I'll be shocked if that comes in 2009 let alone 2007.

Everybody's golf?

Are these strictly retail games as well because there's first party stuff like Calling all Cars, Flow, LocoRoco???

I've only counted the retail games.

White Knight Story won't make 2007...is it even scheduled yet outside Japan?

The director behind WK said that his intention was to release it in autumn of 2007.
That was said last year though so I don't know if that holds.

What about the new game of Naughty Dog?

Both games coming this year. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is the name of the ND game.

Yep and Iwata and Miyamoto promised SSBB and Mario Galaxy at or near launch along with Prime 3.

Execs lie all the time to keep investors happy

is making a list like this gonna accomplish anything?

plus the line bewteen first and second party is so blurry that you'd have to spend days getting an exact definition and then arguing about which games/companies fit the definition.

besides, i wouldn't put Too Human on a release list for any year.

PGR4 is supposed to be for 2007. I'll believe it when I see it. I also have serious doubts about Denis Dyack's magnum opus showing up this year.

Also there's Monster Kingdom, Eight Days, and The Getaway for PS3. Not sure if any of them are expected this year though.

Monster Kingdom should. I'd find it hard to believe SCEJ will only publish 1 or 2 games this year, so Monster Kingdom would make it 3.

Some new eyetoy software seems very likely in 07, but of course we've heard nothing on that yet. There'll probably be a NHL and maybe a soccer game from Sony too.

Sony has a lot of 07 candidates, but it would be nice if they firmed up on specific scheduling. Hopefully their next gamers' day will give more visibility.

360 is missing PGR4 and Banjo (believe). Alan Wake is officially a 2008 title.
I'd be surprised but incredibly impressed if Banjo Kazooie made it out this year and Rare was able to produce at least one Xbox 360 game every single year. (Jetpac doesn't count) :D

Viva Pinata was announced in March 06 and released 8 months later. Banjo was unveiled (albeit without any screenshot) at X06 last september, so you never know ;)

Here's what I gathered from IGN for Sony in 2007:

(in order of when likely to come out)

Calling all Cars!
Go! Puzzle
Super Rub-a-Dub
MLB '07: The Show
Lair
SingStar
Heavenly Sword
Warhawk
Home
Hot Shots Golf 5
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction
Eye of Judgement
Eight Days
*possible 2008
Little Big Planet
Unknown Realms
*possible cancelation or 2008
Gran Turismo 5 Prolougue
Afrika
*possible 2008

Is it wrong that the only game I'm slightly interested in is Motorstorm? Even then, I wouldn't buy a PS3 for it.

It's a depressing time to be a gamer who enjoys the obscure.

Id say by far the biggest chance of cancellation in there is 8 days..its gone MIA

But do you think that Rare could really make a platformer in that short time, not even Nintendo could churn out a Mario title platformer that fast.

Yeah but BK is the first 360 game from Rare to actually start development after the system launched. It does seem like MS wants to have 1 Kameo or 1 Viva Pinata every holiday, so BK would fit the bill for this year. Unfortunately I don't think it's realistic. Nor do I think MS has really positioned the platform in a way that Rare's titles can be successful. If Halo 3 and GTAIV are the biggest reasons to pick up an Xbox 360 this Fall then Banjo Kazooie doesn't stand a snowballs chance in hell.

As far as I know BK was in preproduction before the 360 launch, started production around the launch time and went to full production when the VP team members joined the rest of the crew. That would make a few months of preproduction + 1 year of production at a "slow" rate + 1 year of full production. It should be enough for most titles, but this is Rare we are talking about so you never know.
We'll know at E3 I guess.

Well... based off that comment, based on the lists... I'd say that'd make the 360 comparative to a library study session... and if the Wii got any more exciting, a funeral would break out...

/yawn...

I'll stop you right there, Gran Turismo, GTA, Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid were the biggest reasons to get a PS2, yet there was still space for Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank... although thinking further the Xbox brand might be stuck in the same stigma as the Nintendo connsoles are branded as kiddy, whereas the playsstation has always had at least that one Crash Bandicoot or Spyro game on their system that appealed to people.

what the hell was i trying to point out again???

I never realised "L.A.I.R." was an acronym. What does it stand for?

It's not but the logo has like nails between each letter which has made it popular to write L.A.I.R.

Sony has always strived on 3rd party..but even then..their 1st party is pretty awesome.

Sony's made inroads on the PS2, near the end of the PS2's life i think they were the third biggest publisher on their own console behind only by Ubisoft and EA which is saying something.

It will be interesting to see how Sony's first party does on the PS3, might end up making February's NPD data seem like a blip.

I don't think Sony was 100% satisfied with sales of those platformers which is why they both took on a slightly darker edge and more mature shooter oriented edge in later sequels. Also Final Fantasy and Gran Turismo appeal to a broader spectrum than ultra violent games like Gears of War. Your kids may not be thrilled by Gran Turismo, but when you put in Gears you make sure the kids are not even in the room. Until Xbox 360 starts having million sellers that are like GT and Final Fantasy and not ultra violent there is not going to really be an audience to sell Rare games to. Pretty much all the million sellers on 360 are violent/dark games though.

I don't want to spread FUD on Blue Dragon and Banjo Kazooie, but what is Microsoft really doing for these games so that they don't end up like Viva Pinata and Kameo (or Psychonauts, Conker, Voodoo Vince, Blinx, Grabbed by the Ghoulies, Whacked, Kung Fu Chaos, etc.)? I mean they commissioned 4Kids to make an animated series for Viva Pinata, that's a pretty extreme length to go to try to sell a game. I believe they're doing the same for Blue Dragon. At least in Blue Dragon there is some fighting so maybe that is enough violence to grab some interest. Plus it's got that anime style which is popular with the kids today. Certainly the $400 price tag for a 360 doesn't help, but even just lowering the price would not be enough. I don't know how important this younger audience or this "family" audience is to MS, but they consistently keep trying to grab a piece of it every year. Maybe they just need to make a cheaper Fizzly Bear edition Xbox 360 or get McDonalds to offer up some Blue Dragon toys with value meals.

The Nintendo and 360 lists look like a full-fledged, powerhouse year line-ups.

Consoles in full swing.

The PS3 list looks like one that should be a launch list. They should be 1 year ahead from where they are in their release schedule to be able to compete.

Sony needed their big guns out this year to compete with the big boys on the other lists.
