Xbox controller has a screen dude right?

ya, you guys had a big discussion for a bit about some of the stuff. from that controller, to Rare and their water game, to BC and 2 scaler chips. But that controller. That's what I'm wondering about. Heard it was supposed to have force feedback on the analog sticks, and the triggers.

I'm not sure though now. He was right about 2013 coming out. I also saw a bit back that someone post that Durango was supposed to come out in 2012. That's what I was told to until he said postponed till 2013. But I was told because Kinect was selling so well and yadda yadda yadda.

We shall see. I'm excited. Going in to work late that day just to watch! :)

edit.. .also whatever the hell the code "20... 5T,8T - 4G, 6G ...13" is. Figured 2013... I once guessed that maybe TG was Total Games.. and he said I might be on to something. But you know... could be all smoke up my booty.

What you most likely will be seeing is exactly what you saw from vgleaks.com, possibly with increased clock speeds.

I must have missed the vgleaks stories that showed games and had third parties announcing their plans. You know, the things people are actually hyped for.

The number of sites looking to post any shred of a rumour relating to the next xbox for clicks, says you're wrong.

All because MS has said nothing.

The Xbox Tent is a front-page story at IGN. Tents full of hype!

I'm a big whiny baby who needs RevealGAF to make my decision for me.

I've organized a day off for the 22nd of May Australian time. Its on at 3am on the 22nd.

Do I:

a) Stay up till 3am playing games, watch the reveal, take part in GAF festivities until around 5am? Remember, I have an 18 month old who potentially could make it hard to sleep.

b) Go to bed earlier than normal the night before, get up at 2.50am and just stay up brute force?

Specs are not my main priority, games and improvements to the gaming side of Xbox Live are. I would be slightly surprised if MS let Sony have a gap, especially with multiplatform games they did so well with on 360

I'm just here, not forcing myself to get hyped. I'll just see what they have and know E3 is where to expect more. Could go either way for both shows, we'll see.

With Sony you basically know what you're going to get. That's not a bad thing because they've proven themselves to be a very good gaming company, but perhaps a little boring.

On the other hand, I think Durango has the potential to be incredible or a real shit show. Right now I think MS is willing to take more risks with that 720 and that's a big reason why I'm more hyped about MS's show than Sony's. I want to see something that's freaky and pushes gaming forward.

This is such a BS cop-out, but I honestly just want to see new IP , but with that said, even if some of them like Conker were brought back, the ideas and formula would be so untapped that it would feel like a new IP again anyway, most likely.

They definitely have the money to take more risks. I doubt they want to spend it on "core" gamers though, if it really means something.

I hope you're right and I'm wrong anyway, we really need to push gaming forward.

I'm so bored with endless franchises (on every console) and lack of real new ideas.

Glad to know VGLeaks is now Microsoft. Has anyone told Balmer?

Vgleaks, edge, kotaku have all confirmed these specs. Not to forget bkilian who actually worked in the Xbox up until last November.

I get it though, u have hope, but its all about the games though right? Doesnt seem like you guys would care if it is not as powerful.

People will disagree, but I honestly think that the reason we got so many sequels was due to the console cycle's length. I hope that Gears: Judgement and God of War: Ascension acts like a kind of slap on the hands to each company in terms of making too many sequels. Both of those series would have been fine (and in better positions for sequels on the new consoles) if those two games were never made.

Now, are they bad games? I haven't played them all the way through, but I've played the demo/beta of each and while they were quite fun, they just felt... unnecessary, or worse: irrelevant. I hope that MSony realize that stuff sometimes less is more, and that relying on your franchises isn't the only way to make buku-bucks.

Well, because of the Kinect push in recent years... It's not I hate these games, it's just I prefer sitting and playing deeper games (same thing with PS Move or Wii by the way).

But maybe you're right, everybody here seems so confident they won't focus on it too much. Your optimism is catching me lol.

Once again, I have nothing against Kinect IF we also get great games. I just want deep gameplay.

I think there was an obvious stopgap in the flow of information that has occurred.

More importantly, VGleaks has yet to write an article on the alleged updated specs from the Beta Dev kits.

I don't see Conker ever happening again. Conker isn't Conker without Seavor.

Actually anything Rare is kinda up in the air at the moment, but I'd kill to see Crackdown come back.

No need for murder. More than enough has been said to know that Ruffian's working on it now.

Cannot fucking wait to see what those guys can do with more development time.

I also expect MS to take a dual-pronged approach, making sure there are at least 2 regular games (with possible Kinect integration) compared to 1 that needs to have someone standing/moving their whole body around.

I think we see Minority report and less Dance Central (more hand control stuff, less full body). Kinect will be a big proponent in how UI's can be handled and navigated, especially with Microsoft learning from all their human-navigation UI mistakes from the first Kinect. Take that for what you will. Just a thought.

EDIT: Didn't VGLeaks source a pastebin or something ridiculous semi-recently? Might not have been that exactly, but I know they were mocked by a lot of people because the quality of the rumor was so poor.

There are people who seem to believe that MS was building multiple versions of Durango to compete with the Orbis.

They didn't confirm shit, they're not in the position too.

I agree. New ideas sell more on the long run, they get new people interested in gaming.

Sequels sell more on the short term, but they usually bore us and make us ultimately leave the platform. I think they should see it that way.

Truth be known, I'm not that fussed with the games either. Both new consoles will get great games.

Its the OS that I want to see.

the PS4 OS looks like big improvement over the PS3, but still a little meh so far. Little too "Facebook" like.

I do care about if it's less powerful, because that's an important thing to know when you're speculating about how devs will see it and use it and whatever. But I am definitely in this for features, games, OS and a gaming device that will have games made specifically for it for years to come.

If I didn't care about any of those things, I'd just get a gaming PC.

MS will spend big time money on core gamers for the first 4-5 years. After that they'll have a few franchises established they'll start pumping out core sequels, and try expand the userbase. That was their plan when they launched the 360 and I'm sure that's their plan with Durango.

Really nothing has leaked yet? Damn, Microsoft has that shit on lockdown. I hope its for a good reason. I'm talking some real damn surprises, like big big games.

Yes. They did. The backpedaling was also hilarious.

I am totally fine with new IPs starting up as long as they don't cut off my yearly Assassin's Creed addiction too soon.

I don't really agree with your views on sequels, but I do agree that new ideas are always good and welcome.

I like sequels. I like knowing what I get out of a product sometimes. It's why I bought the first 5 Halos, you know? But there comes a point where somthing gets stale, or you want something new. Cliffy B always mentioned something called "gamer diet," which I always loved. It's basically talking about playing all these different things so you feel good. I don't think that's completely true; most casual players are fine with just CoD/Madden and there's nothing wrong with that, but as a guy who has a real passion for the whole scope of gaming, I like having a more balanced "diet," and a bunch of yearly sequels can throw a monkey-wrench in that sometimes.

I'm fine with seeing a new game every few years, but when it gets to be a yearly thing, or it feels like super-diminished returns, then I'm not so excited. Still, there's nothing wrong with enjoying sequels a lot. There's a reason franchises are so successful.

Yes. They did. The backpedaling was also hilarious.

No offense to the people down there, but I've never really trusted them as a reliable source. When you survive on rumor-mongering alone, the temptation of picking up anything, no matter how ridiculous, is too high.

I am totally fine with new IPs starting up as long as they don't cut off my yearly Assassin's Creed addiction too soon.

Totally, and that's perfectly great. Nothing wrong with enjoying both really.

what were the specs they gave for durango again?

1.2tflop gpu at 800mhz. 8 jaguar cores at 1.6ghz. 8gigs of ddr3 and 32mb if esram.

There is also dedicated hardware that we know little about. There is a dedicated audio chip that helps with efficiency and supposedly is pretty damn powerful. There is also the move engines which I don't have any idea what they do other then move data.

Two scenarios I personally see playing out. The more likely one, these specs are pretty much what is coming to the market. Maybe clock speeds increase.

Long shot one, split the jaguar cores and pair a 1.2flop gpu with each 4 jaguar cores giving you a 2.4tflop console.

Let me get this straight we can't even get a leak 8 days before the reveal but three or more sources already know all the specs for the new Xbox? Right....

you keep telling yourself that.

Ya I will, you can't dispute what I said, everything is rumour until MS actually confirm. I've seen enough 'strong' internet rumours turn out to be completely false. And I really don't care if they turn out to be true regardless, clearly don't have an agenda unlike yourself.

It was the one about being 6 months behind and overheating? Thought somebody from here posted it on there twitter and then they posted it on their site.

How much more powerful is that compared to the Wii U?
