In Japan, you run faster if you don't use your arms. I think it has to do with the high humidity level and drag?

Attention passengers, the hype train has left the station and will arrive in the boulevard of broken promises and crushed dreams in the next 6 months.

Please keep your seatbelts fastened and refrain from overhyping to prevent serious disappointment.

When reached your destination, a sister train will collect you to return you back to point A where you will eventually embark on another broken journey.

Thank you for riding with Hypetrains Ltd. and we hope you enjoy every minute of it.

Sonic X-treme Galaxy!? This is the first sonic game I've been excited about since Sonic Adventure on the dreamcast. It looks to have a lot more platforming elements as opposed to the 'push forward to win' gameplay of all 3d Sonics to date.

Gameplay looks interesting, but I find the game's graphics quite disappointing. I think both Sonic Generations and Sonic Unleashed look waaaaay better, even being aware of the artistic differences between those games and this one.

Uh, wow. The Sonic Xtreme meets Mario Galaxy comparisons are spot on.

I can't tell if I'm just seeing wrong or not, but is that the figure 8 running animation I see halfway through the trailer?

I really wonder what crazy level design ideas could be implemented. Exciting stuff!

Yes someone screen capped it a few pages back, figure 8 back from Sonic CD.

I know everyone else has already said it, but Sonic X-treme Lives! Seriously though, looks good, I'm just a tad worried about levels being linear...but this is only first footage of the first level and hopefully when more is shown, multiple paths will appear.

Yep, the Figure-8 is back.

Strange how so much better Sonic looks with that when running in 3D.

They're trying something new, which is always nice. I hope it pays off for them, as it looks good so far.

I also think there's a higher chance of other playable characters with this style. It's not as exclusive to Sonic as the Unleashed/Colours Generations style was.

Never cared much for sonic but I think i'll be jumping on this.
Sonic Galaxy looks good to me and I think there's enough time to where the cmaera won't be a problem.

Dat perspective o_o

I thought Colors was a crappy game though, and I've never played generations other than the demo. I'll check it out though.

Presence of badniks more or less confirm Eggman's presence you'd think. Three-way fight between Sonic, Eggman and The Deadly Six would be interesting.

It looks interesting for sure. I'm hoping it runs at 60 fps 'cuz the visuals look quite a bit less impressive than Generations.

Sonic was always fast, but it was never fast for the sake of being fast. A lot of the times (especially in later levels) it would be a steady but cautious progression because running at breakneck speeds would often end with a spike, enemy or some other hazard that would stop you. Speedy gameplay came from an understanding of the level, its paths, and the enemy layouts so you could attempt to blaze through something in a matter of seconds/minutes. They have definitely taken steps to have a good compromise of both with recent games.

That's the point I was making, I feel that by going back and slowing gameplay, that they ruin that compromise of fast response/trial and error gameplay. Part of 3D Sonic is to reach full speed and master the stages at it to get the best ranking.

Perfect. I love Arale.

Aaand the 3d sonic are full of neck breaking speedy parts where you barely touch the controller at all.

The speed is fine.

What are you talking about? You got to hold Boost just to reach those speeds, and react precisely with the platforming. Along with using the drift mechanics (Especially in Unleashed, Generations is waay much more forgiving). You're not one of those people who sprout nonsense about 3D Sonic being automated are you?

The new interactions may be a greater improvement hopefully but for now until new videos and demo releases I have my doubts.

Color is great here but everything just looks so blocky, basic and empty. Maybe it has to do with the flow of the game and level design but until we know more I'm disapointed with the graphics too.

Gameplay is really going somewere, though.

Watching the trailer again, it's obvious the game looks way worse visually than Sonic Generations and even Sonic Unleashed. WTF?

Looks like it was done by the Sonic Colors team.

Which is the same as the Generations team as far as I know.

I'm getting Sonic Xtreme vibes...

That's what I thought too.

Sonic XTreme meets Mario Galaxy. The trailer actually makes it look like a game and not something conjured up by creepy Sonic fanfiction Deviant Art users, which is good. But then again, that's how the Sonic cycle always starts.

The bad guys look a little out of place though.

I'm honestly okay with the graphics being tone down in favor of 60fps. Although it does look to be a bit too simple just for the sake of that framerate, I wonder if it's just a stylistic choice.

It really is, the only good thing about that mess is its soundtrack, yeah I don't get SonicGaf obsession over it either.

Dunno about you but I had a lot of fun with that game so whateva

The IGN guy mentioned there would be more later today. I wonder if they got some hands-on time with this or something?

Maybe just a press release with more info.

I would say that the villains do sorta-kinda look like DeviantArt self inserts.

I for one am happy to see more simplistic backgrounds and level geometry, you know why? This likely means they'll be able to competently develop more stages than before when the primary focus of Unleashed and Generations was to create the most beautiful looking stages possible. Not that they weren't fun games, but the majority of their budget obviously went into making each and every section of every level as beautiful as possible, making it difficult for them to create more than 18 stages.

This time around, I'm hoping that the more simplistic looks works out in our favor so that there can be more than one or two acts per "World", ala Colors. Since there are presumably 6-8 worlds indicated by the amount of guardians (I say 6-8 because there are 6 guardians, plus one final world, plus Green Hill which might be an introductory level before Sonic sets out to the 'Lost World'), I'm hoping that there will be more than two acts per world.

tl;dr The less detailed environments could be a good thing because it allows the developers to create more levels.

Infinity sign*

Which is like a mobius strip, which makes since considering Sonic CD's time travel mechanic.

Got my Genesis A/V cables in the mail today. Combine that with this trailer and my day is pretty much made. GO SONIC!

This will definitely be one of my Wii U purchases.

WOW! Brand new formula! Very interested in this, was sure it was going to be 'GOTTA GO FAST' all over again but no!
