Expect a whole lot of "we haven't finalized our policies" doubletalk until the Xbox Ones are already in stores and in people's hands and this is far more difficult to address as a legal matter. Then expect a bunch of filibustering by Microsoft's legal team with the assorted European courts as they feign ignorance of any wrongdoing and obstruct any formal investigation or ruling for months.
There's a ton of people in here blindly raging on this saying it's stupid that anyone thinks it's fair, or that people in here saying " ok" are idiots. The blind ragers are forgetting that this is introducing a method of digital copy resale!
although as part of the system the publisher of the title in question will automatically receive a percentage cut of the sale
Sounds good to me. I'm totally for this.
Average UK release = £40 (RRP 49.99)
Max discount - £4 ( or £4.99)
Activation fee £35
Does not compute.
49.99 games confirmed with a new fake RRP of £55.99
Edit : who the duck are consoledeals ?
What I could see happening is £35 activation fee if you sell to a friend - normal trade in if you go through a retailer ( ie no activation fee just the publisher/MS cut)
I know this is crazy, coming from me but I actually don't mind this. However the problem I have is that you have to connect to the Internet once every 24 hours, I think they need to extend that to once every week.
Everyone wins except of the customer who will receive even less money from Gamespot for their used games? Who can no longer sell his game on ebay or Amazon?
Not to mention that even retailers don't win. The big chains benefit of it and the last few remaining local stores can face their local death. Great.

A popular way to get rid of old games in Australia is to donate to a childrens hospital
Sorry kids, Microsoft fucked you over this time (this is a disgrace in itself)
Same with their comments about the troops. Sony really should hit them hard in the US on that
"oh hey your a soldier? buy a 360"
how about FUCK OFF. Those soldiers risk their lives daily so you fuckheads can sit in an office making shit house decisions that destroy consumer rights.
quite amazing really.
They really have given sony a softball here to knock out of the park
Also, it makes more sense that a digitally downloaded game can't be resold or lent out to a friend. I was going to buy retail all gen because I'm a collector and like to lend out games to friends. The difference is, Steam will most assuredly give us cheaper prices on new games and online is free.
When did you see this happen? I just checked Madden 09 on 360[/url on Amazon marketplace...I have seen morons in Gamestops selling their Madden '08's and '09's for $0.25, yes FUCKING $0.25
They could get $5, hell $10, if they get lucky on other places that cater to second hand sales
You don't need to introduce a method of digital copy resale to a physical copy. They are trying to turn a physical copy into a digital copy, and that's not a good thing.
And i have heard nothing about being able to resell an actual digital copy of an Xbone-game.
Makes sense.
Sounds good.

What I don't get is why people are saying that this is going to COMPLETELY and unequivocally kill the amount of money we get back from retailers for used games.
I'm sure there will be multiple retailers in the program. Yes, I understand resale value will likely go down, but nobody can say with certainty that they will hit rock bottom. Retailers compete against each other too.
Just my thoughts.
What country do you live in?Wow. This whole thing is a big drama about nothing. You can still trade shit in.
A lot of people look kinda silly.
Microsoft is going to curry favor with the armed forces by getting the US military hooked up with Internet hotspots and free Xbones at military outposts so the Internet hangup isn't an issue.Same with their comments about the troops. Sony really should hit them hard in the US on that

Wow. This whole thing is a big drama about nothing. You can still trade shit in.
A lot of people look kinda silly. Nice to see the goalposts being moved to "oh I can't sell to WHOEVER I want" now.
I'm expecting MS finalizes this system as they already have been talking to resellers and retailers about it. You're blowing this way out of proportion.
You do realize that people who sell their games do end up buying more games for it, correct?although as part of the system the publisher of the title in question will automatically receive a percentage cut of the sale
Sounds good to me. I'm totally with this.
and my point about giving kids hospitals free games? still fucked.
Wow. This whole thing is a big drama about nothing. You can still trade shit in.

So what? Who lends £40 discs to get scratched to fuck anyway?
I can't donate my old games to the kids hospital
THAT SHIT IS FUCKED
Soldiers can't play their games on campus. THAT SHIT IS FUCKED.
Microsoft has said the soldiers should get 360s instead of actually giving a fuck about those who risk their lives daily. It's crazy. and in a patriotic nation like the US its insanity
In the last 7 years I rented one game and borrowed one game from a friend, which I ended up not playing anyway. For me personally, this policy doesn't bother me.
Yeah because that's what people have been opposed to. Not being able to give their games away to kids. That was the outrage.
Why can't soldiers just download the games they have tied to their accounts?

Pretty much exactly what I and a couple of other posters were suggesting in another thread. Not code based though by the sounds of it.
I buy / sell around 80% of my used games through ebay which I guess is boxed out of this system. So yea...fuck you MS.
internet connectivity in afghanistan is fucked perhaps?

I never sell my games anyway. This still restricts me lending my games to friends, which was my whole problem with the situation. You're essentially defending them for giving you crumbs when for years you've been getting the whole loaf of bread.Wow. This whole thing is a big drama about nothing. You can still trade shit in.
