Fuck 720p man. There is such a huge difference in Image Quality when you go from 720p vs. 1080p. That is a lot of pixels to push, but man does it look so much better.

I agree. I know they say it's hard to tell the difference, but 1080p has always been noticeable to me. It's way better IQ. I actually notice 1080p more than framerate (FPS is very important but just saying my eyes sometimes can't really tell as long as it's solid), which I know puts me in the minority.

It really just depends how much you want to stretch the word 'megaton'.

It's no stretch. LoL is currently the most played game in the world. It has a rock solid revenue model and the entrence cost is nil.

I have zero clue how a MOBA would work on a console, but if they could make it work and it was Durango exclusive it would be megaton, whether SonyGAF wants to call it that or not.

Pretty much.

think we'll see a fallout 4 teaser trailer thinger?

I wish, I really, really wish. That would be a megaton for me. I'm a WRPG nut, so if Bethesda were to make an exclusive RPG for a console, I'd have to go with it no matter what.

I think it's definitely possible though. It's one of the few 3rd party exclusives I guess a while back.

Aside from new games, I'm excited about what MS will bring to the table with Xbox Live and its inevitable expansion.

One of the things I've been thinking about for a couple years that I could see happening is MS making Xbox Live Gold as it is today free and then creating an Xbox Live Platinum service. This could ensure everyone who owns an Xbox 720 can play multiplayer games online with the feature set aside from online gaming being the incentive to have a Platinum subscription.

I don't think they'll give current Gold free. I do however believe that we might see a tier or tiers above Gold. I really could see them expanding.

It's the way I see it at least. Not a personal megaton as I have zero interest in the franchise outside of wondering why it's so popular in the first place.
It's popular for some reason. They must be banking on it becoming popular on a console with those who have not played it, or heard of it.

I've never heard of it.

Yeah it is very noticeable. I think people that say they cant tell the difference are full of shit. I upgraded my PC to a 1440p monitor and my fiance' at first was I cant tell, then I switched the PC to 1080p and then to 1440p and she was like "wow that is so much cleaner and sharp looking). Did the same going from 720p to 1080p and yeah, the difference is huge between 720p & 1080p.

That's the problem, no one knows if MOBA games would actually work on consoles.
Until we do, it's not really megaton proportions.

You can play it for free now, anybody with a PC can, they don't need to drop 300/500 on a new machine to do so, or even pay for the game. I also laugh at the thought of playing LoL with a controller.

While I personally would never do it, RTS games like Red alert 3 played fine on the controller.

(MP would have to be really dumbed down.)

I remember reading the exact same thing about minecraft. I was dumb enough to believe it at the time.

Guardians of Middle Earth is fun. Don't Laugh at people enjoying controllers instead of keyboards.

So you're saying it would be huge commercially, but not a personal megaton for you?

By the way, I didn't think minecraft on the 360 was a megaton, but I was wrong. Very wrong.

It's not even close to a personal megaton but I think we're going to overestimate the importance of a game that has a huge focus on precise control using the keyboard and mouse that is able to be played on almost every PC in the world.

It's big because it's cheap to get into and layers as you get more skilled at it. You're not going to get the same precision or control as the PC and therefore the chances of it becoming the most played game in the world on consoles is slim to none. If it had a huge fee to get into in terms of specifications and it was cheaper to purchase a console to play it then I'd get more on the side of megaton. The way I see it now is that it'd be a nice F2P game that casuals would check out and possibly even become addicted to but in the end it's the most popular game in the world on the PC and has no benefits by coming to the console.

It'll be a financial success and they'll be able to show off vast numbers of downloads and tries because it's free to play. Stretching the word 'megaton' to apply to this like it's going to shift any consoles goes a bit over my head.

It's a bit different for a 46" TV or smaller at a typical viewing distance. 1080p to 720p, yes for most. 1080p to ~900p and it starts to get difficult, as long as there's decent AA.

Sammy you boob.

Surprised that people have been dismissing the LoL rumour as anything but a megaton. MS can't have Japan so they're going to push into Korea and China. Would be a wise move.
Well Tencent have pretty go relationship with MS(like WP8's hub carrier by tencent and sina in china)

So i'm not even surprise if Tencent help MS to officially release 720 in China

The difference is when superior versions of those same games exist at the same price, and just because you don't care Zombi U looks far below the common Ps3 game doesn't mean others won't. Some of us like our faces melted when a new generation comes around.

Yeah I got over that after the 32-bit era.

You can play Minecraft on a PC too, and you don't have to buy a 360 to do it at all.

Dismissing a console exclusive of the most played PC game based on the fact that you cant imagine how it would work reeks of fanboyism and ignorance.

I'm not sure it's gonna happen, and, reiterating, I'm not sure how it's going to work but at least I'm rational about how much of an impact it would have on platform dominance.

People used to say the same thing about competitive FPS on consoles. Then Halo happened.

That said, you might be right. LoL might end up being clunky on a console. On the other hand LoL could be massive.

This won't do much for Korea at all. Hell China either unless MS can convince the pro circuit to jump ship from PC to console. And the pro circuit in those two countries for LoL is an entity within itself.
lets see the full plans before writing them off. alot of people now won't play a PC game if it doesn't have 360 controller support.

The wars are going to be incredible if the new Xbox is revealed to have a better GPU or CPU than the PS4. One side screaming MEMORY and the other one screaming POWER. Neogaf will be a crazy place for the foreseeable future starting this Tuesday.

Minecraft is a single player game with a cheap entry point released late in a console's life cycle.

League of Legends is a competitive multi-player game often said to be the pinnacle of e-Sports due to it's precision and control on a PC.

People flocked to Minecraft on a console because it's kid friendly, single player and a game that makes sense on a controller.

I'm not sure people will flock to a console version of League of Legends when it's twelve million strong player base is already invested in their accounts and control on their platform. I have no doubt it'll find success and give financial benefits. It's just not a megaton. No fanboyism or ignorance involved. It won't shift consoles.

It'll be funny to see people meltdown if it happens, but I still don't think it matters. OS and games are what's going to empower one over the other.

Minecraft isn't Free to Play.

Would you rather have keyboard vs Controller or just Controller vs Controller? I would just like Controller vs Controller.

Saying it's a megaton means you really think everyone playing free right now (with tons of IP and Characters on their accounts) are really going to go for an inferior control mechanism?

Is it megaton worthy when you target a... very tiny group of people? And making it console-exclusive means you'd have to pay for the game most likely as well.

Most likely, yes. Not sure why you put the word "League" in bold.
You know what a league is right?

Oh man. Specs again.

Seriously, fuck the specs. Go through my post history, as far back as a year ago or more I said id be happy if the new consoles could pull off TODAYS visuals with full AA, 60 frames and better textures. Even at 720.

Why do you guys care about specs so much? They've been proven irrelevant time and time again.

If specs where irrelevant we would all still be playing Magnavox Odysseys. Specs aren't just about how it looks it is also about what it can do. I don't just want todays games with less jaggies and a higher framerate.

You know what a league is right?

Yes,

A collection of people, countries, or groups that combine for a particular purpose.

And? You know that there can be two different leagues in something, right? Stressing that word still doesn't make a lick of sense.

By the same token you have to look at games like Team Fortress 2 on consoles, which was a major phenomenon on PC but didn't do much on consoles.

Calling LoL on consoles a megaton now is still way too premature.
"Lots of people play it on PC!" is not a good not enough justification (Equally, I think Diablo 3 on consoles is a joke, outside of the exclusion of the RMAH)

Not to mention, I much rather have some other AAA title as the megaton.

Eh. I would be. Today's visuals are pretty amazing. You seen God of War Ascension?

Megaton who said megaton. It would be great to see League of Legends reach more people either on PS4 or Xbox 720. I don't know why you get so MAD about these discussions. I guess its good to be passionate. I think League Legends having another 100,000+ people on either system would be great.

Makes plenty of sense, it would be a totally different game.
