Are there any benefits to adding players apart from being able to visit their town and get some of their designs?
You can trade fruit/items/bugs/fish/fossil and play multiplayer games on the island too.

I'm kind of nervous about getting caught up in the hype but the game being absolutely boring. Is doing stuff fun?
If you find Harvest Moon fun chances are you'll like AC too. They're very similar in the sense that you do very mundane stuff in game that ends up being fun.

I guess this is a silly question but what's so good about animal crossing? Never played one before.

It's a game about making your own fun. Even though you're essentially doing what most would consider "busy work", it can actually be really entertaining. Being able to design your rooms, town, clothes, etc. is what makes the game really fun though. The customization and turning the town into your own can't be found in any other game really.

You'd have to try it to really understand it.

We almost did that

Wife wasnt happy about me not having a town of my own to be the mayor of it

Yeah, I think it'll be worth it in the end though. Thought about it for a while, but only one player being a mayor and the added benefit of island games that you can play together to get more medals? I think we are going to enjoy that a lot. Plus we wont need any rules about who gets to take/dig out how much stuff. I think it will definitely be more enjoyable for us since my gf loves to play games with me, so I said fuck it and bought the 2nd 3DS yesterday (although used with 1 year guarantee left). Only paid 100€ for the 3DS so I guess thats decent enough.

mmmmmmmmm... island games?

Ive been away from AC news so i dont spoil the game.....

BUt now you got me wonder if a second 3ds wont be needed.......

mmmmmmmmmm....

I'm going to try not to keep restarting to get a good town layout. I did that a lot in the Gamecube one (only one I've played).

Yeah, I went through the exact same thoughts over the period of a few weeks:

1. How about another 3DS for AC? That could be neat, right?
2. Nah, its money for something we dont REALLY need. We played the last game that way as well. We'll make due somehow.
3. Hm, but only one gets to be mayor? Ugh, annoying. But... 150€ more just to play it together? Probably not worth it still though.
4. Oh god, island games we could play together? ... UGH. She LOVES to play stuff with me and she LOVES AC... You got me!

I also already told her that I'll make her a bigger gift this year for christmas and birthday together AND give it to her earlier (She has no clue what its going to be) I plan to give her the new 3DS with Animal Crossing started up to make her new character(so she doesnt know its not the same 3DS), and then meet up with my "original" 3DS animal crossing character to tell her ingame that I gifted a 3DS and Animal crossing to her so that we can play together :)

I'll restart until I get Rolf.
I absolutely need him :p
Oh and I always name my city Hyrule, I'm not that good at naming town.
Since the customization in this game is much better, I will try to make it looks like it this time.

I can see this thread is going the Fire Emblem route already, just with dog-woman fetishism instead of waifu obsession. Yet another title ruined by weirdos.

I don't spose you can influence your fruit choice as well?

I really want to have native apples... Assuming apples are still a thing in this game.

Is Groucho in this game?!

Also, Salsa I need your FC!

It's a real shame this took so long to come out to North America. We missed out on last year's Christmas season. I love winter time in these Animal Crossing games.

Summer is a good a time as any to start though, hahaha. I can't wait to get this and start fishing and catching bugs, etc...

Phew. I've added everybody who posted their FC in this thread. If I somehow missed you, please let me know :)

This game has everything doesn't it?

^Alright I'm going to add all those codes

mine is 2277-6642-9179

I'm steal'n SalsaShark's idea and just posting it this way. This way, there are no mistakes. =P

But yeah a spreadsheet later would be really helpful.

This is a great idea, I'm adding everyone I see here.

Added everyone here.
Hey guys, please add me as well :D I've added all of you.

My FC is 2836-0194-8979

Thanks :D

This thread is inspiring me to pick up my 3DS and start playing 999 again.

I remember I purchased a 3DS XL and Layton on an impulse because of my hype for Animal Crossing. And the months went on and on and on and there was still no word of Animal Crossing New Leaf getting a North American date. And so I stopped playing 3DS altogether.

It's finally coming soon!

The best thing about this thread for me is having discovered the greatness that is swapnote.

I'm having fun drawing, that didn't happen since 20 years...

You people have talent, i need google image to remotely try to imitate something that may or not ressemble something (but I try without for the lulz like my hippo head that was awful).

I'll get better !

What's this? Only one save per game? I'd want to play, along with my 2 kids. We only have 1 3DS (they still have DS lites). Am I fucked? The one thing you can usually rely on Nintendo for is three save slots per game.

No, one person gets to be mayor but you can still have four people living in the same town. Four "saves" and houses basically.

Here are a couple wallpapers I whipped up (1600x900) -- on a Windows 7 PC, go to Control Panel, Change Desktop, and select both of them so they rotate on your desktop like the seasons!

Also, I love Nat. Anyone know about his character? Apparently he first appeared in City Folk. His design is awesome:

A new wave of AC plushies and other merchandise came out here in Japan over the past few weeks. The Shizue (Isabelle?) plush even has real bells.

They probably mean "time travel" as in screwing with the system clock to jump back and forth in time. I.E. Get this game in June, set WiiU clock to December, celebrate Christmas, return to summer, lol.

Oh.
...
...
...
Ooooooh!

Well, that's just wrong!
I thought it would screw up the game, like your neighbours would change or something.

The only good thing about City Folk was that it got rid of those horrendous Wild World events such as La-Di Day and Yay-Day. Seriously, what the fuck was up with those shitty, useless events.

Otherwise, City Folk was such a disappointment.

Well, I have the money for one 3DS game, either Fire emblem or this.

Or lego city but I hear that's bad?

Yeah both Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing would be more worth your time. If you're looking for sheer playtime alone, Animal Crossing pretty much guarantees a year of original content with holidays, events, seasons etc., "the game that's awake even when you don't play" or whatever the advertising schpiel for the first GC title was.

A year does sound pretty awesome, especially since I don't have a ton of games for my 3DS yet.

New Leaf is the best AC yet, correct? If so, can you share some reasons why? :)

More customization, you can be the mayor and customize parts of your town, more places to use custom textures (furniture, etc). You can streetpass houses, visit dream towns when people are away... A lot more. Definitely the best AC you could get.

New Leaf is like the true sequel of Animal Crossing/Forest.
They didn't just add content, but tons of feature as well.
Also, is it true that you don't have the boring "tutorial" at the beginning? (working for Tom Nook for like 45 mins)
