The whole "I think you're hot so I'll join you" thing Dario pulled was completely unbelievable, but then again we know very little about the character so maybe it'll become more realistic in future episodes.

Also Danny, as I've said before, needs to be taken down a notch. She has no one equal to her that would keep her at bay and she seems to be getting more and more cocky all the time.

Overall a very good episode. The Davos and Stannis scene was great.

Am I the only person that absolutely hates all of the Khaleesi stuff?
Its like one minute you have all these interesting characters, locations and plots, next you're suddenly watching Scorpion King.

I like many of the characters in the Dany and Jon story arcs, but they are easily my least favorite parts of the show. Everything is too convenient or easily explained away, they lack depth and meaningful character interactions and often remind me of some high fantasy B-movies

I don't like how the show handled the white walkers after the amazing opening scene of the very first episode. They're little more than Walking Dead zombies now that can be easily dispatched, they just look goofy to me and not threatening at all

Stannis mentioned Robb Stark first when casting the leeches into the fire. Since he envisioned a great battle in the snow, is it likely that he and young wolf will face off first? Doesn't make much sense, though, since Stannis's army is considerably diminished after the battle last season - then again, so is Robb's.

On the other hand, I'm not feeling the new addition to Daenerys army (whom apparently has not being added to the HBO GoT Viewer's guide yet). The whole situation felt a bit too fast and convenient, as if I was missing a lot of pages from the book. Is that how it was presented there as well? Also, he looks a bit too "elfish" and "cartoony" for my taste: I have no problems with Dragons or ice welding creatures, but somehow, he felt too much like an RPG archetype.

His equipment load was too high after looting the white walker so he had to make room.
Haha, that phat l00t.

I didn't get the coin scene though. Jaqen mentioned to Arya last season that if she wanted to meet him again, give the Bravos coin to someone from there. So is Dario from there? And you gotta kill a dude if you get one of those coins? That didn't make sense to me.
Oh, I didn't notice that. So Jaqen is from Braavos? Somehow I thought he was inviting Arya to some secluded town where "unique" assassins were trained.

And now that I think about it, are they 'hire-able'? Because if so, it's odd that they are not predominant on the series. I mean, could understand if people like Tywin (too old school) or the Stark (too moral) would not resort to them, but people like Varys, Cersei, Littlefinger or even Stannis seem like obvious users. I do not mention Maester Pycelle, because something is clearly is going on with him, and would not rule out that he is one of the puppet masters (what with him being the conselour from the previous kings, while somehow not being as decrepit as it should after all those years, as shown in that scene where he changes his usual posture, plus he obviously knows a lot of stuff ).

And getting back to Melisandre: Does it means that anyone that it's crowned King somehow gets mad powerful blood, regardless of his origins (same with the relatives)? Kind of odd that Daenerys does not seems be considered a threat -at all- by the witch.

Loved the episode. Ticked all the right boxes for me. Some actual fun development and story telling Daenerys was very welcome. It was a good example of her to make her story interesting on a per-episode basis, and why she was so boring during season two.

Wedding was phenomenal. Not a like out of place.

Jaqen being from Braavos? Mayhaps. The coin he gave to Arya is from Braavos. Their hire-ability seems to not have been mentioned in the show (at least the show wiki doesn't mention anything of the sort), but it was mentioned in a Small Council meeting back in the first book.

say, didn't he also support the Mad King in his endeavor to blow up King's Landing? I vaguely remember Jaime mentioning this to Brienne

Unsullied are better. There's an example of why in the backstory, but it didn't make it to the viewers guide.

hm, I'd like to know more about this if it doesn't contain any spoilers

He is actually my second favorite part of the show after Tyrion.
maybe I just dislike her so much it influences my opinion off all the other stuff in her arc.

So did Daario kill an Unsullied man to get that armour, or...?

Can't see Dany being happy with one of her special soldiers being murdered. :P

Yes I enjoyed the bath scene too, I would welcome it on a per episode basis

Wow, is that his official appearance? Is there by chance a place where I can see the faces of all the current characters, without being spoiled? (the reason of why I never go to the other thread)

I don't recall that either, but it adds to my pet theory that he might have been the culprit of the King's madness: I just cannot imagine someone like Jamie taking the Guard oath for someone that was always that cruel; so, I'm thinking the madness started in the later years. But perhaps it's just me not knowing enough of his background.

PM'd, it's about a battle that happened 400 years before the series started.
Can you please also PM it that to me? Would love to read it as well. -

They're very expensive.
I see, that's explain it. Thanks.

Why are these threads so large but there are so few posts during and immediately after the broadcasts? I remember LOST threads that were out of control.

For me it's because of commercial breaks and a lack thereof. Also, I used to watch shows while having a laptop handy. Much easier for me to type up posts that way than from my smartphone and I don't have my laptop any longer nor have I been able to justify buying a tablet. Easier to type and watch with a keyboard than looking down at a screen.

This season has been great. Low on action, but plenty of character and plot development compared to season 2.

Had the same reaction when Sam left the dagger. wtf

I was seriously hoping he would have a swag-ass blue three pronged beard with a gold mustache.

:(

Then again it might not really blend well with the aesthetic they go for in the series. ;)

It must be said that Martin has a fucked up sense of aesthetic. IIRC somewhere in the books Daario has a part green part purple mustache/beard while wearing gold or something.

It's also hard to take Roose Bolton seriously when he's supposed to wear pink boots and shit.

Wow, is that his official appearance?

It's a fan art but yeah, he supposed to have a trident blue beard and blue hair.

Nevermind this is a bad idea stay off the god-damned internet.

If you're really curious about it, post about a character's appearance and maybe some benevolent reader can post a pic for you.

Man... that little smirk Tyrion had on his face when Shae took the unsoiled sheets out of the room. I grinned for him there.

Though man, I can't help thinking what shit is going to hit the fan if Sansa does end up falling for Tyrion because he's been so nice to her. I really didn't think she was being a dick to him when she sputtered "what if I never want to". I think she was being a 14 year old who just had some wine and was in an uncomfortable place.

If you like, type a character's name into google like "Khal Drogo wiki". On the top right of each page at "A Wiki of Ice and Fire" it will have an illustration of the character per the book's description.

DO NOT SCROLL DOWN. LOOK ONLY AT THE TOP RIGHT PHOTO AND THEN CLOSE THE PAGE.

This post needs flashing alarm gifs. Do this at your own risk bubba.

Sometimes even typing a characters name into a google search bar will spoil some shit due to auto-complete suggestions though

Yeah, Google and Game of Thrones don't go well together.

Though it is pretty funny that if you type "winter" the first suggestion from autocomplete is "winter is coming".

The slaver cities were a tad silly, yes. But I have to admit that I'm a bid disappointed that the robe that left the other breast bare didn't make it in. I think it was the city Dany spent the last season in. Would've made it a lot better.

I got the sense that Dario joined her because he shares the same beliefs about slavery as her. He didn't like how that one guy was treating women, and told him as much.

Could be, I didn't necessarily get that from him but as I said he'll probably be more fleshed out later on.

Nope. It's garbage. 27 episodes in, she's still dicking around in the desert.

Exactly what sort of progress were you expecting in such a small timeframe?

She raised an army literally from nothing and she'll need a hell of a lot more than what she has now to invade the Westeros. Her dragons aren't completely grown yet, either.

My problem with dany is that everything comes to her so easily with no effort on her part.

Given to drogo who just so happens to turn out to love her and be the only nice dothraki in the world

Given dragon eggs that just hatch into dragons because she has magic targeryan blood

Given barristan selmy, aka TG Cid, just cuz joffrey was a bitch and he decided to go to the other side of the world.

Given free money and the greatest army ever because dragons

Given a whole new army because some dude thinks she's hot

And its all supposed to be accepted because she frees slaves so you have to say she's awesome and worthy

Good site! I have all the Amok art, it's amazing. If anyone wants better quality pics or a newer character not listed there, pm me and I'll link some.

yeah, some updated art would be good. I do like that persons art style as well. Sort of cheesy but at the same time seems to fit the fantasy era pretty well.

Another great episode. I didn't expect there to be a payoff for the obsidion this soon. You could see from the first glance of Daario how he was checking out Danny, so I didn't expect anything bad once he got the killing coin. The wedding was great and Tyrions threat to Joffrey was a real jaw dropper.

I can't wait for the next episode. The 2 week wait will be gruesome!

I actually followed the suggestion from Dave Inc. and was creating a comparison list for this thread sake. Thank god there was one already created.

Overall, I think the current cast represents better the personality of the characters, than most of the fan art.
For example, Theon looks way too "handsome" there.
55+-+Theon+Greyjoy.jpg

Jorah way too old+fat+bold, and unassuming
108+-+Jorah+Mormont.jpg

I'm perplexed about Barristan Selmy (Danny's 2nd counselor):

91+-+Barristan+Selmy.jpg

Wasn't he supposed to be a feared Knight / sword fighter? In that picture, he looks more like a Wizard!

You're assuming a handsome character has to be good?

Also, Selmy looks like that because, initially, he didn't tell Dany who he was on the books, as he wanted to make sure she was a good queen. In the show they revealed it right away cuz if you couldn't tell who he was, you wouldn't think the reveal would have any impact.

Remember that Dany comes form the true royal blood that was governing Westeros from a long time so if someone joins his army with an already large one its not really risking anything and have a lot to gain instead, also the money offering is a common thing there to get rid of raiders.

She also lost her husband, put up with a lot of shit from her brother, lost a lot of people in quarth, was almost assassinated, etc.
