IMO the original Xbox was rather ugly, 360 was an improvement and 360S was their best effort yet. Hoping the Nextbox is another step forward in looks.

Almost all consoles are ugly. I wish they'd just look like hifi components, not toys.

The PS2 was probably the only console that came the closest to resembling a piece of hifi equipment.

If the new Xbox is designed by the surface team, the new Xbox will probably reach that goal.

The gamecube's design annoyed the heck out of me. I always felt like it was begging me to pick it up by handles on the top and swing it around.

The 360 slim is beautiful by my estimation.

I did a bit of research, and it looks the same structure as the Build event, but a bit smaller. The Build one has 10 x 17 support legs, while the Xbox event has 8 x 10. So it looks like 2/3 of the Build tent.

Since a Microsoft agent complain that Sony didn't show a console, but if they show a possible case then I wanted to know if changing the case after the reveal should not consider the same as not showing the real one?

The Surface might have a lot of issues and detractors who have no problem vocalizing those issues and shortcomings, but aesthetically...pretty much everyone agrees that the Surface is a beautiful machine, and brilliantly designed. You're just projecting your own distaste on to others by claiming that no one finds it good-looking.

It's not a persecution complex, it's just that you're raising an extremely unlikely hypothetical situation that there is no indication of at all.

It's a very strange question, but in my opinion, the answer is no. If you showed the design you had and then show a new one, no-one's going to be upset as long as the new one's good.

These consoles are so long in the making. They are testing all kinds of stuff and are not jumping the gun of any of this stuff. All I'm saying is what you're proposing would be unprecedented and dumb.

For example based on the VGleaks PS4 leaks there will have been ~28 months between a devkit that had a variant of the final GPU and launch with the GPU that had that kind of power.

The next Xbox will probably also launch this holiday, which means ~5 months before launch they will show some hardware design that they have extensively tested. (This event.)
And then suddenly they realize that they fucked up and they have to redo it? No. That will not happen.

But yes, in your absurd hypothetical scenario you are right that it would be the same. The objection is that it's an absurd hypothetical scenario and doesn't really merit discussion. Edit: It would be even worse than not showing the final design, but as it's not going to happen - so who cares.

It might have started already. It clearly depends on how many they expect to sell it's first Q. If 5+ million, then they should have started by now.

I agree it will be slick. However, love it or hate it the Kinect reveal with cirque du soleil was pretty epic. Clearly they're going in a different direction with this event. No biggie. Just an interesting observation.
