Possible tease from the voice of Ryo Hazuki (Shenmue)

I actually wouldn't mind Shenmue III on Wii U, since I actually have one. A few months ago I'd have preferred a next-gen version, but with the way that's going I expect I won't have a PS4 or Xbone, so eh.

All I really want from the franchise at this point is a HD port of Shenmue I & II on PC. Two of my favourite games ever, and they're locked to consoles. I want to be able to play them forever.

I loved the original Shenmue like a son. Shenmue 2 disappointed somewhat. But I would TOTALLY be up for another. Haters be damned.

They can leave that faux-fast travel shit out, this time. That ruined 2.

According to neogaf user Verendus, Sega is prepping two titles for PS4 (I think he said they were exclusive). Apparently Sony let the new Sonic go for a new project...

Shenmue 3

funded by Nintendo

Wii U exclusive

could you fucking imagine the salt

Everyone knows how I feel about the Wii U, but if Shenmue III was announced as an exclusive for it I'd buy one in a heart beat.

I'd just be happy it’s alive....and I'm sure any other Shenmue fan will agree with me. I'd buy it on anything damn it! ANYTHING!

Oh god, I can't imagine the fanboy rage if Wii U ended up with both Bayonetta 2 AND Shenmue 3 as exclusives.

Guy is probably voice acting one of the shitty villain buddies in the new Sonic game.

Wii U is the only thing that makes sense - because why other would they release Yakuza 1 and 2 (which practically encourages you to buy a PS3 because they will never be able to port Yakuza 4 and 5 to Wii U)

Yakuza is like a mafia version of Shenmue, I don't know why more people do not realize this

Shenmue 3 is an astonishingly easy game to make happen; Sony, MS or Nintendo simply have to apply a large amount of money to Sega.

It'd certainly create a buzz, problem is whether anyone thinks it'd make a profit

Vita wouldn't surprise me.

It could be that big Vita game people were talking about. It's a niche title but a certain amount of the core audience would go ape-shit for it. Mainline Yakuza games on PS3/PS4.. Shenmue on the Vita. I think that makes the most sense (although I'd love to see Nintendo funding it for Wii U). Of course it could be crossplay for the Vita, PS3 and PS4.

Here is what he said:

Here's a little tidbit for you, Sony turned this (new Sonic game) down for something else. I think this is a really impressive move from Nintendo though, and they've obviously gone even further in securing future prospects. It'll go a long way in building the Wii U identity. I know some folks are laughing saying Sonic doesn't sell millions, but I think Nintendo should be focusing on the larger collection of quality titles to make the system appealing. This is a step in the right direction.

Something else from Sega. New project.

You're right, he's not. There are dedicated people at SCE who handle that. This was probably just a friendly encounter since they know each other. However, SCE has been talking with Sega about exclusive games for over a year now. They have 2 games in the works currently for PS4.

So who is this Verendus guy and why whould I take his word for granted?

Also, it seems like the voice acting photo is just a new avatar he picked and the SEGA photo is the photo he picked for the header on his Facebook page. I wouldn't take it as a tease.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
I will honestly buy a Wii U the day after Shenmue 3 is announced for it.

However, it probably has to do with a port of the Dreamcast game to PC/XBLA/PSN.

I would be quite disappointed if they'd even fail to announce two half-decent HD remasters of the first two games this year with all the previous news about pending PSN and XBL releases. Maybe they figured they could put in some more effort rather than doing a crappy port?
(Here's hoping the data from those games will carry over to the eventual part 3 and up.)

If they have a bleeding edge next-gen Shenmue III right at the time of either the PS4 or Xbox One presentations, I would not need to hear any other game related news this year.
But like always, prepare to be disappointed and then some more...
