Still too many unanswered questions about PS4 that could kill the hype...

Will Sony include the PSEye with every PS4?

How much RAM, how many CPU Cores, how much GPU resources will the OS use?

Used games? Always online?

I don't think that the PSEye will be standard. Sony is giving far more importance to other features. They're even including a headset in every console unlike Microsoft. They're betting on social features and having access to different kind of contents seamlessly. They have also added extra features on the controller while Microsoft left their controller pretty much as it was.
The camera so far has been treated like an add-on which will be probably used to differentiate the entry level SKU which will be as cheap as possible from the fully featured model with a bigger hard drive.
About RAM so far we know that 1GB of memory is reserved for the OS.
The system won't be always online, they said they didn't even take that thing in consideration.
Used games won't be blocked at a system level but publishers will be able to implement different measures to 'protect themselves' if they wish that way. Realistically offline passes (but not with the cost of the full game LOL).

sounds good, i hope this is all true

M0dus doesn't work for Sony. His tag is related to a awesome ND collaboration he did.

That said the consensus I'm getting from people is Sonys E3 will be one to remember.

Hopefully they are right

Hopefully "one to remember" means good memories and not bad. The PS3s unveiling was one to remember too but not in a good way :P
Im mostly kidding. Im really stoked for E3 and really hopeful that Sony makes up for what has been a shitty week in gaming.

Showing The Last Guardian will instantly win me over.

All Sony has to do is show footage of all that PS3 vaporware that we had only now on PS4 WITH DEFINITIVE RELEASE DATES and they will be golden.

It will be way better than the last couple of E3s which were boring as shit.

I remember GopherD saying that Sony and it's first parties were ready for war .
Either way good or bad this E3 will be one to remember and the hype going to be crazy .

I think the PSEye will be standard. If it's not standard it will get terrible support and be nearly useless, and I think Sony realizes this. Additionally it's actually pretty cheap tech. It would be a classic Sony fuck up if they didn't make it standard.

There's no question this year's E3 is going to be entertaining on so many levels. Even if it's a complete disaster for both Microsoft and Sony, I'll still be chompin' away on my popcorn, loving every minute of it.

When the Gopher speaks the possums should listen.

The two companies' idea of 'going hard' and 'being ready for war' is very interesting.

That Sony opened with Knack in terms of game footage is both telling and mysterious. Telling because they fundamentally believe in the "Playstation" / "PS3"+"PS4"+"Vita" split personality system where characters can become IP. They fundamentally believe in the permeability of intellectual property, which is one of Sony' strengths I guess. It leads both to fantastic well-funded best-practice game design and horrendous corporate shitwheels like All-Star Battle. Mysterious because as a trailer and concept, it didn't pitch itself squarely anywhere - not at young kids, not at teenagers, not at Pixar audiences. It needed a rousing, more sweeping trailer to be Pixar fodder, I feel. But it was so good to open with that - new console, new characters.

Microsoft's version is to have a flat tableau of genres at equivalent production value. That is, to make the platform of the system seem to have an equivalent look and feel across genres as much as possible - to make games act and react more like television. This is compelling too - seeing how they position the post-Avatar Kinect titles with or without rare, how they do fitness games, how they see casual kids games, how they see adventure / action. For market leaders, we know precious little of what MS is thinking about their game library.

I'm totally shocked that neither consoles has moved to port iOS and Android games to the big screen in a concentrated way. I thought that was going to be the HUGE thing this time around. A montage of Plants V Zombies, Angry Birds exclusive games, Cut the Rope, Words With Friends etc. As a action+speed oriented gamer, I think this needs to happen - because those games can push platforms and game design to bigger and bigger audiences than anything consoles have.

So.... Will we see any surprises at this show? All the game we currently know of would make a pretty packed e3 show. I mean we have.

Killzone
DriveClub
Knack
Infamous Second Son
GT6
Final Fantasy __
Deep Down
Watch dogs / Assassins Creed 4
Diablo 3
Destiny

And rumoured safe bets at showing up are

The Last Guardian, Planetside 2 and SSM's new IP

Then you add vita stuff which is a complete mystery outside of sequels to launch games and its pretty packed but also lacks that "oh wow" moment. I wonder if they have any secret 3rd party things coming up or new second party signings? I hope so. I hope they dont coast through e3.

I hope not. The silence is deafening though. Either they are or they're going to make a huge deal about keeping it free at E3.

I can see online play staying free but streaming and some other features being behind a paywall.

We already know that the console won't require an internet connection and that the Eye is entirely optional but I think they'll include it just to make it seem like they have feature parity with XBO.

Rumors have been saying 1GB RAM and GopherD heard less than 1 core from the CPU for the OS.

Used games is my only concern but I'm doubting it'll be something mandatory or even anything at a system level. Publishers will probably be free to do whatever they want with it.

They could literally just show Versus/FFXV and then shit all over the stage for the rest of the conference, and it would still be one of my favorite E3 showings ever. I have blue balls for this game so hard it's unhealthy.

That being said I'm expecting a pretty stacked conference overall. A TLG appearance in addition to Versus would make my life.

Serious question, why would anyone be hyped for a game that's based on Final Fantasy 13? Am I missing something?

Versus isn't based on FFXIII. It's an ARPG from the Kingdom Hearts team set in a modern era fantasy world. It only had XIII in the title because of the Fabula Nova Crystalis stuff but that's likely been dropped.

Even if it increases the price a little bit I think Sony should include the PS Eye with every PS4.

It's the only way to ensure that devs develop games with interesting PS Eye features as a standard like they are going to do with the Xbone and Kinect.

If the Eye is optional devs are just not going to bother with it like they do with the current version of the PS Eye and the PS3.

Sony should either include it in every box or forget about it at all.

It's based on the background mythology and themes of FFXIII, which were actually very well done. FFXIII's problem was more on the execution of those themes, with subpar script writing and a bunch of poor game design decisions. However, Versus has a different staff, including a different (and proven) scenario writer and a different director. In addition, the most recent trailer (over 2 years old now), looked pretty great, even though it was clearly still rough around the edges in parts -- but that's expected from a game that was early in development.

you don't know anything about the game, that much is clear. People need to realize that first of all, square has many employees. Some of the people working on this have worked on the best FF games as well. Secondly they're totally different, they just share some lore details or some shit. Thirdly, go watch gameplay trailer ???? profit. Get hyped.

His comment is one reason why they have to change the name. Too many people think that it has a heavy connection to XIII when it doesn't.

If the Last Guardian and Final Fantasy are shown then Microsoft is going to have a really rough time. Especially if Naughty Dog makes any sort of PS4 appearance. That's not even counting Santa Monica and I'm almost positive they'll be there.

I still think there's an outside chance that Agent might be there. That would be pretty fucking insane. Because up to this point people have said that it is vapor ware.

When talking about Somnus the Theatrhythm producer said last year that Versus was still part of FNC. There's no reason to drop the FNC aspect, and right now it's going to be the base for the story. It all depends on how it's executed.

Unless you're just talking about the XIII in the title.

After seeing Media Molecule's presentation i'm on a 80-20 split that they will include the camera and one move controller with the console. No point having one of your most successful devs releasing a game that will not be able to be played without the further purchase of a peripheral (on top of the actual purchase of the game). Bundling it with the game acts as a barrier to entry - since it will likely increase the cost
