Decent episode. Sam's a boring awful character so the climax sucked, and I wanted a lot more of Hound/Arya than we got, but Melisandre conniving is fun as is Tyrion threatening the King.

It absolutely 100% is

and these rules are so insanely easy to check they are literally a click away. stop shitting up a thread that has a very specific purpose by ignoring rules that you can check in 2 seconds, please.

though, there's really no point, the same stuff has happened each and every season with book readers leaving "subtle hints" or comparing plot points in here without spoiler tags. like, those are already against the rules, then not even putting those in is ridiculous. But yeah, it's happened every season and idk if mods really care any more and you all really don't seem to feel like stopping. why I rarely even check out the thread in the first place.

it's amazing how hard it is for them to understand. thanks for pointing it out again. maybe they'll stop shitting up the thread

They understand. People get off on posting hilariously witty hidden 'speculation' and hints. I.e. "Boy, Theon is such a cock." "Gotta hand it to Jaime, he's holding up well." "Careful what you wish for Tyrion."

On some other forums, this got so stupid that the admin literally had to say "If you are a book reader, do not post in this thread or you will be instantly banned."

It was the only way to keep it from happening, they just can't stop themselves, it's a stupid little thrill.

No new episode next week?

Nope. Holiday season. Back again next week.

I know, but it's the comparison shit too. I get that it's compelling discussion to compare differences and non-book readers may enjoy the knowing but it just doesn't belong here.

Meanwhile, Joffrey was being the worst. But all the actors love to say that the actor, Jack Gleeson, is the nicest person alive. Always "the nicest."
It's because he's the most polite, lovely, intelligent person in the whole cast! He's just so humble and everyone loves him. There's nothing anyone can say bad about Jack. He literally just turns it on. As soon as they go, "Action!" he goes from lovely Jack to the most sadistic, horrible creep on television. Between takes, we have lovely conversations. And that day, because the walking down the aisle took so long, we had to make our own entertainment and so we rapped a lot.
damn bro is good at acting then lol... also holy shit this thread has been hysterical... plywood dat gif thanks man so awesome :P

:( does anyone know if they will show all episodes for this season before the last ep I only have like 4 recorded on my dish DVR....

After this season i'ma going to watch every episode first to last... then a fucking YEAR wait :*(

Buy the DVD, it's worth it for the actors doing in-character narrations of Westeros history.

After this season is over, I'm off to read book 3, 4, and 5 throughout the rest of the year. Is there any point of reading book 2 at this point? I've heard that a few things from book 2 made it into this season, so perhaps there could be more?

I'd tell you, but it's not allowed. ;) You should read from book 1 though, seriously. Worth it.

Okay, but those artworks were drawn long before the TV show, so are obviously based on the books. You can certainly say "I prefer the way X looks in the show" (and in many cases I'd agree) but it just seems strange to say that the actors represent the characters better than those artworks, when those artworks were drawn long before the show being made was even considered...

Edit: It'd kinda be like saying Jean Claude Van Damme looks like a better Guile than the artwork... xD

Why should anyone in this thread care about how the characters were conceived in any medium outside of the TV show?

I'm looking at those cards and feel absolutely nothing. They don't at all seem to represent anything of the characters I've grown to love. They look like crappy generic drawings that I could easily forget and I'd never care if I ever see them again. I look at the characters on the TV show and see some of the most incredibly deep, well-realized characters I've ever seen in any TV show or movie.

Obviously anyone who read the books and saw those images first would have completely different connections. But you're in the wrong thread.

guys how do you watch seasons 1 and 2 on hbo go or can't you :/ just sign up for it ....

AWESOME never-mind I found it :O :P I haven't watched any season 1 ep's in two years I barely remember them

I've read book 1 already in preparation for season 1. I stopped there even though I already own book 2 and 3 on my Kindle. 1k in pages is daunting when I often spend free time with video games, movies, and marathoning TV shows on Netflix.

Also, did anyone else notice that Daario has a Dothraki sickle?

cMlIIuv.jpg
They ran out of props.

Seemed to foreshadow to me future conflict between him and Dany. Since Dany has a deep connection to the Dothraki, I'm guessing that she'll distrust him further since him having that weapon makes him appear to be someone who's killed Dothraki.

I didn't post the pics, someone else did after another one asked for them. I was just replying to someone who made what seemed to be a strange comment to me, but it was just a misunderstanding and we moved on so I don't even know why you're digging that back up. No need for this hostility.

And then we continue to get snide shitty comments about it from an "enlightened" book reader. SO fucking worthless
"Snide shitty comments"... WTF are you talking about mate? Seriously, the hell is your problem? O_o

Great episode. Tyrion continues to be the best dude in Westeros. It feels kind of weird that after Ned start was basically the protagonist and the first season set things up with Lannisters as the villains that the closest thing it has to a real protagonist that the majority root for is a Lannister. Sansa's pretty lucky in a way. I mean, I doubt Loras would have done anything to her, but Tyrion, I think, would protect her from anyone and anything.

Cersei's outright pissed and out for blood now. It'll be interesting seeing the fights between her and Margaery, and it'll probably be downright hilarious to see her marriage to Loras. Yikes.

It's nice seeing The Hound make the point to Arya that he really isn't even close to the worst. Arya's awesome and all, but she does have a lot of growing up to do. She needs to realize who to be angry at and wish to kill and who would be good allies. The Hound so far isn't a bad ally to have on such a quest. Her characterization is kind of odd now, though. The girl that ran blindly at him a few episodes would have, I think, taken the chance and hit him with the rock. I suppose maybe she is learning? I dunno.

Dany's story to me continues to be a bit more interesting than last season, but not quite as good as the first. Gonna be great to see Jorah's reaction to Daario, too, lol. I foresee a shit-fit.

And for Samwell, I found it great that he found what kills the White Walkers. I think it was near the beginning of this season or possibly last that I turned to my wife and said straight up "I bet Samwell turns out to be the key in saving them all. He's going to be some kind of crazy hero." It's hilarious that assessment might not be too far from the truth :P

I am confused i started to watch season one again and i have so many questions, if someone can help me with no book thingies my brain would feel better lol.

Who is the father of the blacksmith boy Gendry? on the 1st season they say Lord Arryn (i think), is that king Robert?

Robert said that the Targaryen killed someone on the Stark family, is that Ned sister Lyanna? and who did this Daenerys father? is Lyanna the mother of Gendry? was she married to Robert? haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! D:

Also rewatched the fight between Ned Stark and Jaime , and imo Ned is an awesome swordsman, he could have won that fight if were not for that cheap spear on the leg from the back.

And Loras won the joust against the mountain by cheating and using a horse in heat (said little finger i believe), then the mountain got mad and almost killed him but the hound saved sir Loras arse, so i don't think he deserves a spot on top swordsmans.

EDIT: and where are all the 40.000 Dothraki!!! there is none left! D:

Lord Arryn - hand of the king prior to Ned Stark - was the person who was looking into the accounts of the Baratheon line, and discovered then that all true born Baratheons have black hair. Same as Ned discovered. It was during this time Ned discovered Gendry was the bastard son of Robert Baratheon. Thus, he has king's blood in him.

Robert said that the Targaryen killed someone on the Stark family, is that Ned sister Lyanna? and who did this Daenerys father? is Lyanna the mother of Gendry? was she married to Robert? haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! D:

Lyanna Stark - Ned's sister - was kidnapped by Rhaegar Targaryen. It is this that partially led to Robert's Rebellion. Aerys II and Rhaella are Daenery's father - two characters of no real importance to our story I can see, other than they were Targaryens. All of this in HBO Game of Thrones supplemental material, by the way.

I wish they had better choreographed that fight scene, though. Was kinda amateur, could tell the show was starved for budget back then.

To expand on this, Aerys (commonly called "The Mad King") had Ned's father and older brother killed, which along with Lyanna's kidnapping lead Ned and Robert to rebel against the Targaryen rule.

AND he's the one Jaime Lannister ganked to become "The Kingslayer"

Couldn't have said it better myself. Nice response

Someone asked for a comparison between the characters as described in the books and as shown on screen and one was posted. Another poster then nonsensically decided to criticise the artwork for not matching up with the show, even though it's artwork based on the books and conversations with the author deliberately put side by side with shots of the characters as they appear in the show.

The combative 'us vs them' attitude over something as trivial as a TV adaptation of a book is just as pathetic as people posting spoilers or hinting at them.

Beren, watch these: these are the Blu-Ray extras and provide a ton of backstory concerning the Mad King and Robert's Rebellion. Plus they are narrated by the actors who play Robert and Tywin, among others :)

The Mad King and Robert's Rebellion

The Mad King part 2

Part 3

House Baratheon

There's a ton more out there.
Wow guys i won't be able to sleep lol! well i never do :p , ty very much and with spanish subtitles :D
EDIT: i will grab some food and watch these as if i were Bastian from neverending story :)

The episode was damn good.

  • Tyrion/Sansa went better than expected.
  • Joffrey still finds ways to be a dickhead.
  • No Jamie. :(
  • No Jon. :)
  • Sam is a dumbass for leaving the dagger.
  • I already like Daario, want to see him naked though.
  • Goddamn @ Melisandre's sex scene, she has to be the second hottest woman in the show (after Missandei, that is).
  • Drunken Tyrion had me worried a little, but it's apparently the only one able to stand up to Joffrey (no pun intended).

Selective quoting is fun.

EDIT: Moved to PM to not clog up the thread. Stand by my earlier statement that the us vs them mentality is just as bad as anyone posting spoilers. PLenty of book readers in this thread only answer questions or clarify backstory and do so using only material published by HBO.

Thank you for explaining it better than I could.

Agreed. There is no need for such hostility. Most book readers here are courteous, careful about spoilers and the thread's rules, and absolutely do not want to ruin the nonreaders's viewing experience. On the contrary, we are looking forward to reading the speculation, reactions, etc.

Fucking Sam... finally does something right then leaves the dagger behind. Amazing episode tho. I was thinking maybe Khaleesi had a no nudity clause in her contract since season 2 after season 1 became such a hit and she had some leverage. I don't recall her being nude at all in season 2.
