I hope the servers can handle the load as a preview of E3 conference traffic. I mean, there's gonna be way more people watching on the 21st, on both sides of the console divide, than there were for the Sony reveal. I'm betting, anyway, just because of all the rumors and speculation in a three-month build-up to see how it actually stacks up to PS4 for the name, the games, the different features, and, of course, the tech performance comparisons. Gonna be epic bad, great, or everything in between, looking back at the X360 reveal show.

Do I:

a) Stay up till 3am playing games, watch the reveal, take part in GAF festivities until around 5am? Remember, I have an 18 month old who potentially could make it hard to sleep.

b) Go to bed earlier than normal the night before, get up at 2.50am and just stay up brute force?

A.

NO! C) Stay up playing games brute force, sleep the day before, join the GAF festival for 24 hours!

I'm a big whiny baby who needs RevealGAF to make my decision for me.

I've organized a day off for the 22nd of May Australian time. Its on at 3am on the 22nd.

A, you might oversleep.

Starts at 6pm here, feels good.

That was masterful trolling.

I think A is the saner choice.

Therefore, I choose B. I want you as tilted and crazy as possible.

Let's not forget the reveal of Call of Duty: Ghost will also interest a few.

Right. The sequel to the biggest franchise in gaming being revealed, and don't forget EA has some sort of a presence to show off next-gen while Respawn debuts their game. The show's gonna stomp a mudhole in Sony's February show, just for games. Not that difficult considering how lame that show was for software lineup, but we're looking at sequels and franchise installments with this one, too.

I don't think Respawn will be at the show on the 21st, I think they'll be at E3.

Ugh Hexic HD had lazy fonts.

I somewhat doubt there will be a new pack in game, unless it's sponsored by Doritos.

I'm at work but can't check, but don't most consoles come with at least one game for free?

Really? I could have sworn that I read that they would at least reveal it at MS' show.

The only thing Respawn has officially said was that they will be at E3. I don't think they've mentioned the MS event. Not to say they won't be there, but if they are going to be there, they aren't talking about it publically.

They've already said they're showing the game at E3. They may have a teaser but I doubt there will be gameplay. There's also a whole lot of bad blood between Respawn and IW. Probably don't want to give them both stage time at the same show.

Definitely, don't think they'd have a spot on the 21st, especially not to confound with Activision which is probably the main event when it comes to 3rd party shooters. At E3 we can expect those two and BF4 where it's a bit more free game because it's just one long showcase of just games.

I didn't think of that, but it's a good point... I'm sure having IW on stage to show the next Call of Duty, followed by the creators of Call of Duty who left IW and then sued Activision would just send a weird message (ultimately it doesn't matter to us gamers, but there is likely a bit of office politics happening). I'm sure they both want to be in the spotlight, so Activision will probably get prominent placement on the 21st, and maybe Respawn will have a lot more focus at E3.

This is what I'm thinking. They're not going to want to piss off two of their biggest supporters.

3am?

My wife is hot enough for me. Most of the time :p

More on topic. I think this will be viewed as much if not more than the Sony reveal despite being at such a shitty time for so many.

Microsoft has generated so much hype through doing and saying nothing.

Its astonishing.

I'm in the same situation. I've got to work unfortunately. I'm thinking I'll be sleeping through it, waking up early, immediately checking GAF, and watching what I can before work. And if need be, partaking in a great Aussie sick day is possible

Pretty sure you guys are seriously overplaying issues between the two parties. It's been settled in court already and everyone moves on to do what they're doing. It's not a like a divorce or custody issue. Business, gentlemen. Business.

I'm just saying that if they're both big supporters and they don't get along, it's best to feature them prominently at two different events so they can both get a huge spotlight without the other, similar game stealing some it.

I can't believe no one still has the gif of the Xboat red-ringing and sinking Titantic-style. That was one of the funniest moments of the PS3 euro-launch.

U guys created your own hype lol.

I'm not hyped at all. I'll get hyped if Microsoft doesn't drop the ball.

I'm very excited for the 21rst. Can't wait to see how right or wrong my friend was on the info he gave me a while back. It should be interesting. I'm nervous more will be wrong than right.

Some hype videos like Sony would be cool though in advance. Don't know if they contributed much to the overall hype, but they were watched like crazy on YouTube.

The GAF hype definitely was stronger for the PS4. Probably because it was the first glimpse of next gen. Mainstream wise I don't know much people that knew about PS4 or next Xbox in advance.

You'd be surprised.

Besides, MS needs to save some thunder for E3.
Yeah, they could keep them apart, but I cannot imagine not being a major presence at E3 no matter what. It's the last big slot for starting the hype for their end of year releases.

I'm just saying that if they're both big supporters and they don't get along, it's best to feature them prominently at two different events so they can both get a huge spotlight without the other, similar game stealing some it.

Though I expect them both to be next-gen versions of CoD-like slick 'n fast shooter gameplay, I don't think they'll be directly comparable. Respawn's game will probably be more like BF2142 on steroids than BF3 while Ghosts will be another incremental spin on CoD. Anyway, I would imagine they would handle them the way Epic and id or EA and 2K are handled, which is to say, by bookending them from the start to the end the show or doing the same for particular segments during with a showing or staff appearance and announcement or gameplay demo. I can't imagine it being anything too serious when they need to let everyone know they're coming this year on next-gen.

Nothing is certain

Unless you know...stuff?

Reiko doesn't know anything. He's just excited.

Respawn's game is 2014.

I'm just here, not forcing myself to get hyped. I'll just see what they have and know E3 is where to expect more. Could go either way for both shows, we'll see.
