FFXIII would be cool on WiiU

Not a bad idea but the only way I see that working is a trilogy set. Most people already own 13 and 13-2 too so I do not see much of a market for it w/o LR included.

Would only make sense imo if it came as a trilogy. All three FFXIII games in a collection.
FFXIII is old and cheap now.

FFXII would probably work better. Having the map on the gamepad would be quite useful in that game, and perhaps the ability to edit gambits or use items during fights.

With a map on my tablet, I will never get lost in that game

I think they'd prefer to get 12 HD at this point. That game's battle system seems like it'd lend itself well to being adjusted via the Gamepad.

Came to say this. All 3 would actually make a decent collection. But knowing S-E, they would still probably cock it up somehow

I agree. This could be a pretty good idea. I'm going to put more thought into this and describe more systems in the game which could be implemented to provide a riveting experience for the gamer:

- Load online functions onto the Gamepad so the player can browse the internet, chat, or post on Twitter during the long cutscenes

- Implement motion controls for the Driving Mode in battles to make the summons feel more dynamic and intense

- Use the touch screen on the Gamepad to allow the player to plot routes on the maps for auto move

- As you said, allow the player to shift paradigms using the touch screen - but here's the icing on the cake - allow them to do that WHILE also browsing the internet, chating, or posting on Twitter on the same screen! Just have some overlay at the corner!

I'm sure the creative users here on NeoGAF can come up with many more great ideas, these are just a few suggestions to get the ball rolling!

The last thing the Wii U needs is another port that is several years too late. I can understand that maybe there are a few people out there that missed out on 13 (you didn't miss much) but I think it is safe to say that most people that had even a passing interest in purchasing Final Fantasy XIII probably found a way to play it sometime over the last 4 years.

And that isn't a direct criticism against Final Fantasy XIII or the Wii U specifically, I just don't see stuff like that as something that strengthens the game catalog or would be worth the development time. The Deux Ex release is already pushing it. It's hard to make the case for the Wii U as a new generation console when it keeps getting ports of games that came out several years ago on other systems, you know? Surefire way to bury the system is to keep up with those late ports. I'm sure companies will keep doing it because it's probably cheap and a way to get some extra cash out of work you did years ago, but the consumer perception of the system suffers heavily for it. Especially when all eyes are on the future right now. Getting remnants of the past is a poor way to go.

Getting the Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD release, now that would be something. Nostalgia, but new

See, this kind of effort is why people become Mods. Everyone else with their lazy ass pot shots need to learn from this and maybe we can start to make GAF a better place.
