Your Realistic Expectations for Final Fantasy Versus XIII (FFXV) E3 Showing

A trailer that's a few minutes long, and it ends with a release window (Summer 2014 Worldwide) and platforms (PlayStation 3 and 4).

EDIT: And it's still a Kingdom Hearts-esque Action-RPG.
 
I don't know how to have a "realistic" expectation for this title other than "it will be mentioned," but I'm hoping it will be a PS3/PS4 multiplat with a 2013 December JP release and Spring 2014 in NA. Hopefully there will be a trailer. I'm guessing that the CG/cutscene work is the one thing in this title that would have carried over to future incarnations, so they'll probably mostly show that. Although the last trailer did show gameplay.
 
They are absolutely not going to re-brand it as XV. A cross-gen title (from an assets and production value point of view) as a mainline FF is not going to cut it. It will disappoint on so many levels.

Agni's Philosophy tech demo is now out there - give me that level of production values or fuck off. I don't want another VII HD remake broken dream.

This makes no sense, they've already revealed Versus gameplay in trailer form before, why would they have only a logo to show for it?

They're fully aware people have been wanting new information for years now, Versus demand is second only to FFVII remake demand - if it's there, they will not disappoint with what they show.

To be fair to Square they never promised a game of FFVII HD, much like Agni it was always showcased as a tech demo not a teaser for a future game release.

That would really be cruel of them and rub alot of fans the wrong way. Multi-platform is one thing but to deny it's original audience the game. Hell yeah I'd boycott that shit. I'd pick up the soundtrack and be done.
 
Great responses so far!

It seems most expect a 2014 release and a good long trailer. I have to say that this is what I mostly expect too. The Roen "typo". The Noctis merchandise releasing a few days after E3. It's all lining up. Best to taper our expectations but this is the most "real" evidence we have of the game in the last two years. And it all points to this years Electronic Entertainment Expo.
 
I don't know how realistic it would be to expect the rumors of Sony codeveloping it, but that's what I'm hoping to happen. The thought of a fully optimized final fantasy on PS4 just gets me so excited!
 
It'll come out for both Xbox One and PS4, it'll have exclusive DLC side story mission for the Ps4, and it'll be massively downgraded in scope and ambition
 
After what they did to FXIII I don't trust them to know their Versus from their XV. I do expect a real time scripted event punctuated with hints of gameplay (when the help option isn't popping up every minute).

Yeah because great games are all about graphics....and XIII is more worthy than Versus, hahaha!

"Final Fantasy "VERSUS XIII" pre-production began almost 4 years ago. The reason why its taken so long is due to a number of things, including manpower/resources being re-allocated to help finish Crystal Tools, work on FFXIV's re-working and work on the Luminous Engine. The game is NO LONGER AN ACTION-RPG. Its more in-line with traditional Final Fantasy and has been described to me as a combination of FFXII and the Classic ATB. seen in the older games. Still a Playstation 3 exclusive (you can thank/hate Sony for that) and is slated to release this Winter in Japan and North America (sorry Europe.) The game being shown for PS4 is NOT FFVXIII. Voice Recording sessions for the Japanese version have been happening in waves for awhile now, and actually finished up last month. Sessions for the English voice cast are slated to start sometime in July, although some work is being done in advance preparation for the E3 Trailer."

I thought it was considered BS. Guess we shall see soon enough.
 
I just hope for more characters than the 4 guys. If it's a 3 party system I'm guessing there's 2 more. Probably that girl and one more.

Generally I'd agree but Nomura can actually design fun games, as proved by the KH series. There's def room for more optimism on Versus' success rate.

Three scenario's in my opinion.

A: Trailer for the game is shown, either CG, story and or gameplay. Coming to PS3 and PS4 2014
B: Trailer is shown like above. Coming to PS4 2014.
C: Trailer is shown like above. Coming to PS4 and Xbone 2014.

I don't see them releasing two mainline FF titles in the same year. My gut is telling the game will be nothing like i imagine it, in the most negative way possible. I think the game will be of the same quality as FFXIII/XIII-2. Which means it will suck. Hope i am wrong, hell, i would love to be wrong.
 
Well if it does show up at E3 (which I'm not putting my hopes up for) I would want to see more gameplay, hopefully a change to the PS4, and just plain more info on what its about. All I know so far is that its a story about who rules over the crystals or something (last time I saw this game was... I can't even remember just don't expect me to remember the story).

Also I hope they didn't change anything. I like all the character designs, the graphics looked amazing, and the gameplay looked very fun.
 
I expect it to be announced for PS4, but that's about it. I can't get hyped at possibilities anymore. They need to show it. And I mean the actual game, as it's being played. Not a logo. Not another non-committal verbal promise, but the actual game.

If they get up on Sony's stage with a logo and say " Get ready for for TGS!" they're wasting everyone's time. Sony, the fans, the media, themselves; everyone.

That's really where I'm at with Versus in a nutshell: Show it or don't. Put up or shut up.
 
I'll morph into a doppleganger of Kagari's dog, replace him/her, bark loudly and pee in the potted plants if XV isn't shown.
 
I'm expecting a new trailer filled with nothing that resembles gameplay employing the Luminous engine.
The game will be cross-gen for PS3/PS4 and we'll get a new flashy redone FFXV logo.

We'll be lucky if we hear anything more about this game by E3 2014.
