Hey, I like your avatar! I want all those logos on mine too, with a Windows logo as well because I'm nothing if not ridiculous.

I always forget how complex the current style of controller seemed to me back when I was first introduced to it. The average joe who doesn't play games must be terrified by all those buttons.

Don't worry. Most of GAF hates Xbox so they'll probably be logged out during the event.

How do you think Co op will change next gen on the Durango? MS and Epic really brought it to the consoles so I'm wondering how they innovate again.

I want horde/firefight modes to evolve. And by evolve I don't mean SpartanOps. Dear god, no more Spartan OPs. I dont play competitively in those games, but I do love the co-op multiplayer. Gears 3's horde mode so far is the absolute best I've played.

I'm thinking theyre going to do another take on it. As to what it could be I've no idea lol. Skype may play a part, if they can utilise that in the gameplay.

Crap....someone invite both. I have only two names between like 5 DD (like Origin, Gamefly, etc.) accounts on different services. I leave them signed in....lol...I forget which is which.

If you're talking about this often posted image, it really doesn't mean much since none of those GPUs were using 4Gb density chips. You can best believe Sony is paying boutique prices for them compared to the more readily available 1Gb/2Gb density chips (1Gb chips are much cheaper than 2Gb).

Which is why when you look at say the 6870's price for memory it's $21.57. Keep in mind the 6870 is using 1Gb density chips (PCB can be seen here)

Compare that to the 6970's PCB keeps the same 8 sockets, but switches to 2Gb density and the price more than doubles. And at the time 2Gb were kind of boutique, 8 chips cost them 51 dollars, 16 would have cost them 102. Sony is going to pay a premium up front and the prices will come down as Nvidia and AMD and the various manufacturers start switching over to 4Gb density chips from 2Gb density.

I'm 99.999 percent sure Skype is how we'll all be communicating using anything on the next Xbox. Voice, video, in-game etc

I really liked Spartan Ops. It got way better in season 2, and the perfected version of that could be good. BUT I want it to be separate from horde mode.

I would love LOVE something like 1 VS 100. In fact it was one of my main wants above new AAA games and blah blah blah. I would love that.
 
Man, I want a new Halo Wars. I was thinking about having a 360 delaunch game night. A couple GAF game nights replaying some of my favorite multiplayer games from this gen. Halo Wars, Halo 3, PGR, Banjo, Forza, Shadowrun, Gears 1, etc. Ones that defined the console for me before it goes away.

I suppose you don't realize that there are $350-$450 Laptops with Jaguar 28nm APUs in the pipeline. Those Laptops are sold at a good profit. It wouldn't surprise me if the component costs of the PS4/Durango are under $400...possibly closer to $300.

Those APUs don't have GPUs that come anywhere near what's in nextbox and PS4.

Even the Wii U is being sold at a loss at $300, you're being delusional if you think nextbox and PS4 will have BOMs under $300.

Phil Harrison is in charge of those type of projects. I cant wait to see what he does. Buzz and Singstar were all his creations.

But I can get 2 8GB sticks from Newegg for under $40.

To be fair Wii U is being sold at a loss including the R&D that was poured into the controller.

Also Sony's expecting profits in the PS division to remain flat and given that they will still be selling a lot of those super high-margin PS3s I think it's fair to say Sony will take a bit of a loss on PS4 as well. I'd expect MS to do the same.

Considering the components used in the Wii U gamepad there is nothing to indicate this.

It contains no processing elements (just a terminal), the screen isn't expensive and gyroscopes, accelerometers and little things like that cost pennies.

People speculated about that, but Nintendo we're pretty specific with their statement.

They are selling each Wii U at a per unit loss.
