First party line-ups 2007 on PS3, Wii, 360

I want all those damn games on the 360, Wii has a few games that i want... but PS3 has no games that I want personally. Who knows though, some of those may get rave reviews and i will be forced to pick it up.

The Nintendo and 360 lists look like a full-fledged, powerhouse year line-ups.

Consoles in full swing.

The PS3 list looks like one that should be a launch list. They should be 1 year ahead from where they are in their release schedule to be able to compete.

Sony needed their big guns out this year to compete with the big boys on the other lists.

Isn't it a bit too early to say?

Sony keep everything to themselves these days till the last minute for better or for worse, never heard of anything to the build up the LBP neither was anyone expecting anything like it, and I'm sure E3 (or whatever it's called) will provide surprise game announcements from all 3.

And that's more than what MS offered in their first year to say the least.

I mean they commissioned 4Kids to make an animated series for Viva Pinata, that's a pretty extreme length to go to try to sell a game.

well the cartoon is to promote the entire brand as i believe they've had it planned for some time now to have many more than just one VP game, and i think that's been confirmed already. i fully expect the cartoon to be cancelled soon if they don't push out like a racing game or some kind of VP platformer or something.

400$ is a lot, but my sister is ready to purchase one for Viva Pinata. the game is slow selling, but i think it's going to keep moving along slowly as more people pick up 360s and the game will be a secondary pick up for many people.

Yeah but BK is the first 360 game from Rare to actually start development after the system launched. It does seem like MS wants to have 1 Kameo or 1 Viva Pinata every holiday, so BK would fit the bill for this year. Unfortunately I don't think it's realistic. Nor do I think MS has really positioned the platform in a way that Rare's titles can be successful. If Halo 3 and GTAIV are the biggest reasons to pick up an Xbox 360 this Fall then Banjo Kazooie doesn't stand a snowballs chance in hell.
Releasing BK this holiday season would just be sending it to die. The 360 has shown it can support a big release outside of the holiday season. I think BK would be much better served as the anchor for Microsoft's midwinter 08 releases. As long as they put it forward as the next big "Game of the Month" I think they could garner much more support from the userbase.

Paper Mario 2 was hyped up to the maxx here, although I found it charming and quite decent, it never lived up to it. Still haven't finished it neither to be honest.

I'm only buying four games for the Wii this year: SSBB, SPM, Fire Emblem, and SMG. When the 360 drops to $300, that's gonna wind up as my main system. Now that I've gotten a taste of PC-like games, I need MORE.

Metroid says "Please Ani give me one more chance!"

Possibly, but I think they would have to be nuts not to be hyping up any AAA title that they have in the pipeline that they are certain will release in 2007.

Also set for 2007 release:
PGR4
Banjo 3
Kingdom under Fire:Circle of Heroes

The Wii lineup looks awesome! Makes me happy i bought the console, and its probably not all of it too. The PS3 is also not bad, cant wait.

XBOX360 – Microsoft games 2007
Halo 3

PS3 – Sony games 2007
Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction

Wii – Nintendo games 2007
Super Mario Galaxy
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Super Paper Mario
Battalion Wars II
Wii Music
Big Brain Academy

Hmmmm. I know I need a PS3 or 360 this year for the Free Radical projects, but I'm still up in the air on which one. There's a few maybes on both lists, but there's only 1 must have for me from each. Good thing I've got time still...

XBOX360 – Microsoft games 2007

Crackdown - own
Halo 3 - maybe
Alan Wake - buy
Mass Effect -buy
Blue Dragon - buy
Lost Oddysee - buy
Too Human - buy
ShadowRun - maybe

PS3 – Sony games 2007

Wii – Nintendo games 2007

Super Paper Mario - interesting

Nothing special that makes me wanna buy another console yet.

XBOX360 – Microsoft games 2007

Halo 3
Mass Effect
-----
Alan Wake (pc version for me)
Too Human (maybe)

PS3 – Sony games 2007

L.A.I.R. (maybe)
Heavenly Sword (maybe)

Wii – Nintendo games 2007

Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Super Mario Galaxy
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Super Paper Mario
-----
Wii Music (maybe depending on what it is)
Wii Health (maybe depending on what it is)

Nothing really interesting in sony land. 360 isn't too bad but some of the games i'll be getting on pc instead. Wii has the best first party this year providing we dont get delay raped. The third party stuff is where it's sucking though... hopefully some of the unannounced super excite games matt-ign was talking about live up to the hype.

Project H.A.M.M.E.R. - MAYBE
Fire Emblem - BUY
DK Bongo Blast

PS3 - White Knight Story (if I should get a PS3)
X360 - Eternal Sonata (if I should get a 360, but Blue Dragon looks disappointing to my taste)

I'm buying all those Wii games (i absolutely love Nintendo 1st party stuff) and getting a PS3 when FXIII comes out , not interested in the slightest in the Xbox360 line-up.
My PS2,Wii and my awesome DS shall fullfill my gaming needs this year.

I can't believe "Mario Strikers Charged" will be the first soccer game on Wii. I know it should be a fun/arcadey game, but surely even a dodgy FIFA port would have sold well?

Where's Culdcept? And EDF2?

As a rare PS3 owner, I still have to say these lists reak of bullshit.

edit: oh, 1st party. Still bullshitty.

EDIT

just read the thread. .

What this list doesn't show is that most big third party titles are coming to PS3 and/or 360. Games like GTA4, DMC4, Assasin's Creed, Bioshock, and Kane and Lynch makes me happy I own both consoles.

Wii will have Godfather, Scarface and Manhunt 2 though. :)

Ok, let's see if we can't put this argument to bed.

There are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party developers, but as far as games are concerned, there is only 1st and 3rd party. A game is either published by a console manufacturer (1st party) or it isn't (3rd party). Meanwhile, a studio can either be fully owned by a console manufacturer (1st party), partially owned or in an exclusive publishing deal with a console manufacturer (2nd party), or completely independent with their own publishing arm or using another company to publish (3rd party).

So whether a game is developed by a 1st party or a 2nd party studio, it's still a 1st party game, while 3rd party games are just always 3rd party.

I think that covers it.

Nicely done.

Except that I would add that third party companies can have first party games. Just look at Factor 5, Silicon Knights, Bioware, Bizarre, etc.
