Yeah and Nomura actually apologized for that a few weeks ago. They definitely did have plans to show it earlier but a lot of things happening in and outside of the company has forced it back and now E3 is a given.

They are talking about Durango reveal on the 21st where they will announce FFXV, DQXI, KH3, Chrono 3, Mana sequel, Ogre reboot, SO5, and some other stuff exclusively for it.

That rumor seems like bollocks to begin with. It only makes sense for Sony to bail them out and try and make FF relevant again if they can then buy a majority share in SE. Otherwise that money would be better spent somewhere else. But then again, Sony will Sony.

People always get disappointed because they expect Kingdom Hearts 3, Chrono Break, Parasite Eve 4, Final Fantasy XV, and Dragon Quest XI announced all at the same time.

i think you underestimate how pushed into different niche's the FF fanbase has become. single-platform, dual-platform, current gen, next gen, whimsy, science-fiction, action-adventure, traditional JRPG, old school, new school, realism, fantasy. i don't see how they could please their fanbase at all anymore with how infrequent their release schedule is nowadays.
