EA Sports Engineer: Wii U is crap, < powerful than 360. No $ 3party. [Tweets Deleted]

Doesn't Nintendo ordinarily make more money? Is it not more highly valued? Does it not have higher valued assets and cash reserves?

The times when Nintendo shares cost more than Toyota are long gone. EA objectives are very clear and they are already cutting costs and focussing in less games and social games. Much better than hoping to magically sell 3x the software you sold last year. (not even talking about the incoming Wii U price drop that will bleed more money)

more money or more profit?

more profit.

Even if the Wii U does worse than the GC they will not need to go 3rd party, they are an extremely careful company who keep significant cash stocks to allow them to take risks without needing external funding.
Wii U is guaranteed success in Japan.

And the way Nintendo works as business, even if Wii U is third place in the west, it will still be profitable for them. Gamecube was profitable for Nintendo - even though people were telling them to quit the console business because they were losing.

This thread would be a lot different if he had said something bad about Sony or Microsoft. All you folks defending him or agreeing with him would be bitching just as much as Tilmen did.

I purchased the Wii U on day 1 .. I was so excited. Bad move on my part, barely any exclusives, so I have more incentive to play third party games on my 360 since that's where I earn my achievements and have friends to talk to.

Because that could change, this could burn bridges and if Nintendo and EA finally stop this stupid war than Nintendo fans might feel hurt by EA's comments from before and not support if they start supporting again.

Cmon man what world do you live in.
EA pisses in the mouths of their fans EACH and every single day in various ways and they still exist.

People have shortterm memory when it comes to being fucked or insulted, all it takes is a new marketing campaign to wipe the slate clean.

Hope he doesn't get fired for speaking his mind. Sure he could have found a better way to say exactly what he was meaning, but it doesn't mean his point is invalid.

talesfrommyass.gif?

I don't really think I need to quote sources for information that's available to see even on Wikipedia. I'd be wasting too much time otherwise in every technical discussion.
One look at the specs section for all three consoles and you can check if I was right or not regarding bandwidth and CPU speed.

Watching something die I don't care about is a pretty relaxed experience, calling for a nice glass of wine. What's not to get?

That's hate and nothing else.

And even a "relaxed experience" is bad enough and it says alot about you. EA is not destroying the world or something, so having a relaxed experience if hundreds of people lose their job is pretty low.

I don't know who I should be identifying as the victims here. Do I have even an inkling of compassion for the delirious Nintendo fans who give Nintendo hobbyists such as myself a bad name, or the unprofessional man children given license through social media to express their unbridled hatred and animosity towards an inanimate corporate entity? No. If anyone deserves an apology, it's the level-headed gamer who, by no fault of his own, finds himself caught in the cross-hairs of warring factions impelled by sheer ignorance and inanity. Why can't I simply enjoy video games as a mode of entertainment without becoming entangled in the politics of the industry or the errant fanaticism that pervades the internet?

Maybe the notion of several competing consoles has overstayed its welcome. For some, the box sitting under the entertainment center has become more than a mechanical assemblage of transistors, shiny plastics, and silicon - it has become emblematic of a profound personal and emotional commitment. In the case of most self-professed hardcore gamers, it is quite literally an extension of the self. Making a derogatory comment about one's console of choice is now tantamount to throwing a punch, or insulting one's kin. I realize this console ingroup vs outgroup mentality has been raging for quite some time now. Many of us fondly recall the tame-by-comparison console wars of the early and mid 90's. With the advent of social media and the growing popularity of forums, however, fanboyism has reached its critical mass.

Not to vindicate the EA senior software engineer, but I have to wonder why the implications behind his words hurt people with presumably NO affiliation whatsoever to Nintendo co Ltd. Part of me sees these individuals as hopelessly ensnared in a social experiment gone horribly wrong, and in dire need of clinical intervention.

This is insane.

Why is it insane? Please share to us why a developer speaking his mind is insane?
He's either scared of sharing his thoughts, or he isn't.
There's no mental health issues related.

I'll never understand the immaturity with which people address issues in this industry. It's bizarre.

Ever since Nintendo was successful with the Wii, it seems like the rage has been slowly building among certain devs/journalists and I can't understand it. Why do they feel slighted? Nintendo has done a LOT of things wrong (especially with the Wii U) but does it really provoke this type of response? Just bizarre.

The poster you quoted was saying that someone saying Nintendo was committing "tyranny" was insane. It had nothing to do with the developer comments.

This whole ordeal makes the industry look bad in every way. Developers act like children on twitter, journalists run with the stories and sensationalize them, and everyone in general just acts like a bunch of babies.

Pretty much. If I had a gaming related company I would ban everyone from from all social media if it said who they were employed by, people are acting like morons.

You seriously think the current state of this insdustry is Nintendo's fault?
Obviously it is. Nintendo went from making inventive games to casual crap dedicated to soccer moms and children. By contrast EA has been a long supporter of adult hardcore audience of true gamers. Just look at Dead Space 3 and Crysis 3, Nintendo wishes Wii U had games as creative as those two.

ooh fuck internet started to argue with an engineer.
Not sure who will be the more stubborn one.

But he is the second EA engineer that said the WiiU isn't up to snuff or worth optimizing for when they have to work on launch games for the PS4 and next Xbox.

It is Future Year 12. Mankind is in a struggle for existence. The EAmpire roams the former United States in Skullmechs, looking for bones to crush and feed upon. The Imperial Tyranny of Nintendo rules the eastern continent, conducting magickal experiments with the cybervoid.

This is the world of Console Wars. Pick up your dice and character sheet and enter into the legends... if you dare.

How long can EA keep churning out COD and FIFA and relying on huge success with the casuals?

Is their business model sustainable?

I suspect that Call of Duty Ghosts and FIFA 15 may sell less than their predecessors. Perhaps a downward spiral from here on out for EA.

Agreed. As personal as Nintendo fans seem to take it, those hating on it seem to have some ragged personal vendetta brewing in them. It's as if everyone was given a puppy by Nintendo or they had their puppy run over by Nintendo.

I'm gonna be a Yoshi Hunter!

We only know the bandwidth of Wii U's slowest memory pool. Also, the peak performance of Wii U is a complete unknown to us, even those who participate extensively in the technical threads. You're just quoting conjecture from other people.

:lol

Come on.

Nintendo actually did the industry a favor by bringing in a ton of casual gamers that weren't there before, and Microsoft continued capitalizing on that with Kinect.

joke post?

Yes, Nintendo ruined the industry by introducing motion controls, bringing in a whole new type of gamer, and increasing the overall reach of console gaming. Those same people bought the Move and Kinect. Those gimmicks allowed Ubisoft with Just Dance, and Activision with Skylanders and Guitar Hero, and EA with Rock Band, to make way more money on a cheaper to make game, then any of it's AAA properties will ever make.
