Considering giving into the hype and rocking the poncho for a week...

Thread just went awesome.

What makes it a possible scenario? It's the third console by a major company. Do you think decisions such as what design they go with are made lightly? Its a valid question and possible scenario.

Someone should Xboxify my avatar as well. I'm bad with photo editing.
That is freaking brilliant. I love it.
Almost all consoles are ugly. I wish they'd just look like hifi components, not toys.
I think the time for brushed aluminum, elegant game boxes is upon us. Fingers crossed.

If the new Xbox is designed by the surface team, the new Xbox will probably reach that goal.

IMO the original Xbox was rather ugly, 360 was an improvement and 360S was their best effort yet. Hoping that trend continues with the Nextbox.

The only good looking console was the Gamecube, especially orange. Most others are just plain ugly, but does anyone really care about it?

That looks huge.

You think the surface is good looking? Really? You have to be the first person I have ever heard say that...

I am not a specialist on hardware design, but I guess cases for hardware can change even near the release. Since a Microsoft agent complain that Sony didn't show a console, but if they show a possible case then I wanted to know if changing the case after the reveal should not consider the same as not showing the real one?
I guess its true the persecution complex. Its a question and its not hurting anyone.

It's not a persecution complex, it's just that you're raising an extremely unlikely hypothetical situation that there is no indication of at all.
It's a very strange question, but in my opinion, the answer is no. If you showed the design you had and then show a new one, no-one's going to be upset as long as the new one's good.
These consoles are so long in the making. They are testing all kinds of stuff and are not jumping the gun of any of this stuff. All I'm saying is what you're proposing would be unprecedented and dumb.I am not a specialist on hardware design, but I guess cases for hardware can change even near the release. It would be awesome if MS showed a box. Then Sony showed the PS4 then MS made theirs look identical to the PS4 hahahaha.
Hows that ya fuckers! Ok it would probably only be cool to me. But god damn I would laugh like a crazy man.
So if the case is final, when would we expect manufacturing to start? How long of a process is it?
Corporate trolling one of my favorite forms of trolling.
Ok for some reason this is just cracking me up and work mates keep looking at me funny. I don't know why but this kind of thing ha. Balmer's tongue wagging out at them.It would be the biggest freaking troll if MS disguised just a million units of nextboxes as PS4s.
Just imagine, all the excited boys and girls flocking to stores to buy the PS4, then getting home, hooking it up, and the xbox logo comes up with Steve Balmer staring at them and breathing heavily in the corner of the screen.

I'll be honest - I'm surprised MS isn't using a larger space. It seems like a huge tonal shift for them (and the industry).
the size of the room is irrelevant when your audience is actually watching on their tv or pc at home.
this will be slicker than a greased crack whore when they broadcast.

Love it! Thank you!
