Towards the bottom of every game page they list the system requirements, just pay attention to the GPU and CPU requirements to be sure. Windows emulators (Parallels / CrossOver / Fusion / whatever) also work fairly decently with the older games they sell from what I read, but obviously not everything, bootcamp is a better solution though it's not as convenient. The really older games that use DOSBox they're making run natively on OS X as well, since DOSBox supports OS X it's not very much work.

Edit: If you're not aware, you can just go to their catalog, and select the first "filter by" box to Mac OS X to narrow down the list.

Thanks. Looking at the Mac filtered list, that's a good haul for native compatibility. I'm willing to give Bootcamp and other such tools a try.

Does GOG ever add Mac functionality later on, like Stream is doing?

I don't know much about the past history, but I would not expect the rate to stay as high as it has been recently with:

Its flagged on my card too for some reason.
You can just pay through your Paypal account and still use your card. That's how I get around it.

You'll have to fiddle around with key rebinds and the menus are... unmodern but I'd say 4+5. If you have to have non-tile movement (and a better menu system) then 7. 6 is fine too so if you've yet to buy I'd get the 6-pack.
 
How's the PC port of BG&E if I plan on playing with a gamepad? I'm not worried about widescreen that much, but if the graphics can be improved to look good, that'd be great.

Erm, don't.

No tate mode, no slowdown emulation, tearing, lots of shadow flicker... RFA is infinitely superior. Still, for $8 I'm enjoying Legacy for what it is - Raiden while I'm away from my Xbox.

Anyone know of Far Cry 2 has any problems? I thought I had it on GOG already but I don't. I probably have it on amazon but I want a DRM Free copy.

Even though it's not the answer you're looking for, I recommend The Settlers 7: Paths to a Kingdom.

If you want one of the classic ones, I suggest you get the 10th anniversary edition of Settlers II for all the modern additions.
 
For Might & Magic, yeah, 1-6 or 7 are probably best.

Unless you use a keyboard-to-gamepad mapper, the game has no gamepad support. And even with such a mapper, it's impossible to have proportional movement controls in the PC version, since all you'd be doing is mapping the keyboard movement keys to buttons.

There are some bugs in the PC version, too. Yeah, avoid it unless you have no choice.

I really enjoyed M&M3 as my first M&M game. 4&5 really build on what you get with 3, and they're all excellent games, but 3 is a fair bit easier so I'd say it's a little more user friendly. Either way you can't go wrong with the 6 pack, but 6 is a totally different set up from the prior 5 games (scrapped tile based movement).

Not sure I ever played the original version of 2, but the 10th anniversary remake of it is a lot of fun, so I recommend that. I was a huge fan of the original on the Amiga and feel the series lost an essential component when 3 ditched road building.
 
Wow, Grimrock borrowed a LOT of things from Anvil of Dawn. It seems a bit too simplistic to hold my attention for long but I'm having some fun with it.
 
Are there any known issues with any of the Prince of Persia games (including the 2008 game)? I think I'll get those tomorrow.


They just released a updated installer 5 days ago for Sands of Time that fixed graphical issues with Nvidia cards, if anyone cares.
 
I only played a bit of PoP: Sands of Time way back when it came out. Can't remember much of it but I still have fond memories of PoP and PoP II from way back.

That said, how is PoP 2008? I see mixed reviews regarding changes in gameplay, but that graphic style just grabs me.

I never played Splinter Cell, either. The Settlers games seem interesting, too. Crap, this would be awesome as one of those stacking discount promos.

PoP 2008 is fun, but people complained that it was "too easy" because there is no death penalty.

There's also the fact that it ends
with a cliffhanger
, which can be an issue.
 
Yeah, the downloadable epilogue for Prince Of Persia was never available on PC so it was a "console exclusive" I read in the GOG forums that they tried to get it included in their version but Ubisoft would not provide it.
 
This is the first time the Imperialism games have been on sale since being released at the start of this year, going to pick both of those up. Probably will end up going with The Settlers 2: 10th Anniversary too, as well as POD Gold. My guilty purchase might be Might and Magic 9, which I always wanted to try, despite almost everyone hating it.

If I didn't already own them, I would also be buying these too:

I wish the PoP games were a bit cheaper. I already own them on Steam and $5 each is too much, even for preferred GOG versions.

Wizardry 8 would be quite the catch, if that is what that image is implying.

I don't think the Gobliiins games hold up too great myself, I was never really able to get in to them when they released (I think I beat the demo though). They're not bad for the time, and stay within character, but unless you're looking to play a really rough trial and error type puzzle game, I don't think I'd recommend it. Maybe someone else who understood them more would be a better reference.

Wizardry 8?! That would be monstrously huge.
I'd have to google around for a ini that tweaked encounters though. The level-scaling and enemy parties get pretty ridiculous after a little while. Just gobs of foes stacked on top of each other at every corner.

Curious what this means for the rest of the series.
 
That's awesome, hopefully that means they get the rest of the series as well. I'd love to replay the whole dark savant trilogy again (6-8).

I agree. It's been a while since I played Wizardry 8, but besides it being a great game, I think I remember most the ridiculously difficult and tedious (one battle on top of the next) chore the turn based combat turns in to after a while. I definitely wouldn't replay it without such a fix, and am glad there is one.
