Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | May 2013 | Lovecraftian Wasteland

I do not approve of your new avatar. I miss the Leona already. :P
Which one?

I'm itching to go back myself. Mr. Jonas lost his luster the moment I heard him open his mouth to "sing" :-(

Sort of.

If you get to the point where your goal is to head back to camp and you have most of the puzzles solved, no. You'll always trigger the cutscene for the end of the episode. As long as you don't finish the final puzzles, you can go all over. It just gets hard to find them cause sometimes there's something in the way that wasn't there before. ;)

I remember there's a soda can under the car when you were asked to remove the log :/ I missed that one

^^The red one is better imo.

On another note, tried real Remote Play for the first time on GoW HD I got from that PSN Store Glitch. Overall picture is OK and it actually controls pretty well, over a private network there's minimal lag but there are moments of "buffering" where the game seems to freeze and stutter.

new big announcement guys

its called Unearthed: trail of Ibn Battuta

its supposedly a third person action adventure game made by a middle eastern dev. I cant link to it atm, but I saw the news on Games Cabin, and N4G.

sounds like an uncharted clone.

He posts sometimes on Gamasutra, seems like a decent enough guy.

While it's a somewhat obvious clone, on the flip side, it's nice to see games from different cultures putting their imprint on gaming. I'd rather see something like that than a western Uncharted clone (like the Tomb Raider reboot)

I thought this thread was for Vita discussion, not avatar polling. ;)

(The black and white one is better, IMO).

I think I can consider myself 100% on Soul Sacrifice now.

I don't even want to say how much time I've accumulated with this game, especially if you combine the time from the demo and the full game. O_o

Twitter is abuzz today with journalists writing about the closed-door events for the purposes of judging "Best of E3" titles. Maybe that's what Andrew is referring to, in which case it's not just idle speculation.

Why am I allowing myself to get excited?

HYPEEE

Yep, a lot of press was shown stuff this week and some of that had to have been Vita related. Must. Contain. Hype.

So I beat Persona 4 golden. I'll have my hands tied with Gravity Rush. Should I go Uncharted or Soul Sacrafice next? Money isn't an issue (Uncharted is free on Plus).

I'm getting the Muramasa remake and Dragon's Crown in June/August.

Jak was announced, Sly collection was leaked by a ratings board. Nothing on Ratchet yet.

And the Jak collection is a step down from the PS3 remaster, right? But how far of a step down? I was never a fan of the series back PS2, but I may try it on Vita. Now if they announced Ratchet and/or Sly collections for Vita, day one.

It just looks a bit on the blurry side. Might look better native.

I don't think it's a step down. It's not a native res game on Vita, but it wasn't even a 720p game on the PS3 either.

The vita version has a gnarly frame rate from the trailer we saw. So much so that SCEA didn't even upload it, probably due to embarrassment.

IMO, go Uncharted next. You can start and finish it in a normal timeframe. Soul Sacrifice is a long, awesome game.

People of Asia today get the following for free on PS+

Virtua Tennis 4
orgarhythm
Zombie Tycoon 2
Hysteria Project (mini)

I have too many Vita games.

Just played my first few hours of Guacamelee. It's really good. I knew the buzz was good, but the combat screenshots didn't look too engaging and I feared the difficulty.
So far the fights are a lot more fun than in picture, the metroidvania structure is solid, and it's chock-full of craziness. I'm in love with the goat.
For the time being, a truly great game.

Then 5:15 hours until the non-Patapon announcement breaks my heart. If the 'optic' part relates to eyes/vision, I mean..Patapons were essentially eyeballs with legs.

I think it's related to DriveClub.

DriveClub logo:

drive-club-ps4-300x183.jpg

Logo that was in the Panopticon trademark filing:

SCEE-Europe-Red-Gray-Symbol-280x320.jpg

Furthermore, Panopticon was trademarked by SCEE. Why would it have anything to do with Patapon, which is a SCEJ thing?

Countdown's almost up for Panopticon. 6am EST.

Doing some page inspection with Chrome, I see PSVita (not PS3 or PSP or PS4) mentioned in the code.

Hmm even though I'm an intensely focused Vitabro, I never looked into this because I assumed it had nothing to do with Vita. Interesting. Obviously not going to get my hopes up whatsoever, but I'll be curious as to what it's about when I get up.

Edit: Oh yeah, looking at that above post, I now remember I assumed it had to do with driveclub and that's why I wasn't paying attention to it (not that Driveclub doesn't look awesome, because it does, but rather this wouldn't be something likely to bring about new info for it). I hope it ends up being Vita related, and that detective work by you in Chrome does bring hope, but who knows.

I dont mind the concept personally, I think the idea of a middle eastern uncharted clone could be pretty interesting. My only genuine issue from what I could see in the trailer though is the animations, they just look.....not so good :/

If it turns out to be good I would still pick it up though depending on price, and whatever else releases around it.

Yeah if it was DriveClub on Vita, then THAT would be nice, and I wouldn't be so sad about no GT anymore, lol. VERY unlikely, though. I don't know why. It just is, haha.

It would be alittle strange for DrivebClub Vita to be announced in Japan considering the main game is under SCEE. It could be a Drive Club App style thing though like the psp rearview mirror gimmick.

Yeah, I don't think that's it. Would be awesome, of course, but just doesn't seem realistic to expect. As you said, no reason to have SCEJ announce an SCEE game.

.

I'm pretty tired of people
nagging
about GT6 not getting on Vita. Sony made a smart decision. I don't see them making the same mistake as last year's E3 seeing as how everyone and their mother(me included) expressed disdain at them for talking about Wonderbook and not Vita.

The way I see it;

Vita WILL have some great games shown at E3 even if the PS4 is getting the main spotlight. Have some faith. If Vita is getting a GT it makes no sense to show the game at the GT event. Sony is trying to replicate what GT5 did, make them a lot of money. By having an event for a single game they are able to get the news out to everyone. If Sony has a GT:Vita they will most likely show it at E3. Why? To show that it has great games coming to it. Had they shown it already people would have complained at E3 that the game had already been shown and there's nothing else in the pipeline. Plus, lets not forget that Poliphony takes a good 5 years to make anything happen, chances are they were well underway with GT6 before they were pestered with the idea of making a game for the Vita.

Again, have some faith. The negativity here is starting to reek again.

Great and well informed post as usual sol. GT was never coming to the vita... and it's for the same reason it's not coming (or atleast debuting) on the PS4. Install base. The GT games would likely be system sellers (we really don't know since they never come out early in a gen) but they take a long ass time to develop and they cost a lot of money. The PS4 is going to sell PS4s. It doesn't need GT6 yet. It may in a year, but not this fall. And we also know that Polyphony likes to do two GTs per gen. They actually started development of this before even finishing 5 (five was delayed for many reasons including licensing so they were able to move part of the team over to start work on the next one).

Anyway, back to the vita, it's just doesn't make sense from a cost perspective to release it early in the vita's lifecycle. It makes more sense when there's more vitas out there so more people buy the game... justifying the time and cost it takes to make it. There's also the matter that Polyphony is given complete freedom to do what they want. They decide what system, they can delay as long as they feel is necessary... they really are like their own entitty. I would assume that's because every GT game so far has printed money.

Also if there was a vita GT coming I wouldn't have been able to stop myself from talking about it. ;)

Anyway, E3 is shaping up nicely from what i understand. There will be some major third party stuff (even in addition to whatever shahid is teasing which I honestly don't know what that is....). They will also, of course, be showing off indies and ps4 connectivity. And, on that front, I was told just this week that remote play is "flawless" with a dev kit. Dev kits, of course, are far more powerful than the systems themselves, but I don't know that remote play really needs "power" to work so I'm starting to get cautiously optimistic about that. And a price drop is expected. So I think when their conference ends people will be excited about the vita. It's not going to be 3ds levels of "we have 3d mario and mario kart" but it's going to make people feel good about the system. Which is exactly the opposite of last year's e3.

Nice info. Thanks. Have you heard anything about first party stuff on Vita?

I didn't know being positive was allowed in a neogaf Vita thread.

Stop playing games with my heart.... :(

It makes perfect sense especially since the Vita is selling like shit. You want the big hitters to come early to expand and increase Vita sales. Or how else would the fan base expands if the big will be waiting for the install base to grow? It makes zero sense. You want the big hitters early to sell the damn thing, and Sony is so damn dumb for not releasing GT Vita at launch or close to launch, even if it´s a cutoff port of GT5. That would have helped to sell more Vita a lot especially in Europe, and gave a kick in sales in Japan for a couple of weeks. The wait for the Vita owners to increase a lot for big titles to come out is a very stupid notion and damages the Vita since big titles help sell it and also it helps the Vita get all kind of games, big hitters, small hitters etc... come to the Vita.
