The more I hear from MS, the more I think they really have a solid concept/big picture behind everything. Sony's reveal was good but also felt slightly rushed. (I guess I'm biased :lol)

To be honest, I have some friends that are impartial to "console wars" and even only own a PS3 and they were all disappointed with the "lack of vision" from Sony. I won't give my opinion on the matter cuz I'm biased towards MS.

People seem to forget MS had the best conferences

At least in xbox 1 era

Microsoft is really a joy to watch when they are swinging punches

Mind you that was also a time where sony would come in and show you lots of spreadsheets for 10-15 minutes

We're really going to tell one story across two events. So we're going to start on the 21st and really that's about revealing the next Xbox platform, really our vision for the future of games, the future of entertainment. We definitely have a lot of surprises planned. I know everyone knows the Infinity Ward team is hard at work on world premiering the next Call of Duty Ghosts so we're going to see what that looks like for the first time. People are going to get a great inside look at really the making of the new platform and the team that's brought it to life. I mean to be honest it's really about the team, the people here, that's why we're inviting people to campus, we're going to bring them behind the scenes a little bit, we've never done this before and so it's really exiting to be able to do that. But I think it's a lot of laying the foundation, probably the best way to describe it, and then just a couple of weeks later we go to E3. E3 is all about the games.

Let's hope they clear everything up then. Live fees, always-on rumors, specs, what systems will be available, will there be a subsidized model, kinect, new controller, and of course the system itself.

I don't expect many games other than the new Call of Duty. What we''ll likely see is a video of game developers talking about the new system and their commitment.

This really is a good approach. Previous E3 events seem to have bad pacing filled with mixed signals. This way they can focus on the hardware and get all that out there first. Get us talking about the possibilities, understand the direction Microsoft wants to take with it and feel confident in the capabilities. Then at E3 it can be all about the games. A barrage of games in development, games that will be available at launch and of course exclusives.

Lack of vision? They forget the clearly push and support for gamers and how gamers are there main aim? There vision with Gaikai and its possibilities ( all games have demo's basically) was also pretty awesome.

They may need to re-watch it then.

Anyway, Alan wake 2 and I will defiantly be getting the Nextbox, anything on top is just icing on the cake!

Do you think next Xbox will have some Sega love? I love some Sega IPs and I want a real next gen Sonic game...

There has not been a good solid sonic game since...ummmm

I'm kind of burned out on Sonic, but I'm willing to give it another shot. I'm not sure if that deal SEGA announced today with Nintendo is all of their upcoming Sonic projects, or if they have a few games on the side for next-gen platforms too.

Another guess from me about the course of the show:
1. Welcoming of the guests
2. Short video montage of the Xbox history transitioning into a behind the scenes about the new platform without actually showing it
3. Back to the stage where Don shows off the Nextbox and it's name
4. Shortly talking specs
5. Features overview (kinect, entertainment, OS, always on/used games policy)
6. Explaining OS features (standby, off TV play, smartglass)
7. Explaining and demonstrating new Kinect on OS level
8. Transition to Kinect on games, showcasing Ryse
9. COD
10. Forza/PGR
11. EA sports title
12. Megaton to finish the reveal (short teaser trailer.... Fallout 4 or Alan Wake 2 --> get hype for E3)

We may even see some unknown feature (that Fortaleza Glasses stuff)

Pretty much exactly what I'm expecting.

Sounds about right. A packed hour.

I'm sure MS was the first to say "fuck you" to the god-boring spreadsheets presentations and then everyone else follow.

Actually, it was the year they showed Natal. I can remember John Schappert saying "Today is all about the showing, not telling. So we are not talking about numbers or attach rates."

It's a new generation and you need to show a fresh vision for the future of the platform. What's new about "all about gamers"? They already do that with the PS3 and that's why they have earned the respect from the hardcore community.
We will see about Gaikai. If it works, it's probably going to be great for the USA community, I guess, but if you're taking that as a vision, then you're getting the picture wrong. A share button instead of a start one is not a vision, pal.

I want games and interesting uses of the console. If they don't see the vision you do then that's not my problem.

That would be satisfying.

with something like this..would be a total meltdown

Yeah I get what your friend means tbh. Pandering to gamers and vying for their love spouting 'we're all games!' isn't a vision ... but then Sony haven't been visionary or revolutionary for a long time, so I just expect the same from them next gen. No that that's a bad thing, they cater to gamers very well.

For me personally?

id be more than happy with almost the sole focus being on the console.

As long as E3 fucks our eyeballs with game reveals. Would have loved an Alan Wake 2 teaser on the 21st though.

agreed but listening to podcast when MN says "we will show some leg at tent show and the big guns for E3", it tells me they will show a bit more than COD but most of the BIG game surprises will be held for E3 when even more of the world will be watching

That's the thing. In no way I'm trying to say they're going to do bad because of that or hope for failure for them. If they cater well to gamers, then is mission accomplished. However, there's people that want something more than better hardware and a different OS. MS did show a vision for the 360 at E3 in 2005 (I believe) J. Allard showing Live functionality was a great step for many of us that never had an OGXbox and didn't knew about Live. For better or worse, they have been showing their vision for entertainment during the last E3s and it's easy to get an idea of what's coming. Consoles have evolved from blowing your cartridge to make them work to a whole multimedia component. We all want great games, but we also want a step-up that's not only in hardware.

Yeah, I'm not expecting MS showing many games tuesday. I'm expecting a focus on the hardware and os.
