1st time poster on this thread, whom had mixed feelings about this episode.
**On one hand, I loved the events on the weeding: both
Cersei lashing out against the already-too-comfortable Margaery (could swear I hear the later making a "gulp" sound after it), and specially how
Tyrion confronted the goddamn King -in front of everyone- to protect Sansa (you could see his hand
trembling, while slowly spelling out his threat. Like a mix of anger, fear and desperation).
He really is the kind of person that grows up when facing dire situations. But! can't stop but feel that next time, he won't be so lucky to have his father there to help placate Joffrey.
Also, I confirmed my suspicious that the Hound does really have a soft spot (well, at least for girls in distress). Also, since
Arya is making powerful allies everywhere, I'm starting to feel that she -along with Danny, Jon and Tyrion-, will end up being the true major heroes of Westeros.
On the other hand, I'm not feeling the new addition to Daenerys army (whom apparently has not being added to the HBO GoT Viewer's guide yet). The whole situation felt a bit too fast and convenient, as if I was missing a lot of pages from the book. Is that how it was presented there as well? Also, he looks a bit too "elfish" and "cartoony" for my taste: I have no problems with Dragons or ice welding creatures, but somehow, he felt too much like an RPG archetype.
Plus, even if his pledge was sincere and long-term committed (which I doubt, specially after his speech of
"I do what I want, whenever I feel like it"), how can Danny be sure that his army is going to be ok to follow a low rank that just killed the 2 main leaders. They were never portrayed as unconditional followers, were they?
Finally, I thought the last scene was less exciting than it should. It started great, with the crows slowly arriving to that Sacred tree (which I thought, would somehow protect them) presaging the arrival of the enemy. Quite eery. Then, suddenly seeing the silhouette of a full
White walker! Great moment, specially after noticing how easily dispatched the sword.
But alas, seeing him completely disregard Sam sort of feel like a cop out. I was expecting them to be completely merciless. But on the other hand, the fact that he was alone, and clearly looking for the baby (and remembering that Craster only gave them male kids), strongly implies that it's their main/only way to create more like them - ie. not just zombies.
Extra: You would think that legends would pass the knowledge that Obsidian weapons are their weakness. But somehow, it's not the case. -
