I would be extremely surprised if Durango wasn't running some sort of Windows version, not necessarily the desktop version, but I think it's a perfect opportunity for MS to have all Win 8 apps supported by the Durango. In fact MS themselves have talked about synergy between Windows, Windows Phone and the Xbox.

Yeah, and when you look at what's happened since the 360 (Apple, Google, other companies that have that great synergy across software and hardware), it seems even more likely. I hope they go for it.

You're probably right, but I still think it would be possible for things like web browsing.

Microsoft is trying to get to people to move away from KBM on Windows. I doubt they will support it on the Durango (even if it would be useful).

I think LoL could work with a controller. It controls pretty similar to Diablo and that works ok on a controller. It would be different, but I think it would be kind of cool.

I agree and expect it, I just think there isn't enough evidence to suugest LoL on Xbox is going to be this wildly successful record breaking game people swear it'll be because minecraft.

I don't think anyone said that "entire countries would abandon the PC version for the Durango version". I just think that it would be a huge differentiating factor for people when deciding which platform to invest in and that it would CERTAINLY sell boxes.

At the moment, you guys make the Sony fans look utterly tame.

Not even close to true.

Minecraft is a single player game with a cheap entry point released late in a console's life cycle.

League of Legends is a competitive multi-player game often said to be the pinnacle of e-Sports due to it's precision and control on a PC.

People flocked to Minecraft on a console because it's kid friendly, single player and a game that makes sense on a controller.

I'm not sure people will flock to a console version of League of Legends when it's twelve million strong player base is already invested in their accounts and control on their platform. I have no doubt it'll find success and give financial benefits. It's just not a megaton. No fanboyism or ignorance involved. It won't shift consoles.

Uh, no it's not.

Minecraft on the 360 has multiplayer. It has creative competitive player vs player stuff. It has multiplayer RPG quests, split screen co-op....and much more.

I see Takuya is prepping for May 21st. Give 'em hell, son.

Ehhh, naw, I'll have it in a small window streaming at work on one of my monitors. Probably chime in from time to time on GAF during. Well... Probably after since Sonic crashed GAF the other day.

Uh, no it's not.

It has a multiplayer mode. It's not really competitive though. The draw for Minecraft is really seeing everyone's creations, and even creating things together. Can create things alone or online though.

Minecraft isn't Free to Play.

Saying it's a megaton means you really think everyone playing free right now (with tons of IP and Characters on their accounts) are really going to go for an inferior control mechanism?

Is it megaton worthy when you target a... very tiny group of people? And making it console-exclusive means you'd have to pay for the game most likely as well.

You know what a league is right?

The inferior control argument comes up every time a popular PC title makes its way to the consoles. People said an Elder Scrolls game would never transition to a controller. Not only did the game do well but it outsold it's PC counterpart. Sure PC gamers think they dumb-ed it down for the consoles, but that's not the point is it. They made the game accessible to the console audience, who in turn ate it up.

It doesn't matter that you feel it won't be a true LoL, the goal is to bring the experience to a new market.

Do you play LoL?

Not really,"league" also can translate to "聯盟" in chinese

I know what League can be translated to.
But you were arguing that "聯盟" doesn't necessarily just translate to "league" (singular), but also terms like "consortium" (which can imply leagues, plural), etc.

And I'm telling you that it's silly to even argue that, cause the two of us are looking like idiots and Takuya wouldn't care.

I think LoL can translate to controls well enough, I think it's not going to do MC numbers because LoL isn't pick up and play and the learning curve is pretty intense. And despite what people want to believe "consolifying" is a real thing that developers do for a reason. Console gamers are much more instant gratification than PC gamers. If LoL came to Xbox I'll bet money it won't be the same as the PC game in many aspects.

The thing I want most is for MS to show need that they still care about the core group they established.

I want to see new original titles like Crackdown, Viva Pinata, etc. I DONT want them to fall back on the ultra safe Halo, Forza, Gears, rotation and expect me to get excited and jump onboard again for another generation.

Lay out some aspects that you think would change and then if an announcement comes, we can tally it up :P The big change would be moving to direct control, but in terms of what's actually being played, I think it'd remain essentially intact.

Why i'm look like an idiot when he's not right or he doesn't care?i have lots of time so i can do what i want just like Takuya keep trash this thread.

You should play until you're 30, then think about how well that exact game would play on a gamepad.

I'm over 30 and I hate keyboard and mouse after my work day. I feel controllers do a great job and I don't miss Wow or Quake TF well maybe quake TF. Nevermind I didn't realize what you meant I've been drinking.

This post is so ignorant it hurts.

Which part was ignorant? That the next box OS would be a Win8 derived OS? Or that it would be dumb to get the WinRT runtime(yes that is redundant, but wanted to be clear) running on something other than a Win derived OS?

Windows RT is a abortion of a OS

Was merely saying that the next box OS would be running a Windows based OS that only WinRT targetted applications can be created and deployed to the marketplace. Like Windows RT, except it obviously won't be running on ARM.

All versions utilize WinRT, Windows Phone, Windows 8, and Windows RT all use it, so there is no "dumbing down to get WinRT. Whatever MS cooks up if they want app compatitbility it'll use WinRT. This goes without saying.

Real close now. I really want to... want one. Wasn't the biggest 360 fan due to various reasons mostly involving ads and the like... I like for game systems to be about games. Features are great, I just didn't enjoy the 360 ecosystem if you will. Just too much bullshit and clutter for me. I don't expect this to change but I hope they find ways to make the dashboard less... shameless.

just over 60 hours left, people are getting anxious, making sure damage control groundwork is sufficiently prepared for the oncoming storm.

Part of the beauty of LoL and Dota / Dota 2 was the international competition. A battle between 4 regions, EU, NA, SEA, Asia.

It took someone like Icefrog, someone who religiously work for Dota for many years before he went to Valve for development of Dota 2, to convince professional teams in China to make the jump from Dota to Dota 2. He has 629k followers on the chinese equivalent of twitter as of this post. Pro teams aside, China, Taiwan, Korea and SEA has been big fans of f2p games on PC. Internet Cafe has always been a huge phenomenon. To ask them to pay for a console to play f2p games already available on PC and in Xbox case, probably paying a fee annually for multi-player and using controller to boot is an uphill task.

I know what your trying to say but you're missing my point. The console version would not be for you. Just like some people still prefer Elder Scroll games on the PC. You can still play the PC version. But that does not mean that there is not money to be made on the Consoles for a game like LoL.

edit: You may even have some migrate to the PC once they got their feet wet with the kiddie version ;)

But you're not trying to pull PC LoL players into the console space, you're trying to get console gamers playing LoL too.

I never said something would be "dumbed down". Merely saying that it would be windows based (which includes windows phone). And only WinRT applications would be able to be deployed and installed from the marketplace...just like "Windows RT". That is the comparison I was making. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Bolded is obviously obvious.

The difference lies in its a competitive social game, it's very cooperative in nature. It's also a game with great appeal in the competitive scene. Some of the pro teams has over 100k+ subscriber on youtube and something like 567k people watch TI2 grand finals. If you want to moneyhat LoL from Tencent, you have to consider how to make these aspects work.
