"SPHWEET!" You going to clean up my monitor now?

feature set wise if it does the same thing I see a lawsuit

voice activated commands
show info relevant to interests

lawsuits happen all the time

It doesn't do the same thing. One is a creepy automatic search application. The other is a game console with video on demand, a twitter feed on your SmartGlass app synced to live TV, and voice control of your home entertainment. One is hardware the other is a search engine application.

Sure anyone can sue, but the fact that MS registered the domain a decade ago and the product and precise branding is different means Google would have a very hard time winning such a lawsuit. Now is a common word, it's not Tivo or Wii or Xbox. Also Google hasn't established the Now brand so I think there would be very little consumer confusion. If anything it would create problems (albeit insignificant) for Google with the billion dollar ad campaign MS will run for their brand.

I don't even like the series, but I would love to see the funky 90s art style of Killer Instinct translated into a brand new next gen game.

Xbox Now! is trademarked and domain registered. If and when Microsoft wants to use that name they can with very little resistance. Google is not a direct competitor to Xbox. "Bing Now" would be more lawsuit worthy than Xbox Now! Also the "explanation" mark makes it different.
Actually, they can't. The term "Xbox Now" is only trademarked in Europe and it's only for G&S "Audio, video and multimedia broadcasting via the internet.", as I wrote in the TalesFrom4ChansAss thread.

If they want to use Xbox Now as the name for the next console, they would have to register it under Nice classification 9 (regarding Europe anyway):

Interactive video game devices comprised of computer hardware and software and accessories, namely, game consoles, game controllers, and software for operating game controllers; electronic devices, namely computer hardware for accessing global computer and communication networks; computer hardware and computer peripherals; cameras; computer software for playing video games and computer games with others via a global computer or communication network and for accessing and browsing global computer and communication networks; computer software for compressing and decompressing data and video images, word text editing, and for composing, transmitting and receiving email; operating system software programs and utility programs for use with the above referenced machines; user manuals therefor sold as a unit therewith; computer programs, namely, game software for use on computers and video game players; prerecorded videotapes, audio tapes, CDs and DVDs featuring sound and video in the fields of music, live action programs, motion pictures and animated cartoons; motion picture films featuring comedy, drama, action, adventure and animation; motion picture films for broadcast on television featuring comedy, drama, action, adventure and animation; and covers for computer game consoles.
That's what Xbox 360 (and most other Xbox hardware related things) is registered under.

So I had heard something about cross-gen being a big thing and MS is prepping to update 360 to match branding... but is it more than that?

Could we see cross-gen play between 360 and next Xbox?

Well, from the dash updates we can see x360 having the same kind of crossgen we had from OG Xbox, with friend lists, party chat and stuffs, they don't say if anything game level will be crossgen.

Edit: aaaaaaand, i'm a member :)

Well, they can use it. It just won't be trademark protected until they register it, presumably after the announcement, like Sony did. Still, it definitely won't be called that. Or Infinity for that matter...

Then, the chart show what I said.

What the chart doesn't show is that Microsoft is getting paid for over 60% of Android devices sold (80% in the US). And that money is being funneled directly into Windows and Windows partners like Nokia.

Microsoft wants Windows to overtake Apple, Android in mobile, but they also have plenty of time to make it happen. Every trend on that chart is good for Microsoft's bottom line (Android/Windows going up and everything else going down).

So, the Xbox now thing completely debunks 4chan rumours, right ?

Good.

And in case someone still doubted, that chart confirms we're seeing the console itself on Tues..
