La Tacopedia is out. Well, kind of. If you can find it here in the States. And it's exactly what the title infers: an epic, thoroughly researched encyclopedia about regional Mexican tacos. Five years of research to be exact. And in an attractive, very contemporary Lucky Peach-ish layout. If you don't already know how to read and write Spanish, now might be a good time to learn. Not just to get better service and look legit when ordering your next dohs tahcos de asahda con tohdo, but to read every single page of this book. Since, for now, it's only available in Spanish.

Since you’re probably straining your eyes to decipher the regions and dishes included on this map, we’ve listed a dish from each region below—accompanied by our best guess at an English translation.

Aguascalientes - tacos mineros (miner’s tacos)
Baja California - tacos de langosta con frijoles (lobster and bean tacos)

I always order one with my order from every taco place I go to. My mom doesn't make it so I get it every chance I get.

My parents are from Puebla but they've never made mini-tacos either.

Best thing about Mexican tacos are the different type of toppings. I feel a lot of US places cheap-out on salsas and other toppings, especially guacamole. For example at some places you can beans and cactus. I also miss tacos made with a flour tortilla.
