Curious to see how the controller may have changed. It's an essential reason why I enjoyed gaming on 360 more than PS3's hidious controller this gen (although dat new new controller looks fucking amazing..)

7 DAYS !

I hope the tent is at least big enough to fit a webcam into it so that the millions of people clamoring for it can watch it online. Would be awful if we had to wait a few weeks for the print media to publish pics and info.

And oh yeah:

777 more days? Ack!

I just don't like when people are posting wrong information about how those rumored specs would not make a difference in what you see on your screen.

Why? Surely if that's the case then people will see for themselves when both consoles release. So no need to get upset about it.

Want to say within a year or two after release. It was the regular pack-in controller in Japan.

Ya it does. Then again unless you are taking it on a date that doesn't matter much.

post more pictures of the set up you heartless bastards.
From space. MS knows that size is the all important factor so they decided to move the announcement to the largest Dam in the world in China.

It was very comfortable. Maybe because I had big hands but it's been one of the only controllers where I didn't get achy hands after long hours of play.

When I first opened the Xbox and saw The Duke, my first thought was - "Yeah, Microsoft isn't long for this business. Absolutely clueless design."

Shortly after that I bought an S controller and was amazed that they went from one of the worst controllers I've ever used to making the absolute best. And now it's evolved into the 360 controller, which is still unmatched. Hopefully they don't take a step backwards with the next one.

Just over 11,550 posts left in this thread (and I've just wasted another one posting this). That's around 1650 a day between now and next Wednesday. We need to pace ourselves, people!

I wish it was run just a bit more like Beyond3d, and other tech forums where threads were separated for spec VS discussions and actual single system discussions/news. It would keep the flak far lower and suit the use of the actual thread far more.

Got some of your facts wrong there. Technically speaking the PS3 had a better CPU, GPU and more memory bandwidth (in terms of both system and video) than the 360. The only real advantage the 360 had over the PS3 was more system memory and the 'special sauce' ;) of the eDRAM.

Regardless, I don't think anyone beyond those in this forum will give much attention to specs. Ask any average PS3 or 360 owner how many 'flops' their console has and you'll likely be met with a blank stare. The real battle will come down to what is offered - in regards to both services and games - and the accompanied marketing.

I feel that the Xbox is at a crossroads with the Live service and if they continue to charge for multiplayer then it could mean a slower start. PS+ is a much better value (as it currently stands) and I could see it playing into the adoption rate this next gen.

at launch the 360 gpu was properly next gen. The ps3 was more cpu centric with a slightly weaker gpu that the cell helped out.

in the end they were much the same most of the time.

but of a shame if ms really are going for the weaker gpu this time.

I have big hands, too. Duke sucked because the face buttons are super close and the shell of the buttons is very hard and oval shaped; pressing them can cause your thumbs to sore. And that dpad is the worst one ever created. The black and white buttons are also in shit places and were a bad idea to begin with. Bumpers all the way.

Xbox S controller just felt amazing. I was used to the PS2 and GC controllers at that point, but when I got an Xbox and I used that controller for KOTOR, it just felt right.

The 360's controller is even better, because they refined it and made intelligent moves like removing white/black for bumpers. I really don't know what they can do for the next controller, besides the d-pad and maybe making the bumpers a bit wider.

I'd be down for that but I don't think there should be a spec thread until we actually know the specs for sure. Not saying the rumors couldn't be true, just saying that I couldn't give less of a shit about a spec discussion thread when one could be completely wrong about what's in the thing.

Pretty much the ONLY comfortable controller I have used. I base all others on the comfort level I got from the OG Duke.

I really, really want to try the Duke, just to see how it feels. I think I used it once, but I can't remember for the life of me what it felt like.

So you like to cherry-pick rumors? I knew it. Xbox fans keep on spinning.
I had some cherries today. Not the season for them. Nope...

I just had cherry yogurt. Xbox doomed?

I have large hands as well and the Duke feels good from what I remember. I hope they don't make the new controller smaller or lighter. I said it before but I want an even heavier controller from what we have now.

Imrpove dpad.
Improve bumpers (give it actual feel/click).
Slightly harden the triggers feel.
Convex sticks (yep!).
Keep button layout.

I want the ABXY buttons to have sensitivity levels.

I like the other stuff, but hell no to convex sticks.

I want the ABXY buttons to have sensitivity levels.

Sony is ditching that with the PS4, so I'm not expecting MS to pick it up.

Convex sticks?! Don't make me come over there! I will yell loudly at you from a safe distance!

Convex sticks? Yuck.

I only buy the yogurt that comes with a little tin of M&Ms on top of it.

That's a neat idea, but how would it feel? Like the top of a ballpen, before the click? Hmm...

Wouldn't it just be what the PS3 has right now? Devs never use them. Would be a waste of time.
