MS marketing director: "We are going to kill Sony at E3!"

KONSOLE KOMBAT!

I think they've reorganized their strategy. They've underestimated the will and power of the most stable install base, the core gamers and now they're just putting out fires.

No doubt they'll have amazing games, I still hope for a proper sequel. Hope.

First they design a console now one wants and then they buy all the games so that no one wants the competition either.

And we know Sony is stupid enough to let MS do it. They let Nintendo kill them in Jspsn (letting their only system seller switch to the 3DS).

EA seems to be onboad with Microsoft. I was interested in Mirror's Edge 2 even though EA. But since I will not buy an xbone I will pass on that. Wonder what else will be excusive to the xbone. CoD, BF, Madden, Fifa aren't (though my interest in those is not high, maybe I give FIFA 15 a try).

I don't expect anything interesting from MS itself.

Reeks of arrogance...but not unlikely. Going by rumors, they've secured some solid Third-Party games, and they've massively expanded their internal studios (23 studios in total, that's 10 more than Sony!). I think their show will be spectacular...

Too bad Microsoft's studios are ALL SHIT. They fired off their great studios and what they have now is just a bunch of rank amatuers. I wouldn't trust it. Plus they're probably all Kinecting to Microsoft's wallet. Not any actual real games going on.

I'm a total nerd for competitive shooters, and MS largely has that market locked down. And, in general, I prefer their first party offerings to Sony's. So, I expect skipping the Xbox One to be a bit of a painful choice for me.
I can absolutely understand that, I'm just personally disappointed by the effort MS did these past 2-3 years regarding games I'm interested in.

It seems like Sony's ghost from 2006 is still alive with the only difference being that Sony had actually dominated the market in the two previous gens while MS came third and lost to a console that launched one year later and at 599$.

I really hope they deliver though,it would be bad for us consumers if one console manufacturer dominates this gen.
Personally though i can't get excited about any of the games both Sony and MS will show if they don't clear their shitty DRM strategies (and other things) first. At this point i'm more excited to see what Nintendo has to offer for the Wii U.

Yes that PS2 was horrible.

>.> WTF you talking about

I think the era of third party exlusives has ended, and both companies know that they have to substitute the with games of their own. I'm pretty sure we've only seen the tip of the iceberg on both sides.

E3 of the forever comfirmed...again!

Do what you have to MS, but don't make Mirror's Edge 2 Xbone exclusive, at least allow a PC version, because I won't buy your console for this as long as you keep your foolish policies in place.

I think thus far they've been really good at killing themselves. Games or not, they have a lot of issues to face.

And unless they can let go of their greed, they are not going to be killing anyone.

timed exclusives, that works out nicely since the devs get extra time to polish up graphics and nice rendering features for PS4.

Well, as i said in the past, it would certainly be bad if Sony had nothing much than what they already showed, in term of games, apart from multi titles.

If their conf begins, and they're showcasing Drive Club and Knack like crazy, it will feel like something is slightly wrong. Cause as good and charming those titles are, they are certainly not the ones who will make the PS4 a great success.

Now, in the same way, if Microsoft focus on DLC and dogs..

oop.

They did the exact same thing last gen. Making your own 1st party games>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Timed 3rd party exclusives which will have a superior version down the line on PS4. They need to really invest in making 1st party games PERIOD not just 8-9 games for the console launch but throughout the whole gen.

wut. you think the only one out of the 3 with more first party offerings/IPs than the others wont show anything compared to the one that for the past 3 years had the least exclusives??

All hardcore gamers will still buy Xbone just for the games.

Kill Sony at E3.

Backwards compatability is backwards.

Rocket science level stuff.

Infinite power of the cloud.

300,000
virtual
servers.

Controllers will last 10 years.

Does not require constant connection to the internet, but does require an internet connection.

Responsible stewards of our Kinect data.

...

Sorry, but I don't believe a damn word they say. I thought they weren't even competing against Sony anymore? What happened to that Apple focus eh? Funny how that worked out for them. And I'm sorry guys, but Quantum Break looked like shit, and I doubt Steven Spielburg is doing anything with Halo beyond Executive Producer.

People should not expect the same (rather bad) showing from MS at E3 like at the console reveal. They are going to drop bombs. No doubt. Regular Joe who doesnt care about drm mumbo jambo is only going the see that MS has announced major games for the new console plus their beloved Halo.

It would really piss me off if this killing is done with paid (and timed) exclusives that otherwise would have hit both consoles. I would rather wait for the PS4 version 6 months later than reward MS for that strategy.

If they kill Sony with first party, i might buy both consoles.

Hum. All this hate for the Xbox One... As much as I prefer the PS4 (at least for now), their extreme confidence intrigues me. After all, consoles are about the games. If Microsoft shows more and better games than Sony this E3, then Xbox One it is. I hope Sony has some genuine surprises for us and won't spend too much time showing demos of games we already know about.

Well, this raises expectations slightly for E3. Not that I wasn't already excited for E3 but we'll see where this goes.

I love a little bit of aggression from Microsoft. This doesn't sound like a quote somebody would say without some good reason- I expect some megatons. I love new console generations!

Precisely what I'm thinking. This has to excite or make people wonder just what Microsoft has up its sleeves.

Oh, that spin already.

Seriously, I hope MS doesn't just splash the cash on third party exclusives, even if it does make business sense for them. Mainly because those games would exist anyway, and I'm more keen to see first party games that otherwise wouldn't.

I hope that $1bn investment on first party productions is being spent wisely. Quantum Break is a good sign, given it's a new IP and from one of my favourite developers. But they need to show more than just lame teaser trailers. Surely they have more than just Forza 5 for launch too?

All FUD aside, Microsoft obviously has a chance to blow us away with a ton of awesome exclusive games at E3. But they were confident about the Durango reveal too, and we all know how that turned out.

LOL. PERFECT!

No console with good games truly worth playing can be killed, no matter how big the announcements. I mean, sure if people care about the symbolic victories or sales winners, but I couldn't care less if a console that has a game I love somehow ends up disappointing sales wise. I will get as much as I can get from that machine and the games that interest me and will not think twice about my purchase.

They seem aggressively confident in what they're showing. Can't wait to see what's up everyone's sleeves.

Wow. Poor competitor practice to state that publicly imo.

But I guess buying a few dozen 3rd party exclusives justifies that kind of arrogance.

I've seen this in other threads too, and I was just wondering, when did this become official that PS3 passed them?
I am really curious about it. Is there a link or anything to some thread?
