just 10% of an Xbox.
I honestly think most of the games you listed are mediocre at best. Except for the Forza series and PDZ I've played all of those games and wouldn't feel bad if I missed most of them. The best thing about 360 to me was
Arcade.

The 360 successor has to have a wider range of exclusives for me to have interest. If all they have to offer me is more shooters and Kinect I'm not going to care. I have faith they'll branch out though.

Love the first few comments. Lol. Now it's pretty much a household name. Amazing what marketing muscle does.

Well, if "Game Boy" can become a household name, then anything can.

I still think they should have launched a home console called "Game Man". Actually, no I don't.

Behind times a lot man. I can't keep up with all this. So the only reason people are all pro MS now and expect them to trump Sony is because of scrapped online only and no used games? From the tone of this thread, I expected that plus a significant spec bump. Oh well.

XBOX 1.5!

I guess it also depends on how far in the future you look. If a game is available for a full year on a console...to me that is MORE than enough to make me buy it if I want it. I don't worry that far in the future if a game I can play now is going to suddenly be available elsewhere. Same with any games appearing on PC. I most likely am not going to wait a full year to play it. Now if they are released day and date then it might make me think about which version. But worrying is not something in my DNA when it comes to what may happen a year down the road to a game I can play now.

To be honest most gamers outside of some on forums not many gamers really give a shit about timed exclusives. They care about what they can play now, not "eventually".

Yup. When you think about them most console names recently have sounded dumb as hell but you get use to them and forget how silly they sound after a while on the market.
"Dreamcast" sounded like a fishing rod.
"Playstation" sounds like the name one of those toys Playskool would make for toddlers, that had a telephone and steering wheel on it.
"Xbox" sounds like some extreme 90's thing
"Wii" nuff said.

Yeah, it's strange that people discount the value of timed exclusives. It's the main reason people go to the cinema. It's the reason people buy or rent DVD/Blu-Rays instead of waiting for them to show up on Netflix on the TV.

I don't think they discount the value of this, they just hate the way the money is spent. Those are two different things.

As a gamer, I value timed exclusive since it means I can play my beloved game earlier than if I had bought the other platform. Like any drug addict, I love getting my drug earlier.

But as a company practice (sorry for my poor English), paying publishers to make them NOT release something on a concurrent platform, it's just "destructive money" so I can really see reasons why people hate this. As a whole, the community gains nothing when they do that, you just stopped people from playing the game right there.

Now I don't say only MS does that because when Sony gets some exclusive DLC, that's actually the same thing.

Money must be used to fund games and devs, not removing options from the consumers.

Every time you pay for "3rd party timed exclusive" that's money you won't use for creating a new great game.

Oh sure I am well aware of the disconnection. I see it every day at my work and the people there versus online:)

Microsoft doing much better this time around lol

Why do all console mockups look like modems and routers?

I like this one:

It is a little to simple though, but it reminds me of what a Xbox designed by the surface guys would look like.

We need some goddam developers tweets next week......

You need games in development first.

While not at the event...any chance at e3 we see devils third?

MS need to lock this down. They should approach Valhalla and throw them as much money as they need. Ninja Gaiden was a massive boon for MS on the OG Xbox, they should be whatever they can to replicate that image on the Durango.

Seriously, i thought they were close with Itagaki. One would think it would be a no brainer on their part to get Devil's Third.

I didn't know they originally planned to have a light on the HDD.

If that's a light, I assume it's an "ok to disconnect" light

They probably thought the mobile hard drive was going to be popular

Same with faceplates (that stupid cellphone trend died real quick)

Yeah I remember them making a big deal about being able to take a HDD round a friends house. It always seemed a bit dumb to me.

The picture right above my post shows the controller ports for wired controlers....they will be usb and both ports are under the little door on the bottom. You will have to buy wireless controllers as the unit will ship with usb controllers that have cords.

This is the real deal. I think the unit is nice looking. Better than consoles from the past.

No i just want to see the back of the unit......cant wait to get mine on launch day.

Amazing.

Haven't really been following the thread but trying to get caught up:

Have any devs hinted / tweeted about anything related to the reveal?

Has MS released any promo material for this outside of that website with the slide show?

no and no, but come join us to celebrate xbox 2.5 revealling in 10 days!!1!

I always liked the Xbox 360 design, I am positive that Microsoft will come up with very good looking console.

I expect it will be very understated. Just a black box that maybe keeps the quadrants as a call back to the 360.

No. Just the Call of Duty thing.

They are too busy scrambling because of Sonys meeting back in Feb.

the most beautiful console ever, what a beast. what sublime lines.

40gb tho, dont think any xbox ever shipped with that let alone launch.

The design was incredible for it's day. The curves, grilles and chrome made me feel like it was styled after a sports car.

That and the 360 S are probably the second and third most beautiful consoles after this:

Sega_Saturn_00.jpg

In fact...

J Saturn
Xbox 360
Xbox 360 S
J SNES
Dreamcast

would be my top five.

Thanks for the answers, both hilarious and informative. I've been monitoring my internal hype meter and it has been starting to move upward lately. I really hope MS shows some awesome stuff. I want new IP's and I want them to take chances on stuff again (Viva Pinata, Alan Wake, etc.).

Last question, is the Hype-Train gathering speed?

I hope MS and Sony at least try to make a console thats small and quiet like Nintendo at least manages to do.

If the thing is as loud as a launch 360 I'm skipping it until it slims out.

Most underrated Xbox 360 game in my opinion, they managed to combine Pokemon and Harvest Moon into one game...

there is a ..technological reason nintendo consoles do not make noise.. :)
and thats exactly what we hope microsoft wont copy

So apparently people think alan wake 2 will be there.

Also hype is high for this one.

My one worry is that with the Metro style being so ingrained now, the new dashboard will look sort of... expected. When they first showed the blades, when they moved to NXE and when they moved the current OS to the Metro style, each time it was quite a redesign.

Hopefully they can come up with something befitting a new console, not just something that "fits in" with the lineup.

Things I want @21:

-Games
-console and controller design
-New Xbox Live system
-New interfase
-incluided services
-more games

If they really are serious about being all things to everyone, they'd be wise to offer a gold sub that includes access to services like netflix, etc without an additional subscription along with a gold sub that offers free games as well as reasonable discounts on select games every month.

What they shouldn't do is copy Sony's plus completely, they should set up a voting service whereby MS choose a select number of games and the community decides which game/s they want free or discounted for that month. This could be done via the new dashboard.

We already have Metro on Xbox 360 basically.

They should make a deal with Netflix and Hulu to where you get a unlimited Netflix and Hulu account along with your Gold account.

1 year of Netflix or Hulu is $95.88, no way they can get that in a $60/yr package.
