Minecraft is a single player game with a cheap entry point released late in a console's life cycle.

I don't know what any of the conversation is about, and my contradictory statement is in no way intended to contend your notion. I have played Minecraft by myself, but I think it's power is it's co-operative exploration and creation.

That's probably a "well duh" statement, but I felt compelled to post it.

Makes plenty of sense, it would be a totally different game.

It really wouldn't. Same characters, same tactics, different control scheme. You might find one scheme preferable, one might offer greater precision, but if offering an alternative on a another platform using the inputs they are comfortable with gets you even more players... why not do it?

You can play Minecraft on a PC too, and you don't have to buy a 360 to do it at all.

Dismissing a console exclusive of the most played PC game based on the fact that you cant imagine how it would work reeks of fanboyism and ignorance.

I'm not sure it's gonna happen, and, reiterating, I'm not sure how it's going to work but at least I'm rational about how much of an impact it would have on platform dominance.

No one is saying that LoL can't possibly have an impact but you are overestimating just how big of an impact it would have considering that the game would have to be "dumbed down" to work on consoles. Middle-Earth is an example of a step in the right direction but with as many things going on in LoL and even Dota 2, you can't just slap that on a console and assume everyone is going to jump on board just because it's an exclusive.

By the same token you have to look at games like Team Fortress 2 on consoles, which was a major phenomenon on PC but didn't do much on consoles.

Calling LoL on consoles a megaton now is still way too premature.
"Lots of people play it on PC!" is not a good not enough justification (Equally, I think Diablo 3 on consoles is a joke, outside of the exclusion of the RMAH)

Not to mention, I much rather have some other AAA title as the megaton.

Eh, TF2 had an awful netcode on the 360 (don't even want to imagine on PS3)
That and it never got the updates the PC version got. Now a well done LoL console version could definitely do wonders.

Megaton who said megaton. It would be great to see League of Legends reach more people either on PS4 or Xbox 720. I don't know why you get so MAD about these discussions. I guess its good to be passionate. I think League Legends having another 100,000+ people on either system would be great.

A shitload of people in this very thread.

Eh. I would be. Today's visuals are pretty amazing. You seen God of War Ascension?

Yeah, it's pretty. I am talking about advancing physics, AI, and scale. More dynamic open worlds, more interactive NPCs, stuff like that. For what its worth, I think the Durango will be powerful enough to deliver that.

It will, which is just another reason the spec wars are really annoying.

Read back a few pages my friend.

Why do you guys care about specs so much? They've been proven irrelevant time and time again.
Because graphics affect immersion which is also tied to satisfaction.

When a developer can create a game about real life or their imagination that isn't held back by hardware limitations, is the day I stop caring.

Ok sorry I missed that I don't read everything in this thread. Alot of F2P are incoming though.

I agree and expect it, I just think there isn't enough evidence to suugest LoL on Xbox is going to be this wildly successful record breaking game people swear it'll be because minecraft. Or that entire countries will totally put down the PC version and pick up the Xbox version in doves.

lets see the full plans before writing them off. alot of people now won't play a PC game if it doesn't have 360 controller support.

Not writing it off, at no point have I ever stated that LoL isn't coming to Xbox. That is every single one of you being dolts. I'm breaking it down for you and explaining to you the barriers to PC type success of the game on Xbox.

Unfortunately logical discussion invoking Xbox isn't really possible at the time. Hopefully once shit is announced many of you will come back down to earth. At the moment, you guys make the Sony fans look utterly tame.

You can play it for free now, anybody with a PC can, they don't need to drop 300/500 on a new machine to do so, or even pay for the game. I also laugh at the thought of playing LoL with a controller.

I already said this but if the new Xbox is running a version of Windows 8, what makes you think USB mice and keyboards wouldn't work?

Also, I think F2P games will still be free for XBL Silver and PSN Basic users come next-gen. MSony will take a cut out of all the micro-transactions in lieu of that restriction.

Why do that its so awkward when you are in front of a counch at least at my house. The controller is so nice. Win8 or not a controller will be the main focus.

Hasn't someone already stepped up and said that the Win 8 on Durango thing was bs?

I would be extremely surprised if Durango wasn't running some sort of Windows version, not necessarily the desktop version, but I think it's a perfect opportunity for MS to have all Win 8 apps supported by the Durango. In fact MS themselves have talked about synergy between Windows, Windows Phone and the Xbox.

It will, which is just another reason the spec wars are really annoying.

Yeah, we should be playing on Atari 2600 still. Who cares about power, in fact I wish my computer was still on windows 95. You seem to think people who value something different than you are annoying or disruptive. Specs are incredibly important. They drive the type of games that can be built, they drive visual quality, and in general the higher the specs the less restraint (for better or worse) developers will have.

The U will exist as it's own generation just like the Wii more or less did, it will get exclusives, they will be good, but it will be entirely ignored by the majority of developers due to the significant power difference. If either PS4 or Xbox 3 have a significant gap in power, it means either the visual quality will be harmed on the superior system, or that the graphics and/or performance will be harmed on the other.

It's understandable to want the best console, I hope the systems are at least even.

It's not the OS that prevents the Xbox 360 from supporting Keyboard and Mouse. You can already use a USB keyboard for text entry and I imagine mouse inputs are registered too, just not assigned to anything. They're not used as a choice, a design decision. For better or worse, I don't imagine that decision changing next gen.

Because it probably won't be running "Windows 8." But instead will be running some Xbox specific version of WinRT (10 dollars says someone confuses that with Windows RT). Every Xbox console has used Windows and not a single Xbox console has allowed KB/M as a input option for games. I suspect this will continue to be true with Xbox Whatever.

No. It is very, very, very likely to be running a version of it. Probably close to Windows RT.

Something that runs WinRT, but isn't Windows 8 based? Seems like a waste of time to create that.

I'm getting more excited for this thing. Tuesday should be fun.

No need to be sorry friend, I hold nothing against you having a different opinion!

I'm actually kind of iffy about that, but I still think it would benefit MSony to do that more. Eh, you're probably right.

I meant no offense. I just don't see a problem with paying for xbox live as long as MS keeps the advantage for online stuff.

If some players use K&M it would completely ruin multi-player. It has to work with a controller.

You're probably right, but I still think it would be possible for things like web browsing.

I used the word "version" in my post :P

But in the context of new Xbox vs PS4, people are talking like the difference would be world shattering if somehow the PS4 is "20%" better than the new Xbox.

I'm sorry, but in THAT context. It's irrelevant. It's not like the new Xbox will hinder developers from creating great games.

To be fair, I think "the laws of diminishing returns" is starting to really kick in with horsepower. Unlike SNES->N64, there aren't too many different experiences next gen can offer due to higher specs.

Like I said, you're probably right. More so if both do indeed have a mandatory paid service for multiplayer. I just thought they might want to broaden the audience (and possible micro-transaction purchasing opportunities) for the F2P games as much as possible.
