show the video or shut up.
I will not give a shred of credibility until the video is shown
Never heard of the guy but every picture of him makes it look like he is just about to go into full cardiac arrest
Is he a competent mayor? Have people that work with him even noticed? If not, I don't see what the outrage is about. Then again, I don't know anything about this mayor. I guess a lot of people already hated him.
At work so not sure but was the gif of Ford trying to eat a matza ball while a rabbi keeps stopping him been posted yet? Funnier than the football fall.
Been posted.

Yeah, ok.
Again, the star has seen the video and will likely be headline news tomorrow.
Just out of curiosity, what would you consider to be a good newspaper? Considering the star is the only one I ever see that actually digs for the truth?
I'm sure the journalists covering this really care about convincing you specifically.
That's our mayor!

I don't know anything about this guy but posts like this crack me up. As if you'd look any better if you had cameras falling around you all day.
This. That's actually pretty fair - and even if this particular guy seems to have a talent for just... looking ridiculous a lot of the time, I'm sure if I had cameras on me as much, I'd probably have quite a few... unflattering shots.
That being said, this dude is a colossal ass and a testament to how much people are swayed by catchy slogans. So... nobody really feels bad for him when they make fun of his horrible pictures.
This.
If the guy wasn't such a rude, sexist, homophobic, racist, with a history of drunk driving, flipping off random people, and groping women, then we all wouldn't be so eager to post these gifs or even believe this story. I have zero sympathy for him whatsoever
Remember the time he was caught reading stuff while driving a car? GOOD TIMES.
But his office comes in under budget. I mean, on one hand he's committing a felony on the job, but on the other hand he's saving the taxpayers a couple thousand bucks a year. I guess it's a wash.
He's really not.
this is too goodThat's our mayor!

You must be a fancy pants liberal who just can't wait to waste the tax money of honest tax paying Torontonians on things like a PERSONAL DRIVER!

Well this seems essentially accurate
Thanks Taiwan
They but they have seen they video. They never would have gone with the story of they were just told about the video.Keep in mind, the sources that Gawker/The Star used for these stories claim to be crack dealers. Seems legit...

Again, it's a cell phone video. There is no way you could confirm exactly what he was smoking.

They're also hitting F5 on their keyboard cause they don't have the money to pay for the video either!Toronto Police are closely monitoring this situation

People keep asking how he ended up mayor.
Our last mayor was David Miller , a former New Democrat Party (NDP) politician. The NDP are far to the left in terms of politcs. By US standards they would be considered almost communist.
Anyways to make a long story short David Miller enacted alot of policies that benefited the downtown core while upsetting suburbanites that tend to be more conservative.
A small example ... a 3 lane road (Jarvis) in Toronto that was a major north south artery through the city was cut down to 2 lanes to make room for bike lanes. Great for the city, bad for anyone commuting in by car.
That's just a small thing, but in the end the election of Ford showed a very steep divide between the political leanings of downtown citizens versus the suburbs. People are underestimating how much alot of folks hate "the "left" in the 905 area (code). I'm not even sure it was about politics so much as a feeling of wanting a mayor that would enact policies that consider the suburbs.
Alot of the progress made under David Miller benefited the downtown core directly, while suburbans felt (right or wrongly) their tax dollars were footing the bill. Ford campaigned on cutting taxes for the middle class in the suburbs and cutting down the huge spending of the former administration. The "gravy train"
Unfortunately Ford's vision of the gravy train included things like public libraries, arts programs, etc .... The council HATES the mayor with a passion as does the Toronto Star (the star is basically our leftist newspaper) as his politics are directly against everything they hold dear.
One thing is clear though, Ford won the majority of the vote. So while he has vocal opponents, he does have a clear mandate.

As a 905er who doesn't get to vote in TO politics (and no, the divide is North York, Scarborough , Etobicoke, the suburbs of 416), I would have still been in favour of all the downtown improvements, because anyone who commutes to and from the downtown realizes that the policies he's choosing is that it's a short sighted, me-first solution. We keep on hearing about Toronto being one of the most gridlocked cities in North America, so you've got two choices: more roads, or nudge commuters away to transit. Every time I hear someone friends and others who are in those suburbs who say they see the war on car issue, I often wonder: how often do they even travel downtown to even make that judgement call.A small example ... a 3 lane road (Jarvis) in Toronto that was a major north south artery through the city was cut down to 2 lanes to make room for bike lanes. So your hypothesis right now is that the video exists, it shows what they say it shows, but the key point is that it's probably not crack in the pipe even if Ford appears out of it in the video and the pipe is the kind used for smoking freebased stuff rather than tobacco? Okay, let's go with that.
I think calling a prominent politician a "faggot" while on video smoking tobacco out of a pipe at a drug den is a character offence that is grounds for immediate resignation of an office like this. I think any attempt to misrepresent the facts now that the story has broken--literally anything disclosed about this whenever Ford makes a statement, if later shown to be inaccurate (and note, he's already called the whole thing "ridiculous", which means if the tape exists but the only fact wrong is what's inside the pipe, he's already broken this standard)--is separately grounds for immediate resignation of an office like this. If you don't, well, I don't think we have any common grounds for discussion.

905 has nothing to do with Rob Ford. I know people get the 905 and the 416 suburbs confused, but mistaking us for voting for Rob Ford is disgusting. Rob Ford is a pure" only in Toronto", or more like "only on Scarborough" case.People keep asking how he ended up mayor.
