Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | May 2013 | Lovecraftian Wasteland

It doesn't matter. Once you've installed it, there's no going back. I don't have the voice pack installed myself, but that's what people have been saying.

Confirmed. This is a pretty shitty experience.

Edit: Top of Page recommendations

Buy:
Soul Sacrifice
Persona 4 Golden
New Little King Story

Thank you! I just sent it to him by text. :)
My uncle's the one who got me into gaming. Now I'm the one influencing him. He's bought a PS3 and a Vita within the last year. :D

Edit- Nathan, did you actually get to sit on HBO's throne????

yup, my girlfriend is a producer. In fact I leave for Belfast in less than two weeks and I'm staying for the next 6 months. Part of the reason I got this Vita was because I was considering bringing a console and couldn't decide which one but with this and the PS3 paired it's the best bang for your buck.

:D THAT IS SO DOPE! :DDD I'll send you Vita games by mail & PSN codes if you get me some autographs and shit. LOL :P

It's funny, Thule Tree was challenging, but I enjoyed it. But when I faced enemies with three different barriers at once, I said to hell with this and put the game down. Guess I enjoy platforming more than fighting.

I'm the same way, I loved the platforming in this game but I'm currently stuck on that stupid Tiger thing. :(

I had more trouble with the tiger dude than I did the final boss. Really random patterns, and his telegraphing is very subtle. I just kept doing it over and over, got lucky in jumping over his fire attacks one time, and finally beat him with a sliver of health left. The ram horns are your most useful attack.

I beat the Tiger after many, many, attempts. But in the next secretion you run into some skeleton dudes who have multiple barriers of different colors, right? That's where I turned it off.

The key to the combat in Guacamelee is that even if the enemies don't take damage due to their shields, they will always be stunned if you time your attacks right. A lot of times, with enemies with multiple shield types, I would get them all in a combo, and if I got all the special attacks in, then all the shields would be broken, no matter what. The hardest enemies in normal are the ones that don't stun easy or can escape stun (like Jaguar).

The best advice for Jaguar is to wait until he does his jump attack before attempting to counter. Everything but his fire moves can be dodged though. It is all about patience and dodging.

Anyway, my question is this, does New Little King's Story compare well to the Wii one? All the screenshots I saw made it look like the vita version killed off the simple charm of the first one to attract a difference audience.

Can't say much about the Wii version as I never played it. But the Vita version is great until about four hours in. But then the game starts to chug as it chokes on the lack of processing power needed to animate all your soldiers and townspeople at a decent frame rate.

Uh, I remember that. Just beaten Jaguar on Hard and felt so strong, than in the next room those yellow skelletons fu**ed me up... :D
But I never got to a point where i was frustrated. It took me 24hours overall to platinum Guacamelee.

RIP Potential Skyrim Engine

Was unreal engine supported and documented for vita?

MK makes me think otherwise.

I think vita overwhelmed many developers regarding the cost of development and recovery.

Huh? UE3 supports Vita:

- Mortal Kombat
- Dr. Who & The Eternity Clock
- Smart As
- Jacob Jones & The Mystery of Bigfoot

All run on UE3 for the platform. The engine isn't fully optimized because Epic's not made a game for it.

oh god when is ffx and x-2 hd coming out i need it bad

MK is 60fps, and that was problematic for Unreal Engine on every platform ... ;)

And anyway, MK is a great game on Vita. Played it right to the bastard end-boss.

Congrats, you won't regret your purchase, but let me tell you 2 things:
1)it's easily possible to find a new vita for cheap
2)The year of ps+ will make you save LOTS of money

Ps+ is amazing. Loved Gravity Rush so much and platinumed it. Now enjoying VLR (gonna platinum it too). Thomas Was Alone was nice, didnt care for Sine Mora as much ( cant decide the game is hard or i suck at it)

I would really like sine mora but the time mechanic sucks imo(at least in the arcade mode where it's essential), in the story i'm blocked at the point where you have to stay in the garbage but for some reason i die every single time :(

I've just realised that the only Vita game I've finished is Thomas Was Alone. I can't moan about lack of new releases when I have a backlog of unfinished games.

One thing I was thinking about, though. Wouldn't it be great if EA and larger publishers put their mobile games on PS Mobile? I'm thinking Dead Space iOS and the Mass Effect iOS game in particular. I would love to play those but hate the touch-screen controls.

The very very very bad thing about psm is that imposes heavy limits on the hardware usage(for example you can use only 96mb of ram!!!!!!!!!! WTF sony!?!?), for this reason it's impossible to see certain types of games, on the other hand there are many other games that could work easily...

Yeah, that bit was tough. You need to stay right in the middle of the rubbish and keep an eye out for the red lasers, IIRC. It can be done, stick with it.

I gave up on the game at that exact point, and I've got absolutely no desire to ever go back to it and try again. :(

You can! Although you'd almost certainly have to follow a walkthrough to the day to manage it due to the stat gates I'd guess.
I know, I wasn't being literal. But you'd have to bust your balls so much that it would be really unenjoyable for a first time player.

That's a really weird restriction! Why would they limit developers?

Seeing takao finishing life of a pixel a said : "wtf i'll finish it too!"(for those who don't know i think that loap is a very very bad game)
So i played it and:
1)later levels are less broken and for this reason very very easier
2)WTF! this is a simple 2d platformer that even got a patch, not a recently released 3d open world rpg! How it is possible that with directional buttons you climb the ladders normally while with analogue the inputs are inverted?!?!?!? I always thought that inverted commands in ladders were a stupid but desired thing! It's not! Developers didn't do even a little of playtesting!
3)Not all donuts come out with hole i guess, in this bunch of extremely bad designed levels there's a good one(imo it was designed by a different person or it was a mistake) where a gem indicates where the platform is(in the whole rest of the game is exactly the opposite)

Yeah i'll keep trying, the game is amazing, even if i really don't like the arcade mode.

Ended up wising up and getting PS+.

Do I need to have played any of the previous Uncharted games before Golden Abyss? Not sure I'll get to it since it's pretty low on the list...but since I have access to it, might as well ask!

It's actually a prequel and isn't really tied into the other games at all. It also plays very differently. Uncharted (certainly 2 and 3) are all about massive set pieces. By virtue of this being a handheld game, it's rather small.

Seriously, though, play the other Uncharted games anyway!

So I recently got MH3 U

I know it is not a Vita game, but playing it (after not touching my 3DS for a while) makes me realize how god damn big and beautiful the Vita screen is (I dont have a 3DS XL).

Also, the twin sticks on the vita are amazing. If I end up liking MH3 U, should I look into some of the MH games on PSN?

In short, playing my 3DS makes me appreciate these features on the Vita all the more

Surprisingly there were times in Soul Sacrifice when I wished I could use claw controls. The inability to move the camera when using a charge-up attack was frustrating.

Hello fellow GAFfers! Today I finished Nun Attack Decent game, you get what you paid for and considering the price I was happy with it. Consider check it out.

I'm very happy with my Vita. I hope I can get some GT soon even if we get GT6 for the PS3 too, I'm also curious about that teased game that we will "spend much time in it" but I guess we need to wait until E3.

But I didn't want to use it at any other time! Unless there's a Left/Right d-pad enabling option that leaves the right analog alone, in which case, I wish I did!

Hmmm! U are right U can only set one. Maybe suggesting this to Sony! Perhaps a patch can be implemented for enabling both.

Cool, thanks for the info. UC is just one of the many, many series I haven't even looked into, so I don't know much about it other than "third person adventure/shooter starring Nolan North".

(...Yes, it's quite cozy under this rock thank you ✿⌣‿⌣)
