No, they (and many others) did however report that the early devkits were using Nvidia GPUs. Which isn't shocking when pretty much all the next gen footage we've seen has been running/built on 680GTXs.

Considering the components used in the Wii U gamepad there is nothing to indicate this.

It contains no processing elements (just a terminal), the screen isn't expensive and gyroscopes, accelerometers and little things like that cost pennies.

Holy Christ...you could have said...yes or no Anyway there is most definantly a point when companies Make a Decision. However, MS does and always will have at minimum two competing designs at least. Their jumping off point appears to fluctuate between releases. Pretty much business as usual. But I am not sure who you are writing all this too? I don't think there is a change. That was previous speculation, until Chipworks came out and said that they believe that the Wii U's MCM costs about ~$100.

Though I'm sure whatever small loss Nintendo are taking on the Wii U would no longer be incurred if they decided to go with a more traditional controller.

The Wii U gamepad isn't the main driver of the Wii U's BOM.

The lack of information doesn't prove that something isn't done, thus the crux of most discussions revolving around company internal workings.
So it just seemed a waste is all but then again its a forum so personal opinions of what we think happened are always fun. I am always game to read someone else's idea of what may have occured behind the scenes.

With the PS event I watched the GameTrailers pre-show live, then watched the Giantbomb stream until it ended, went back and watched the GameTrailers post-show (thank god for DVR controls on their live stream), and then watched the verge post-show.
