Sonic Lost Worlds Debut Trailer [Up: Wii U + 3DS screenshots]

Puppeteer, Rayman Legends, 3D Mario WiiU, Tearaway, and Sonic Lost World all release this holiday season.

Think about that for a second.
Likely only going to have enough money to buy one of those titles anyways. If I do I'll definitely pick up another. I haven't seen the new Mario yet but there's already money down for it

I am so excited right now for this game, that it's making me buy a Wii U and the only thing I can do now, is put a gif out that describes my excitement.

That gif is amazing.

Reading these reactions, it looks like it was a smart exclusive to have. Any chance Nintendo is involved in the development?

It doesn't look much better than galaxy. Maybe it started out as a 3DS game and nintendo asked them for a wii u version.

Yeah, the Galaxy style seems to fit pretty poorly with the green hill patterns. Not feeling this at all. Even Colours impressed me graphically on the Wii, while this has really been disappointing for now. I was hoping Sonic Team would finally be the first to make some stunning looking game with the additional power of the WiiU, not one that looks inferior to both of it's predecessors.

I thought graphically they would build on what they've started with the daytime Unleashed levels and Generations, which are still pretty stunning, but instead it's some... okay-ish Galaxy clone. :( Even the legitimately good Sonic games lately don't compare to Mario gameplaywise anyway, so usually they make up with great production values (and sountrack). Not seeing this here... I just hope it gets better with other stages.

What? What does Mario have to do with anything?

nintendo could've had a role in creating this game and as such they would've not done so had the next mainline Mario game been another game attempting to do the Galaxy-style gameplay yet again. i was arguing for awhile that the next major Mario game was going to be another Galaxy game and they were going to try to do a Luigi's Galaxy. if they created an engine capable of producing games that could pull multiple 98s on metacritic with huge sales and those games could've been fully created with only designers - no need for a heavy use of programming talent, it would be a waste of resources not to take advantage of the opportunity that creates. however, yet another Mario Galaxy 3 would have started to wear out their welcome which is why I think that Luigi's Galaxy would've been a smart alternative. this game shows that they may have actually taken that direction somewhere i didn't even think about - using it as leverage to reach out to third-parties and get product exclusivity

Kinda confirms 3D Mario won't be Galaxy again imo.

Not to mention they generally go with New Console = New Mario
Yeah, they did two Galaxy games on one system. That is the first time one machine got two flagship Marios. Why would they do it again? They'll probably make a Mario that really uses the Wii U screen.

Now THIS is more like it! Hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more levels (there weren't that many in Generations since they had two sets of gameplay.) this time around, cause this looks awesome!

SMB 1, SMB 2 SMB 3 - All on NES.

But yeah, the next game will probably be a total departure from the Galaxy platforming style. Nintendo wouldn't want to publish two similar games so close together.

In Japan, you run faster if you don't use your arms. I think it has to do with the high humidity level and drag?

The character in the gif you quoted just likes to stick her arms out to the side and run while making airplane noises =P

I still find the arm thing weird, but this is the first time I've seen someone propose an actual explanation other than it looks cool.

Whoops! I missed that joke!

I wish I knew the real reason.

Visually, I like the aesthetics.

Technically it looks like an HD 3DS game with more polygons.

Hope it plays well.

Also hope, after seeing this and that Olympic games title, the upcoming Nintendo first party games look good. I mean, better than 360/PS3, good.

Didn't think of much of this when the game was originally announced but after seeing the trailer I've pretty stoked to see what becomes of this. Sonic Generations and Colors were great games so I'm not worried about SEGA failing to deliver on the gameplay mechanics now.

Hopefully we don't see any wonky gimmicks or the annoying side characters to bog the experience down.

Easy to see Nintendo's influence on the project too though the Sonic Xtreme comparisons can easily be drawn as well. I wonder if SEGA came to Nintendo with the concept to see if they could find a way to make that work?

Man an exclusive Sonic game appearing on a Nintendo console around the same time as a new 3D Mario platformer? I think 10 year old me just had a heart attack over the notion.

The (super sayan) gif creator needs to show more.

It might be too much for me too, especially if it's decently challenging. I was leaning towards resisting Wii U for a while to save up for PS4 (and a vita+ ps3 replacement :/ :/).

Sonic + Mario = hugely vulnerable to an impulse purchase, especially if the money is available.

Man I'm glad this didn't turn out to be an adventure game but more classic platforming goodness. Galaxy type levels might make it pretty interesting too, they certainly look cool to see:

(beermeister gifs iirc):

This looks incredible! Sega finally included parcours in Sonic and level design is pretty incredible! Let's hope Sonic controls better than a 10 pound bag of potatoes, especially in 3D sections!

It is times like these I'm glad I jumped on the Wii-U at launch so I don't have to suddenly scramble to get one once the games start to arrive.

Hopefully with Nintendo involved we'll get a decently challenging Sonic title. Looking at what little gameplay was shown here there is definitely plenty of room for that and I can't wait to see more.

Now June 11th needs to get here so we can see what is going on with the new Mario!

Also sorry to here about the Vita and PS3 replacement, never fun to replace something like that.

Some observations:

What do the bells do? Do they somehow make it possible to make this 200mph 90 degree turn?

Starposts come in both 2D and 3D varieties (2D here). Chemical Plant speedboosters (over)abound. This one especially seems pointless.

Why we got sheep? Do they have something to do with the bells?

Snail Blaster from Sonic 3 makes his 3D debut.

What do these blue diamonds do? Laser? What's that thing glittering atop that tree in the distance on the left side?

What's this thing that pops out of the ground and bounces Sonic onto the wall?

What's that thing on top of the cliff on the right? (update) Gold cannon.

What's this orange thing that flies across the screen?

Red star ring at the top of the screen.

Wisps return for some reason. Here is a laser wisp in a container.
